It was a terrifying and dangerous situation. When I called Drivalia to report it, the man on the phone knew immediately what part was broken—and quickly mentioned that it was an expensive repair. Rented a Damaged Car! ⚠️🚗💸I must warn everyone about DRIVALIA in Edinburgh! On Sept 10, 2025, I rented a car that started to smoke and smelled strongly of burning rubber after driving just 4.7 miles. It was a frightening and dangerous breakdown. When I called the company, the employee immediately knew what part was broken and confirmed it was an expensive repair. This instant knowledge confirms my belief: Drivalia rented me a faulty car to fraudulently claim money for repairs, specifically targeting me because I am a foreigner.Drivalia's Unacceptable Actions:• No replacement car was provided, leaving me stranded.• They took the ENTIRE security deposit from my account without any contact or explanation!Do NOT use Drivalia! They are dishonest and put customers at risk.
My flight was unexpectedly delayed by approximately seven hours, and prior to the flight, I promptly informed Drivalia (London Heathrow) of this change via email and phone. I provided my flight number and estimated arrival time at Heathrow Airport. I was assured that my pick-up time would be revised accordingly.Upon my arrival at the Drivalia office, I was shocked to learn that my booking had been unilaterally cancelled. Despite having communicated my flight delay, the staff did not check the updated flight information, demonstrating a lack of diligence that is particularly concerning given that this is the Heathrow Airport office, where staff should be well aware of the procedures to follow in the event of flight delays. They repeatedly stated that there were no vehicles available, and offered no assistance in finding an alternative rental. As a result, I was forced to incur an additional expense for a taxi back to Heathrow Terminal, where my luggage remained. Furthermore, I had to spend hours searching for another car rental, ultimately leading to a last-minute booking that cost much more than the amount of my original reservation.
I'm warning everyone about this rental company. I rented a car from this company, and after driving a dozen or so kilometers, the car stopped working, the clutch failed. The rental company said it was my fault and took my deposit. Of course, I didn't get another car. I'll just mention that I've been driving for 35 years and have driven about 2 million kilometers in my life. I'm also a mechanic with over 30 years of experience. I drive various cars daily and have had no problems. Unfortunately, they didn't buy it. I know it definitely wasn't my fault. I received a faulty car, and now they want to repair it at my expense. They're scammers, that's all. Avoid them completely because a cheap rental will turn into a very, very, very expensive one. Renting a car for 2 days will cost me over 1500 euros if I don't manage to get my deposit back, and it seems that way, because they don't respond to emails with complaints. I will try all methods to get my money back, but it will cost me a lot of time and my nerves, so be careful of these scammers.
Drivalia is miles away from Manchester Airport. The shuttle bus, which Drivalia provides, took an hour and a half to arrive. By this time there were about ten other groups waiting so it was a struggle to get on a lots of people were left waiting for the next shuttle bus.I had paid already damage waiver in advance online, but in the office the salesman was insisting I pay hundreds of pounds extra for even more insurance. He was very passive aggressive and arrogant. I felt really uncomfortable. The whole experience made me feel like I was being scammed (even if the company is actually legit). My suggestion is to book one of the car hire companies which are based at Manchester airport such as Enterprise. It's nearer and the customer service far exceeds Drivalia's.
