What an embarrassment of a company. Paid more than I could with another company thinking if I had any issues it would be easier to deal with one of the "main" rental companies. Man was I wrong. Received our car without the staff doing any precheck and straight away noticed there was a low tire pressure dash light on. When going back to the counter they closed and locked up in the 5 min it took us to walk to the car. Was 10pm at night so nothing to do but take the rental or be stranded two hours from our hotel. Ended up with the car breaking down and then being charged "damage" fee and nearly missed our flight. Disputed and dealt with the absolute worst customer service. Could not recommend strongly enough to never book Europcar UK. What an absolutely joke.
Hired a vehicle online and paid upfront. When we arrived to collect the vehicle we asked for an additional driver to be added in case of an emergency. At no point were we verbally made aware of any additional charges, nor were we made aware in the confirmation email that additional charges may apply for the additional driver, and when we asked about the breakdown of the costs on the rental agreement we were told "this summarises what you've already paid". Fast forward a week and an additional charge appears on my credit card for 28% of the original rental costs for the additional driver. When we've challenged the cost, despite not being made aware of the additional cost, it was included on the rental agreement and therefore Europcar are unwilling to refund. Why would these costs not be mentioned to us when we specifically asked their representative what the costs were? To add salt to the wound, the additional driver was just for an emergency, they didn't even drive the vehicle. In the interest of customer service would you not empathise with the customer, understand the facts they have presented, and determine a miscommunication had occurred?
Awful experience!!!!Booked my car hire well ahead of my holiday. My flight was delayed last night so I called europcar to explain I was unable to collect the car whilst at the airport waiting for my flight that was delayed by 3 hours as the Glasgow office would be closed on my arrival and I would have to collect Saturday morning. Agent said they would send an email to confirm my call. Glasgow Europcar had my flight number and phone number. I stayed in a hotel that was a 3 minute walk to Europcar and when I arrived at 9.30am I was told they had given it away the their 1st customer of the day as they put me down as a no show. Agent was rude not apologetic and told me I would need to pay £400 extra for a premium car!! When I explained that I called their call center he told me to call them again as there was nothing they could do as they had already cancelled my booking without Informing me. I called the call center for them to say as I could not collect at 10pm the car was released and a refund given, I was not told this when I called from the airport waiting for my delayed 3 hour flight. Left me at Glasgow airport with no form of transportation for me to get to Inverness. Worst customer service I have experienced in a long time!! If you can't get to your booked car due to no fault of your own and you have taken to steps protect your booking by calling the call center be prepared for your car to be cancelled and not to be informed until you go and collect. I will be putting in a formal complaint as I have not received my refund yet and I have had to find and extra £600 for a car from another company No holiday treats for me or my family!!

Disappointed with Europcar UKI recently had a negative experience with Europcar UK during my visit. I was overcharged and faced poor customer service from Petyo Pernichev in Customer Services.The handling of my rental agreement (156978467) was unprofessional, and the situation has been ongoing for nearly a month. Despite providing evidence to correct the mistake, the reasons for the extra charges kept changing, which was quite shocking.I am reaching out in hopes of receiving feedback on this matter. Absolutely terrible company. I would advise anyone to look elsewhereI prepaid for a car online, and I was paying the full Insurance. But when I went to pick the car up they did a soft credit check and it failed! So what, I've paid in full, and the full insurance. So even if I was of the mind to steal it the insurance was paid!This has left me without transport to pick my brother up from Bristol Airport, and it's to late to find an alternative.This must be the worst experience I have had with any company.
If you want to get fu**ed over then you should definitely rent from them, this is the second time im renting with them and it was awful from the car to the service, and on top of that they didn't not release my security deposit has not been realised and it looks like it never will be, so yeah if you are looking for classic scamers and ready to lose all your money over a cheap pice of car then you should definitely get scammed by them
We rented a car in the UK a week or so ago, they took a chunky deposit reserved on the car, which is normal. The car and service was great, we returned it on time, but 8 days later the amount is still blocked on our card. I have bills to pay, and can't as these shysters still have my money. Apparently they are very sorry, but that's not really cutting it, Seriously, avoid. EDIT, I've been speaking to customer service who just told me it was Europcar policy to hold onto the deposit for up to 10 working days. I've never had this from any of the other companies I have ever rented from, and I can't afford to leva 1000 euros with you for close to 2 weeks. For that reason, and that reason alone I won't use you again.
So after booking the car a few weeks prior, I download the app and fill everything in as Europcar says doing this before makes car pick up smoother.On the day, I'm standing at check out, bank card in hand to pay, waiting on the keys so I can take my son away for a weekend together, our first trip just the two of us.Then I het told I dont pass the soft credit check and so they cant give me a car. I'm not looking for credit, I'm willing to pay the full rental fee up front. Tough, no car.Excellent. So now I'm left thinking, I cant let my son down. Quick trip to Arnold Clark, drove out 15 minutes later in a hire car.When you get everyone hiring a car from yourselves to download your app and give all the information needed to make the car handover smoother, do you no feel that including your stupid credit check should be done then and there before sending all hire documents out as if done and dusted if you're gonna turn people away on the day?Complete waste of my time, and a horrible start to the day which almost ruined time away with my son. Will never attempt to use you again and will recommend everyone to stay away and go elsewhere before getting let down on day of hire.Shocking
Booked a car online to pickup from Belfast international airport and was quoted around £45 only for them to sneak in a ‘premium location surcharge’ when you sign the rental agreement which TRIPLED the price I was expecting to pay. Will not be using Europcar again, it’s totally misleading and this price should have been quoted online when I booked. Beware
