Absolute scam- awful- AVOID

Absolute scam. Rented as I have done for many years through broker company and showed up to the Europa car (Victoria) and zero insurance included - had to pay premium or pay for full market value for the car if any damage (!!) and tons of extra charges. I was running late due to delays my side- tried to ring to shift the time slot but no pick up - … and then charged more for ‘an upgrade’ as they cancelled my original booking. So what was originally a £178 rental turned out to be well over £400!! The car was scratched and dented and they tried to claim two of the scratches were on my watch, despite them being listed on my copy (yet not theirs)….! Thankfully the manager remembered seeing these … avoid avoid avoid… guy who charged me tried to make it seem he was doing me a ‘favour’. Booked through Holiday Autos which I’ve used many times but both they and Europacar total Fail! All I can say is check and double check you’re covered. This was the most expensive car rental I’ve ever had. Never again.

Terrible company. Avoid

Terrible company. Don't use.Can't amend booking online to change time or date, tries to charge you double. 50 pounds cancellation fee, and wouldn't let me change time when I called up help desk to ask. Had to call local office to change time. Central customer services very unhelpful. Avoid at all costs

I would avoid this company

I would avoid this company . On picking up the car from the airport in Santiago Spain .On top of the hire fee which I had already paid I was charged a deposit of e100 which I was told I would be refunded on returing the Keys and Car .This company requires the car returning with a full tank of fuel . So I filled up at the filling station across the road from where the car was dropped off and I filled it to the brim . Its now 3 months later and they have not refunded me the deposit and they also charged me £36 for fuel. I even had the member of their staff who checked in the returned car to sign my fuel receipt and confirm the car had been returned in the same condition i picked it up in and with a full tank . I have only had one reply from this company to say they would refund me and that was on the 28th of April. its now the 20th June and still nothing. There is clearly a problem within this company . Due to this dishonest bill for fuel and not refunding my deposit I will now make sure that everyone on the Spanish Santiago De Compostela pilgrim web page, many of whom need to rent a car to return to where they started their walk in Spain ,Are fully aware of the suspect way this company operates.

Don't not use this company!!!!

Don't not use this company!!!!Whatever you do... There was 5 couples/groups there all having problems. They didn't let us collect our cars because of not having a credit card in the driver's name. This was the same for all the couples. Then we all called head office and got a horrible response. The Head office started staying that they we would have to cancel the booking, not get refunds, then we missed our slot from being on the phone with them and they was going give our car away so another person.Then someone in the car company helped us. But we would have been stuck and out off £100s of pounds. The instructions for booking are not clear enough.. couples where having to pay £250 to get their car will full insurance... What a way to make money!!! They are scamming people to get the extra money. It's was a joking seeing more and more people come in a better charged an extra £250 because they didnt have the right booking details or information.... SCAMMMM!

First issue was the fact that the website doesn't differentiate between Perth City UK and Perth City AU and we booked for the wrong country. In branch customer service was a shocker - an utterly disinterested young lady. We managed to cancel the Perth AU booking and book for UK and we collected a van that was not clean. The interior was pretty grubby all round, the exterior had a LOT of damage on it. There was no manual/handbook and the passenger airbag was switched off and the Adblue light was flashing within 50 miles of our journey. We also collected it with a tank that wasn't full of fuel. When the van was returned we were told it had to have a full tank of petrol. Mentioned that it hadn't been full initially to disinterested bimbo.... and got a blank stare. Not impressed with the service or the vehicle at all. Won't be going back. Worth paying a little bit more for better service and a better vehicle.

Money taken from bank no explanation as to why

We had a hire car whilst my son’s Motability vehicle was being repaired they told me to make sure it was full of diesel on returning it which I did and I have photos to prove it was full. I also cleaned it inside and out. Today they have taken £35 out of my bank account no explanation no warning nothing I did what I was told to do. I tried to contact them with the online form it just says there is an error. Shame because untill now the service we received from Lincoln europcar branch was great.

Rip off merchants

Rip off merchants. I had a vehicle from Europcar and on a Friday afternoon I got a call from Europcar Portadown requesting immediate return of the car as they had it booked in for an M.O.T test the next day and the m.o.t was expiring. In a foolish show of goodwill on my part, I left work early to allow Europcar to meet and exchange to another vehicle. This effort on my part didn't allow me time to refill the petrol tank to full. *it was half full when the exchange took place. I expected to pay for half a tank and would have had bo qualms doing so, however, I received an invoice in the post from Europcar for 36 litres of fuel and a ridiculous rate of £2.10 per litre. Considering the 50Litre capacity tank was half full I couldn't understand how they could fit 36 litres more in,and charge me an extortionate rate as reward for me helping them out. Car stank from first day I had it, no proper valeting carried out on that site in Portadown clearly. The replacement car also stank and they billed me for another £30 worth of petrol despite me returning it full! They are running a complete scam on that site.**Update because Europcar has commented on this review** I put these points to Europcar before leaving this review hoping they would correct the charges made. I received a robotic email saying "in line with our terms and conditions I am liable for the full amount". They are a horrible horrible company.

Unauthorised Charges

Booked and paid £135 for a car for 4 days for a family trip to Alton Towers so other than the drive there and back the car was in a car park for 3 of the days.Collected the car with no issues, paid a deposit of £273 which I was told would be refunded on return of the vehicle.No issues on the trip, filled the car with fuel and returned the car with no issues. Return receipt states - no new damage, fuel full and deposit would be returned 7-10 days.After 6 days £100 was returned, when I questioned this I was advised £173 was taken for premium protection. When I complained I received a rude email from Adii saying I had agreed to this.When I stated that I had not I was told it would not be returned and he refused to escalate my complaint, case closed.I thought going with Europcar I would avoid nightmares like this. I am now going to struggle to buy my kids new school clothes. Disgusted with Europcar.Europcar please don’t respond with the usual “please contact us to discuss” to make yourself look better because I tried that and got ZERO response.

Brilliant !

Booked a vehicle for pick up and drop off in Derby 17th June-21st June. The young woman who dealt with me was extremely helpful and professional despite my early morning uselessness. I got an excellent vehicle for the price paid and can’t recommend this branch of Europcar highly enough.
