Review Time
I hired cars for in total about 3months. When I extended rentals, they charged me more then I would have paid by changing cars (due to distance and time has to accept it), but the most disgusting behaviour, they tried several times to take unexplained amounts of money from my account (thankfully never had enough in account). Which serious company does that? Enough that you suffer as repeating customer but this is just to much to accept!
Fraudsters ! Beware of this company and theirNon existing customer services . After seeing reviews on here it is very obvious their trading practises are shady and the company doesn’t care about customer satisfaction or customers rights or their reputation at all. I Had to have the debit card reissued as there is no other way of stopping them charging my account with unathorised charges.
I recently made a booking using Europcar and would implore that they are avoided.I reserved a vehicle on 25th November for collection from the Inverness branch on 16th December. Payment was taken in advance upon reservation. Upon arriving at the airport at 9pm on 16th December, the keys were not released to me. No reason was provided. I was handed a piece of paper with an email address to find out further information. I was then stranded at the airport with no way to reach my destination. The airport eventually closed and I had to wait outside for a ride to my destination as my presence in the airport was not allowing the airport staff to leave and I did not wish to delay their arriving home safe. Europcar didn’t have a similar concern as I was left outside in the rain, in the Scottish Highlands, at 10pm. Surely 22 days is ample time between the reservation being made and my collecting the car to prevent this from happening? The following day I sent an email to the email address I was provided to inquire further. The email was re-directed to the branch. I found this odd, as why would the branch instruct me to email the address provided if that email address was going to re-direct me back to the branch? Regardless, I waited a further day for contact. No contact was received. I then began to get concerned as they had already taken payment and my booking was live on the app and I had not received a refund. I proceeded to call Europcar on three occasions. On each occasion the advisor tried their best, but due to company policy being flawed, they were unable to advise me regarding my refund or the booking. Each advisor referred me back to the branch. I would recommend they listen back to the call logs in this instance as all three advisors agreed that the situation was a mess. The branch did not contact me as promised, so I returned to the branch. No further information was provided and I was once again referred back to head office. This has been a horrendous ordeal. Europcar need to consider the appalling customer experience that is delivered. Note I am a repeat customer, having rented cars on three occasions using Europcar, and was still treated terribly.Do not use. There are other rental companies that will take your custom and deliver what is promised.EDIT: in response to the canned response left by Europcar, I contacted using the link provided and have not received any response. An urgent issue treated without consideration on their end…
Scam Company. I have rent a van took my money with no problem out from my account when I have about to collect the van they said they cant release the van with our a reason the lady stated this refunded. Until now no refund and I have escalated it still no response. SCAMMER worst company. Dont use them.
Avoid like the plague. They are rubbish and don't care. They forgot about our booking, left at the airport for hours. Eventually got in contact with them, told to get a taxi to my hotel and they would refund the cost. Time to pay, and they refused. DO NOT USE. Walk if you have to
My parents booked a car for us via a third party to collect from Manchester airport. From the outset it felt like an elaborate scam. Even though my dad had plaid for excess protection via the third party we were told it wouldn't cover it and we needed to pay again.Nobody showed me around the car at pickup. I was just left to work it all out at 5am after a 27 hour flight. Then there were endless additional changes for this 'premium location', non of which were communicated in advance.Upon return we were charged over $100NZD to vacuum a little bit of dirt off the rear mats (this was a two week hire and my kids had been careful... It was honestly nothing that a regular between-hire clean would need to deal with)Over a month later I'm still trying to get back the remainder of my security deposit. Avoid this businessEDIT:The canned response below (the same one added to every negative review here) offers me the chance to contact customer services. I already have done this. I've written multiple emails, lodged a complaint, all to no avail. Charges were upheld and nothing more done except empty 'apologies'.The litany of poor reviews here repeat the same issues and experience that I had. No action seems to be taken to improve things, so I reiterate: Avoid them.
I was lied to and miss sold additional insurance cover by the Cardiff (Newport Road) office.I have been a loyal customer at the Newport depot for many years and spent thousands of pounds with them but after this recent experience I will Never use Europcar ever again ... NEVER BELIEVE WHAT THEIR CARDIFF OFFICE TELLS YOU ...When I contacted their customer service department I was met with a wall of corporate cr4p !!!
Have rented with Europcar a few times and usually went smoothly until they rented me a car with a history of battery issues. I rented it for a specific occasion and it would not start and AA were hours away as it was safely parked on my driveway. I had to spend over £100 in taxis to get to my event. The next day the AA came out and said it was the 6th time they'd been out for the same car in 10 weeks and to take it straight back to Europcar. Despite numerous phone calls and emails, and proof of the problems from the AA, they have refused to offer any refund for the vehicle rental.**I have submitted my appeal to the BVRLA for assistance**
I hired a car for three days last weekend from the Purfleet branch and I have to write a review it was the most easiest rental experience I have ever had. Thank you guys from pick up to drop off you were amazing also the person who did my booking on the phone.
*** Edit - I escalated this complaint through some of my own channels and eventually europcar agreed to refund me on a mutual basis. So I am glad it’s fixed now, just caused a lot of stress on the way. - ***I had a Europcar rental for three months while my Mercedes was being repaired, and the experience was abysmal from start to finish. The car was delivered with only 3/4 of a tank of fuel, despite their policy stating it should arrive with a full tank, yet I was still charged for fuel I didn’t use. When it came to collection, they left the car in my driveway for over a week and then gave me just two hours’ notice while I was 800 miles away on business. I had to scramble to get my brother to drive 60 miles round trip to hand over the keys.Despite these massive inconveniences and their lack of professionalism, Europcar has shown no interest in addressing my concerns or resolving these unfair charges. They expect customers to bend over backward for their mistakes while offering no accountability or goodwill in return. I’ll never use Europcar again and would strongly advise others to avoid them.
