I rented a camper via them. I got the insurance they provide. Then, I had a breakdown and I had to be towed. I contacted the insurance and they told me that they will cover the expenses. After they contacted me again and they said they will not pay due to my insurance having expired. Goboony told me that the insurance made a mistake with the insurance dates and that they will file a claim on my behalf again. Since then I have been going behind insurances that goboony sends me to get my money back. So, I paid for insurance 250€ for 10 days, I got a breakdown but I cannot get refunded.
The camper owner pulled out of the deal saying they had decided to sell the camper. All of my money was returned however they had all my funds for a few months (good way of earning some interest !). I felt gaboony did zero in protecting me from this cancelled holiday, wasted holiday time from work. I wouldn’t look to use this service again. Your better off hiring from a proper hire company.
So - the van we rented was very pretty and compared to roadshare/inidcamper etc quite cheap. But when we picked it up, we found out that the turn-around time was only one hour. So even if the previous drivers reported things that were wrong (which they apparently didn't), there is no chance to fix it. And a lot of things went wrong and needed maintenance. Doors, oil, fridge, key - they all kept us quite stressed at time and then the van broke down due to a broken clutch. The owner was nice and tried his best to help us, but was a bit lost, too. The recovery/insurance company was a nightmare to deal with. Yes, it is cheaper than the commercial companies and the cars are more personal than the plastic grey of the commercial vans. But I can't, in all honesty recommend renting via goboony, because noone really checks the cars. The people after us had no van, at all. No idea what they did for their holiday. So this is fine, if you are more or less local and just want an nice short trip, but if you come from aborad and have saved up for this holiday, I recommend going with a company that has a garage and can guarantee a replacement. (And it is a fairly common occurence. We saw several of broken down vans and motorhomes and heard the stories from other peeps, on the ferries. Driving in the highlands happens mostly in gears 1-3 which is a nightmare for the motors)
This was our first experience of renting a motorhome and we choose the NC500 as our destination / route. We were able to find a van of our preference relatively easily and after making the booking via the app the owner got in touch.Over the months leading up to our trip we made further payments via the app to secure our trip, all was very simple. As we got close we got engaging texts from the App and some useful hints for a first time motorhomer (?)About 3 weeks before the owner Scott, got in touch via the app, to confirm what items were on the van and if there was anything specific we needed. He also contacted us, with our agreement, via WhatsApp to finalise the collection and drop off.On collection he showed us round the van and after we set off we were able to contact the owner with a few teething issues we were having, absolutely nothing serious, just a lack of knowledge on our part. We will be using the GoBoony app again as we plan to travel the Atlantic Way in Ireland in 2026 and maybe into Europe in the future.
