Zero assistance in helping me resolve. He stated he wasn't there in person so how could he help me. I stick with my 1 star review. As we had another rental car company not honour our reservation due to car shortage, we had to walk into Eurocar. Totally took advantage of our vulnerability as a tourist and I'll never rent from them again. Double the normal charge and forced upon us a premium insurance package. Went through customer service who said too bad. $700cad/480£ for less than 24hr rental is robbery.
Absolutely disgusting how they treated me. I have been renting for a couple of months and always pay each week to extend another week as required. I returned the first vehicle in perfect condition with a full tank and never received my deposit back. I then got another because it was my only option at the time and I was told I would receive my deposit back within 10 working days. I was made to pay another deposit for the new rental agreement so at this stage europcar had stolen my £250 and since have been given another £250. I then noticed money had been attempted to be taken out my bank account to the tune of £559 for no reason. I’ve since had another payment try to be taken from my account of nearly £400. I have paid over £1500 total to rent vehicles for 8 weeks and europcar are still wanting to steal money from my account without any correspondence or reasoning. Scamming company that must be doing this to everyone that rents from them. I will also copy and paste this onto every review site available so all can see it’s not just them that europcar have scammed. It’s everyone that uses the company in full trust that they’ll be given a decent well maintained vehicle and a fair price and total cost for a rental. The car they gave me struggled getting to 30mph and would start rolling backwards when going up any sort of incline. What a horrible company to rent from I’d use enterprise if I was you they charge a bit more but then they don’t become scum bag theives when it comes to requesting your deposit back. They provide vehicles that are properly maintained and suitable to drive in all conditions too
Gave me a vehicle with over 20 damage points. I asked the rep to show me around the vehicle so I can confirm all points were covered, he just said take photos. With the list so big it was impossible to confirm exactly what areas were covered on their paperwork.I took the photos and 1 week after I returned the vehicle they stated there was a charge for damage on an alloy and sent a photo.I was able to produce to them a photo showing the exact damage on my inspection photos. So clearly they are not recording certain damage I believe in an attempt to collect damage money.
Updated 4 days agoComplaint reference not resolvedComplaint reference not resolved - Case #20323289.I had an alarm for low oil come up on my dash- sent them email with attached photographs.I had immediately parked the car at my Hotel - andI then rang First Call Assist on 08000280999 to advise of the ‘Incident’ as per my image of the windscreen notification. They advised me that they should be able to attend but would call me prior to arrival.I then received a call and was advised that i needed to go and purchase "at my own expense" some 0W30 engine oil and top up the oil reservoir myself with 1 litre of the oil! Oil bottle and type as per image sent to them.I had paid for a Roadside Assistance package and have not received it and i expected a full refund including VAT charges as i did not receive the service.Secondly, i expected to have the cost of the oil i was told to purchase fully refunded as well, including VAT- receipt was attached.I was also required to purchase a 5 litre bottle as no smaller bottles were available - even at mechanics as i checked, and i was required to go to a wholesale supplier to get the correct oil.Lastly, as i am not a mechanic - hence why i paid for Roadside Assistance option - i advised them that I do not take any responsibility for any possible engine damage that may occur due to me being forced to add oil as instructed above. All of this and only an email saying they are investigating...but not resolved...VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY.I also asked for a reference number and transcript from the call back but have not received anything - even though i was told the call was being recorded, and i would get one.Update 290624 - just had their 'auto -Kick the can down the road - review' response to this Trust Pilot review. Now need to contact them for a 3rd time (already sent 2 emails about this + 2 week old, unresolved complaint...) to provide more detail. What a detailed email, 4 proof photos, Voice recording of conversations, a Complaint Case number back from them, and this review is not enough? JUST GETTING STUFFED AROUND!Date of experience: 14 June 2024EditReply from Europcar UK4 days agoHello Michael,We appreciate your feedback and we are sorry to learn you were dissatisfied with our service.Give us the chance to solve the issue by providing more details using this link...where our customer service team will be in touch. We hope to see you again. The Europcar TeamPlease see their poor response above...I have tried 3 times to do what they have asked in their 'Auto' response above and guess what - the site doesn't work and won't accept my information. Despite it meeting the criteria on their feedback form.
I received the same answer from Europcar as I did three times previously. As before I typed in my information and uploaded the relevant documents. AGAIN - they were having technical difficulties with their website!!! These difficulties have been going on for weeks.Europcar offered a link to their website so that I could explain my situation, which I did but, when it came to sending off my message, the site had "technical difficulties". I followed their advice to try again, three times, but to no avail. I posted my dilemma here in the hope of a helpful reply but received the same automated message as before. This company is obviously not interested in admitting to their dishonest dealings with their customers. Having read through many reviews, I see that I am not the only customer who has been mislead and cheated. This is unacceptable!
Do not use Europcar in the uk, hired the car, took out additional cover which we were told at collection at Edinburgh airport, would cover any tyre damage. Have since been hounded by their collection for $300.00 to replace a tyre, I have provided the additional insurance cover document but have now been told, it doesn’t cover tyre, why else would I have taken out the additional cover. Previous when in the UK, I had a puncture when using Sixt and it was no problem and covered without any additional insurance. Now they have charged my credit card. I have never used Europcar before and will never again, my fault as I had heard of this happening to other travellers.
I hired a car through Ryanair. Ryanair completely cocked up my booking for my car at europcar. As it was booked through a third party there was little they could do to help. I ended up having to pay an extra £199 for a car which I'm obviously enraged about. The gentleman who helped me however was very kind and did his best. Waleed, employee at the London Stanstead Airport was very professional and helpful. Due to the cock up and the inconvenience he upgraded my car for me too. He remained calm despite the ever growing queue. In fact his colleague, Liverpool accent, kept walking off from the desk for long periods, and allowed people to queue jump.
I made a booking through Carjet CJT-129297960, when I arrived at the branch I was informed there was no car available unless I paid an extra £70 for an automatic car, which unfortunately I was not prepared and I was unable to pay. Please issue a full refund as soon as possible you were happy to take my money straight away but not refunding me straight away. I would like to make a formal complaint against the branch manager of the Northampton branch. He was rude, unprofessional and very very unhelpful to the point I left the branch in tears without any means to get home or go to work. I would have expected a better service from Europcar.
