Review Time
I paid DirectUnlocks about $80 to unlock my phone — and they did NOTHING. After taking my money, they had the nerve to ask for more, claiming it's needed for the "final step." This is a classic bait-and-switch tactic. It's been days/weeks, and my phone is still locked, and customer support is completely unhelpful — just scripted replies and no resolution. I feel completely ripped off and misled by their dishonest process. If DirectUnlocks has any integrity left, they will issue me a FULL REFUND IMMEDIATELY. Otherwise, I will escalate this through every available channel — chargeback, consumer protection, and reporting them to relevant authorities. No one should be treated like this.Avoid this company at all costs. Save your money and go to a real, reputable service. This has been one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had.
So, I had initially posted a bad review of direct unlocks for literally taking $100 to unlock a phone (and supposedly the first $27 was to ensure that the phone could be unlocked- they said it could, then later said it couldn't based on an issue they advertise fixing) that never got unlocked. When I asked for a refund, they claimed they *COULD* actually unlock my phone, but it'd cost more money- luckily, they "refunded" me in the form of site credit, so I can enter stage 3 of the bait-and-switch nonsense they call a business... And they left this reply: Reply from Direct UnlocksUpdated Jul 30, 2025Hi there, I’m really sorry you’re feeling this way. I understand the process might seem confusing—our checkout page clearly outlines that unlocking an iPhone involves paying for both an Eligibility Check ($28.99) and the Standard Unlock ($68). Since every phone needs an Eligibility Check first, the costs are as displayed before purchase. Your order was cancelled at your request, and we issued a full credit note for the service, which you can use for any future unlocking service. I hope this helps clear things up, and please let me know if there’s anything else I can do to assist you.EDIT in response to reply:No, it's not confusing at all- if that were actually how it worked. But see, you intentionally use misleading language to make clients feel like they're wrong, when they're not. In my case, for instance, you're actually insulting my intelligence to act as if I simply misunderstood the "so super complicated" concept of paying $28 upfront to ensure that my device is compatible for unlock, then the rest of the payment later, for the actual service, should that be the case, when in actuality I grasp that completely and the part I take issue with is that, frankly, that is not what happened.First, you trick people with false advertising, stating many different times on many different places on your site that a network or SIM locked device is not ba problem, that you can easily unlock a device in that case, and that's one of the reasons your site exists. So then I pay the $68 to go ahead and have that service done. After literally weeks longer than I was promised, I finally have to search you out, by the way -no one ever contacted me- just to be told that the reason you can't unlock my phone is because of the IMEI / Network lock!!!! And that's not a refund, that is store credit and it's credit that I don't want because I no longer want to do business with a scam website that engages in bait and switch and resorts to straight up lying to its customers in order to do business. So you're saying that before, I paid $28 to verify that you could fix the phone even with the SIM lock being the issue, and I was told that in fact, you could fix it with that being the case. However, magically for no reason whatsoever, now you can't.. but you can if I pay more money? Absolutely not!See, your site also guarantees satisfaction! Otherwise, a refund; not a rebate, not some stupid site credit, but an actual refund and that is what I want - am demanding, or I will literally take this further, because I need that money right now. I can't afford to pay for a service I'm not getting, and frankly, it's illegal to operate a website like yours and if this is how you do business you should not be up and operational... tricking people into paying you money for services that you can't and won't provide.
This company showed a quote for $28.99 to unlock your phone. Once I paid, they immediately required that I pay another $101 to unlock my phone. Even after I made the second payment, they refuse to unlock my phone. The unlock status has shown at 99% with "imminent" unlocking for 4 weeks by now. Each time I try to contact the "live support" the chatbot gives me the same runaround response that they're looking into the issue. But every chat response is the same as the one before it. At this point I've come to terms with being scammed by the classic bait and switch. I need to caution others so they don't fall for the same scam.Update! If you share your IMEI with your negative review, they will threaten to blacklist your phone! These people are SCUM.
Will take initial payment for “eligibility check”. Will take further payment which is 3x that amount to perform the unlock. Fought with me for 29 days that I then owed them over £100 for an unlock that wasn’t completed. 😂 I got a refund from Revolut and they blocked me from contacting them. 😂 hilarious - a proper JOKE PS no I cannot reach out via live support as you have blocked me from doing so! Height of a professional outfit that.
DO NOT BE ONE OF US AND GET SCAMMED BY THIS "COMPNAY" If I could give negative stars I would. They did not do what they were paid to do. As many people including myself found out. They won't give a refund , theY want to issue store credit as if "we" would ever use a service from them again. They got me for 140 dollars. PLEASE GO TO ANOTHER COMPANY FOR AN UNLOCK. DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE ANYTHING it starts off legit. They want you to pay a $50 fee to make sure your phone qualifies for unlocking. That all looks legit, and it says qualified, but then you'll wait for a couple months for them to say, we'll issue you a store credit. Because the unlock was unsuccessful, and who wants to store credit from a store that just screwed him out of money? Go somewhere else.
I wrote a review before on their website but I noticed that they only show good reviewson the website, so Idecided to share my reviewso people can decide.Their service is the worst service I've ever seen. So slow! And nothing as promised. They gave me a wrong code and then they banned me from asking about any update. At first I trusted this website, after I received a notice on my SamsungA54 : region locked, i asked for an unlock service from Directlocks.com. I payed for the check of eligibility (28.99$), they were so slow to only check and than they asked for another payment to proceed and i payed (63$) more. After more than 2 weeks of waiting they told me that my phone is hard locked, they suggested a remote unlock, and I applied for it and payed again (125$)! My total amount was (216.99$) and note that in the first step they never tell you or notify that you may pay a lot more in the process and of course they do not give a refund. I kept following the precess because I saw all the good reviews about them. They waisted my time + my money, more than a month after that, they sent me the code, I tried it as they showed me (following all the steps that they mentioned) and it was WRONG, i reach them out for that and they asked me for proofs! And since i had proofs (screenshot and screan records) i did send them to their service, unfortunately they seams like they don't care about my case, after another month waiting they never reply. I kept asking for any updates (on the direct support on the website) since I sent the proofs that their code doesn't work! - and i believe it's my right to know if there will be any updates after this!- but they banned me! They kept telling me to wait for their service to check my proofs but I'm sure I won't get my code neither my money back. This happened 2 month ago. And all this story was since jan to jun 2025. If there is something I could advise them with is to give the customer the right to check when you take so long, and to be honest about the delay that you give your customers and the prices.
