Beware this company is a scam, was sold two tickets to fly and paid nearly £200 and once I paid the company gave me a voucher towards the flight seats not the actual tickets for the flight. This behaviour should not be allowed as this is mis selling. I also thought that a company operating this would give a refund as I contacted them straight away about it, they answered and said read terms and conditions!!! Really !!!
According to the website they have "no set route" but they certainly do: directly over my house three times an hour at low altitudesThey fly at sea level over the Hackensack river at sunset until you beam them with your binocs and then they magically gain altitudeThese reviews just underscore how absolutely unnecessary this company is. I'll be very happy to see them shut down
They are real scammers. My flight was leaving at 9am. I knew I had to be there 1 hour and 15 minutes before but due to a traffic jam I arrived at 8 am. They charged me an extra 75 USD late fee. Then I waited for an hour to watch a simple 5 minute video and they put me on the helicopter that was leaving at 9am which was my flight. On top of this they have subscribed me to their club and are charging me 6 USD every month. They make you believe they are giving you a 70% discount when in reality they are ripping you off and charging 50% more for nothing. Be very careful with them!
These guys are just scammers. They make prices supposedly higher, then give you a supposed 70% discount. As a result, you get a flight at the average market price.However, they will then start charging you 5.99 for membership. There will not be a word about membership in your personal account. Membership doesn't give you anything. There are no conditions for membership on the site, not even the validity period of the free period. Membership literally gives you nothing other than a mid-price flight.That's how they make a significant portion of their money, because you can't even cancel your membership until you crawl through their website and write to them asking to cancel.
So I can‘t rate the experience itself because we never actually got to do it. First of all they do this 70% off flash sale to make you book quickly (the sale is actually all the time). It says 150$ per seat but you end up paying crazy booking fees as well as a guaranteed window seat so you end up paying over 300$ per seat. But okay, let‘s spent it for this „once in a lifetime experience“.The day before the flight, we got an email saying our flight has been cancelled due to „equipment repositioning“. No further explanation. I reached out immediately to them to see if there is anything they can do to make us fly anyways, at another time etc. They didn‘t even bother answering me to several mails. We were super disappointed.I ended up getting an answer when we had already left New York. They just said the flight is non-refundable and that we would get credits to use within 12 months. So far I haven‘t even got those credits and apparently you have to pay fees to actually use them!I‘ve read this kind of reviews before booking but decided not to believe them, which I now regret. So if you are hesitating wether you should book or not: Don‘t do it!
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I was looking forward to get in a helicopter since I booked my trip to New York and this was the worst thing I did while being here. You have to be there 1h15min prior to flight departure and we were only 20 min later (so basically 55min prior to the booked flight departure time) due to traffic and we had to pay £75 additionally per person to still be able to get in the flight?? We still had a whole 55 min to do everything?? After watching the security video and putting on the belt we still had 20-30 minutes?? So we had to pay for no reason since we still had to wait. Then we went outside with the bus and there we had to wait so long for the pilot, in the meantime the departure time we booked already past and we still were waiting… So we had to pay additionally while we had enough time and then they were late?? After 30 minutes our names were finally called and we were heading towards the helicopter, where the pilot was explaining some security rules again. But then the flight itself… I could not see ANYTHING. The wind was so hard that at some point I just had to close my eyes and I was shaking the whole time because of the wind. I tried to put my feet out but then my whole body from head to toes starting shaking and the headphones kept falling off my head due to the wind. While the strange thing is that this was not because bad weather. I could not take any pictures or videos, I couldn’t see anything and I had to pay extra FOR THIS?? I’m really disappointed because I was so excited for this… If I only knew that the flight experience would be like this I would’ve never paid extra…
This company is a scam. They will rip you off. Be aware.The flight is beautiful, but the last-minute price charges are a deceive.> Misleading advertising: I decided to go with the "Buy now, schedule later" offer with 70% doors-off discount called "NYC HELICOPTER CLASSIC - Sunset" for two people. Price for two 1976 USD after discount & adding a unexpected booking fee of 195 USD it totals to 787 USD. When I wanted to schedule the flight months later, there was no possibility to book the flight for this price even many months ahead. So in total I ended paying more than double (1791 USD instead). Cancelling the reserved tickets, and go with another company was not an option, as I already had done a 787 USD first payment.> Useless membership:Additional they push you into a monthly 5.99USD Membership (to get the price stated above) with no additional value for the customer. Just aiming that the customer forget to cancel it, which might happen to many customers.> “Shoe-Selfie Seat Guarantee”:We paid 400 USD for us both, just to have this “guarantee”. We got one seat at the “open door” but the other seat was beside a closed window. So 200 USD were in vain. Therefore you need to know that 5-6 People fly with an helicopter (One beside the pilot, two facing backwards and tree facing forwards). So only one seat is in the middle between two seats. So all other seats are a seat with this “Guarantee”.
SCAM SCAM SCAM: Please take 1 min to read. Yes this is a scam. Don't let the videos of their employees on the helicopters cool you. Notice the name pictures and videos are reposted. Purchased this in December of 2021 to propose to my NOW WIFE. Do you think I've received my flight yet? How many times do you think I've been rescheduled? And guess what, No they won't refund me. Instead they keep offering to reschedule again and again. The 70% off is a lie. Flights cost 2k, so pushing it up to 8k and posting 70% off everyday is not a discount. I can't say this enough. Stay far far away from this company because you will get burned. Currently building a class action lawsuit on this company.
To anyone considering booking a helicopter tour in New York City, I highly recommend that you avoid FlyNYON. My experience with them was extremely disappointing, and I am still waiting for a refund that they promised me in January.Despite purchasing their weather insurance, which they claimed would guarantee a full refund if the tour was cancelled due to bad weather, I have not received any reimbursement from them. I have tried contacting them multiple times, but they have been unresponsive and unhelpful.It's very disappointing, as I was really looking forward to the experience, but unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate. While I understand that weather is out of anyone's control, I feel that FlyNYON should honor their promises and provide refunds as they advertise. I also find it concerning that they have negative reviews online from other customers who have had similar experiences.I sincerely hope that FlyNYON will rectify this situation and provide me with the refund that I am owed. In the meantime, I advise anyone thinking of booking a helicopter tour to be wary of this company's promises and consider other options instead.Thank you for reading, and I hope that my experience can help other customers make more informed decisions.
