Review Time
First time hiring a car in Australia and it was not great.
I never received any email explaining how to access the key, no guidebook, nothing. Eventually, after digging and digging, I discovered I had to pick up a smartcard near where the car was parked.
I picked up the car and everything seemed fine initially. However, halfway into my journey the car started making a freakish alarm noise that would not turn off.
We eventually figured out the alarm was because there was an issue with the smartcard and it had become “invalid,” so it was like a very loud alarm going off on the highway - not great and honestly quite stressful.
I also found the aircon was leaking and the front passenger footwell was completely wet and stinky.
I arrived at my destination but decided to come straight back because the car was just not right.
Customer service was also terrible.
Would avoid.
Dear team
On 15th September 2025 I booked a car in Newtown and after I kept the car back I got a charge of 90 dollars because I left the keys in the ignition. Never in my life I have ever done that. I have told the team to prove it and they never got back to me. I know it's been a long time but I still haven't got a proper answer. I want to know how do you guys can prove that I kept the keys in the ignition and not any other problem with the vehicle.
Please look into this and let me know.
Regards,
Neelabjo Pal
I booked a vehicle for 2 hours and used it for just 1 hour and 57 minutes. The reservation was from 12 am to 2 am. I picked up the car at 12:17 am and returned it by 2:14 am. I ended up being charged over $90—$43 for the 2-hour rental, which included fees, and an additional $47 for the 14 minutes past 2 am. I decided to cancel my account. I'd prefer to walk instead. Wishing everyone better travels.
Communicating with the offshore staff has been incredibly challenging. They tend to stick to procedures and offer empty reassurances rather than truly listening to the concerns. Like others have experienced, the service has occasionally withdrawn funds from my bank account, including a questionable flat battery charge. Despite being a loyal customer for over five years without ever leaving a key in the ignition, I was asked to 'prove' my claim. When I requested they prove otherwise, they promised to follow up, but a year later, I'm still waiting. The representatives are often rude, dismissive, and difficult to engage with.
I needed transportation for an upcoming appointment at a workshop. I joined the service and made a reservation for a vehicle. I received numerous email instructions on what I needed to do. However, upon arriving at the designated location, there was no vehicle in sight. I received a notification that my reservation was canceled just as I got there. After such a disappointing first experience, I lost trust in the service and attempted to cancel my membership. Unfortunately, they won't allow me to cancel before a specific date. I would feel much better if they would cancel my membership and remove all my personal information from their records.
The idea and everyday use of the vehicles is acceptable. However, the communication and systems of this company are severely lacking. I've had multiple instances of being wrongly fined, only to have it resolved with an apology, and then receive the same fine again shortly after, leading to a frustrating cycle. To quote a famous playwright, 'there is something very wrong at the core of this service.' They charge excessively for their service, which feels monopolistic. I hope the relevant authorities are investigating them.
If I could give a negative rating, I would. They operate in a questionable manner, and I advise everyone to steer clear. I received a parking fine issued to the vehicle I rented, three days after my booking. I proved to the local council that I wasn't in control of the vehicle at the time of the incident. Yet, the service deducted a handling fee without my permission and attempted to charge me for the parking fine. Thankfully, I managed to stop them from taking that money, but I recently received a threatening email from a debt collection agency about potential damage to my credit rating. I stopped trying to reach out to them months ago, as their responses seem automated or outsourced.
I attempted to settle an outstanding invoice and discovered that I had been charged 'additional fees' without any explanation. This does not relate to toll fees, as I hadn't used a toll road. How can someone just create random charges? I've had numerous issues with this service over the last year and a half. Previously, I had no complaints. I don't know what has caused this significant decline, but they should definitely be investigated by the authorities. I've already reported them twice.
This service is marketed as a safe and reliable alternative to car ownership, but my experience has made me doubt ride-share services entirely. It makes me consider that owning a vehicle might be safer than relying on a service that provides poorly maintained cars, gives misleading information, and charges full price when issues arise. I have submitted complaints to consumer protection regarding unsafe practices.
Accessing a vehicle is easy through the app, with reasonable rental and insurance costs. The ability to modify bookings, including cancellations, is a plus. Overall, it's more affordable than using other options like ride-sharing services.
