We were charged £838 to replace the lock on a upvc door. He broke the framing of the door in attempt to force it open, and then he drilled through the door and lock mechanism, resulting in him having to replace the mechanism, he did all of this work without mentioning the raising costs, and indicated it was the only option. Had we known how much it was going to cost, we would have chosen to replace the door entirely. when he completed the work, he told us it would be £838, I was so shocked at this price, and knew he had overcharged but at this point the work had been done so we had to pay.( In addition he had told us he would have to hold the keys until we paid, because he had handed the keys over to a previous client, and they refused to pay so he smashed all their windows. This comment I feel without a doubt was a scare tactic to ensure we paid). I am most disappointed because now my door and door frame is damaged, but having to pay such an extortionate price to fix the lock means we cannot afford to replace the door. Im so sad to see how many people have had such a terrible experience with this ‘business’ and would urge everyone to report them to trading standards and ombudsman to prevent them from continuing to scam people.EDIT* It has just come to my attention that we contacted this ‘business’ through the website locksmaster.co.uk. (Yet we where invoiced from general services) so they are clearly using multiple websites. Please also refer to the trustpilot reviews for locksmaster.co.uk, to see many others complaining of the same scam!
An elderly relative called this company as it was the first one to appear on google . The lock mechanism on a very old upvc door needed replacing and what should be a £200 job has cost £750 . She could have had a new door for cheaper , but he advised her not to do that as they ‘ come from China ‘. The invoice was for £600 but he also asked for £150 cash which she unfortunately paid as well . Typical of how horrific companies like this one take advantage of older people . Unfortunately I didn’t find out until it was too late or I would have intervened .
This company also operates under the name LOCKSMITH LONDON LTD so do look at those reviews too. Though, under any negative google reviews they falsely claim it’s not them.I am a young woman who found myself locked out of my home in the evening. I went on google to find local locksmith professionals. This was one of the first advert so I called and was quoted a £49 call out fee. I was told that someone would be with me within 30 minutes. It took the technician over 1 hour to arrive. He didn’t introduce himself or explain options. He immediately took out a drill to the lock. Then told me there’s two options one being £200+ and the other £400+. I asked if this was the total price to which he said yes.I was then presented with an invoice of £597. I had no choice but to pay.I am currently disputing this as I was not informed of works to be carried out so wasn’t actually able to consent. As a young woman I was taken advantage of.I have made contact with the Master Locksmith Association and will be escalating this.Beware of this company.
I called them for an emergency at 6:30 PM. I was in a stressful situation with two young children present. They used a "bait and switch" tactic that I want everyone to be aware of:• Aggressive Contracting: The technician forced me to sign a blank invoice before writing any prices or itemizing the work.• Massive Overcharging: I was charged a staggering £562.80 for a simple lock replacement.• Misrepresentation of Goods: They charged £245 for a "premium lock." Upon inspection, it is an Asec TS007 2-star handle, which retails for approximately £50. That is a 400% markup on a trade-grade part.• Deceptive Behavior: When I complained, the technician returned to my house claiming he "forgot a screw." While there, he attempted to justify the cost by claiming he had "undercharged" me and that the lock was worth £249—a demonstrably false claim. This company relies on people being in a panic to extract exorbitant fees. Do not be fooled by their "local" appearance or low quotes over the phone. I have reported them to Trading Standards and am pursuing a Section 75 claim through my credit card provider for misrepresentation and aggressive commercial practices.Avoid at all costs.
My husband rang the company and explained that there was a problem with the locking system the gentleman said he would be here in 30 minutes which took him 15 minutes. He did the job ( great ) but when he was handed the bill my husband paid it ( my husband didn't have any prices off him) not thinking that we were going to be charged £261. £43 VAT. I rang the gentleman and said that he had made a mistake with the price he said he hadn't, I mentioned where was the call out charge he said " we don't charge " I told him that he's took advantage of us as we are in our 70s I,have tried to find the email address but I must be doing something wrong because it says " No results "Please please don't have these they are robbers I don't know how they can live with themselves!!! We should be having other jobs done this week but now we will have to delay it. After reading the reviews ( which we should of done 1st,) I'm in disbelief !!!!
Please, please, please dont use this company. I called them after searching on Google for a local locksmith (turns out they aren't local, but employe scum to carry out there work in your area) anyway, when I called i asked how much this would cost and was told £49+VAT. 30min later a man arrived and told me he had to drill the lock because it was old and that would cost £149+Vat.... we're already over £100 more than the price quoted on the phone. He then told me it would cost an extra £90 for the lock.... thats now £240 excl VAT!!! 🤬 Then after he did the 20 min job he presented me with an invoice for £440!!! I was so upset, told him he wasn't transparent with pricing and he made out he did me a favour claiming the Astra lock should cost £250 alone but he's only charged me £150! I was so upset. He took full advantage of a single mum of 2 kids locked out at 9pm. He was then demanding for the payment and shoving a card machine in my face to pay. I've contacted my bank, the police, trading standards and citizen advice. What horrible scum
Firstly i was not given a quote over the phone, only for when the technician will arrive. after the technician arrived he discovered that my lock was a high security lock ( i live in a flat ) apparently this turns the job from a "simple" job to a "not simple" job. This lead to the technician telling me he would have to drill out my lock that I currently have and would need to be replaced (he did not show me the prices for locks until after he drilled out my lock on my door) . After he had drilled the lock out (which took less than 5 minutes? how is that not a simple job?) he then showed me the prices for locks and the cheapest one being £189 at first i agreed then followed him out and said that i couldn't afford it at the moment and that i would just use the secondary lock on my door for the time being. He seemed abit shock but came back in to get all his equipment then started tallying my bill (which again i was not given a quote for) amassing to £208.80. £49 for call out + £125 for the "not simple" 5 minute job + VAT, I then voiced my shock at the price saying "Christ its still that expensive without the lock" to which he replied, "yeah its what happens when it goes from simple to not simple". Currently in a back and forth with the support team to try and get a partial refund but they are firm that "their technician followed procedure and definitely gave me a quote before the work was carried out." Avoid this company like the plague
