Outrageous damage claim from Europcar

Everything was great, until the lady at Avignon Courtine identified some damage to the rear door of a panel van. Tiny damage - one of the items looked like dirt, to me. Europcar have confirmed that the van continued to be available for hire. The bill was more than €1,000! I found this massively over the top. They were slightly chaotic in responding to enquiries, but my beef is with the outrageous sum. I feel like the victim of an organised scam. I've been mugged, and it's_frustrating.

Mis-sold Insurance

I originally booked the car through booking.com with their total protection packageOn arrival at the office at BHX I was told the total protection package, wasn't with them and I would only have limited cover, they then told me I should ask for a refund from booking.com, and buy their insurance instead. As I was only on a short stay in the UK, due to fly back to work, I took the agents advice, I had just come off my flight into the UK having been travelling for 12 hours and I didn't want any complicationsMy original car hire cost through booking.com came to £470.41 with the premium insurance (Europcar then charged me a further £508 just for their insurance, which I hadn't realised until I got their invoice)They then took a payment of £800 as a what was described as a security deposit, of which they have taken £708.41 I have contacted their customer service who have told me the £708.41 is the insurance package I signed forNeedless to say I'm not impressed in the slightestStill waiting for any kind of security deposit to be refunded

Avoid

Avoid the Liverpool branch unless you enjoy spending the following month after returning the car, disputing damage, and extra charges.. never experienced anything like it after 20 years of car hire from various companies. I will never use this company again even though their pursuit of extra charges for damage was eventually dropped!!! Not worth the hassle. There are thankfully more honest car hire companies out there...

Incident during rental not resolved after 2 months

I had an incident during my rental and reported the incident straight away. On returning the vehicle they said they would send me an invoice for the damage/excess. I had 3rd party insurance so just have the standard excess of 1600GBP with Europcar. I have been waiting over 2 months for the invoice and have emailed and called many times and been told that they are still investigating the incident and that they will let us know. With a deadline for claiming with the 3rd party insurance, they are causing unnecessary stress and complication for a straightforward incident.

I prepaid for car hire at Fuerteventura…

I prepaid for car hire at Fuerteventura airport with Europcar through Holiday Extras. My flight was late arriving at Fuerteventura. I presented myself at the Europcar desk to be told my car had been given to another customer due to my late arrival. I was offered another car and charged the difference in cost. I argued the point that my hire had already been paid for, and therefor should have been held whatever. My thoughts fell on deaf ears. Due to me having a fair drive to the south of the Island i had no choice but to accept Europcar's offer. I have traveled alone many times before and never had any issues such as this. I have tried to contact Holiday Extras and Europcar with no forthcoming communication. Not good customer service.

Be very careful with this very dodgy company Mrs michele francis sent me an email charging me for a tyre And the van was still on the drive way from my house It seems it's automatic to try to charge a customer for tyres

Ljubljana Downtown Car return - Awful

Very mixed experience with Hire Car in Slovenia...Very slow service when collecting the car - almost 30 minutes !!. The car was great however the biggest issue was returning the car to the Ljubljana downtown 'office' BEWARE - The return location is 15 minutes walk from the car park, the instructions for the car park are inadequate which resulted in a detour around Ljubljana in rush hour traffic, the car park does not have any specific signage for where to park the car.Once we had waked to the office and mentioned the above the agent was very apathetic regarding our issues.To top it all off the car was inspected within 15 minutes of us returning the keys so someone must have driven out to do that.There was adequate parking outside the key return office so the car could have been returned there easily.Need to improve this massively.

Absolute disgrace of a company

Absolute disgrace of a company. They rented me an electric car that didn’t charge. As a result I missed my 12:55pm flight back to London from Lisbon and waited 4.5hrs for the car to be picked up and taken to the airport. I got home 11hrs after I was meant to and €538 poorer (€437.48 on the new flight and €101 on the taxi home. Through absolutely no fault of my own, and ENTIRELY the fault of the faulty car that Europcar hired to me, I spent €538 and was 11 hours delayed, and they wouldn't compensate me for the cost? How is that fair? They gave me €39 for the car hire and offered NO EXPLANATION FOR WHY. Absolutely fuming. Disgraceful disgraceful company.

First class service at Malta…

First class service at Malta International Airport. Tariq was professional, friendly and efficient. The car was better than we’d expected - self charging hybrid which was very economical. Return process was quick and easy. Once again staff were excellent.

Terrible twisty company I’ve used this company three times now…

I’ve used this company three times now and each time they’ve found a way of extracting more money. They use very skilful means to do this, please be careful extremely careful when hiring cars from this company. I won’t hire from them again
