Thrifty/Hertz at Barcelona airport, (as booked through to) with have been an absolute nightmare to deal with. No vehicle reserved on arrival, 'upgraded' us to a worse vehicle, vehicle was substantially more damaged on collection than they would acknowledge on on-hire report, vehicle was returned in good/equal condition with full fuel - claimed vehicle was returned with excessive damage and low fuel, despite providing evidence to prove otherwise they are denying our complaint - will raise chargeback claim on credit card. This amounts to fraud. Operatives at airport were vile to deal with/submitted false information, including physically scratching the vehicle themselves, whilst being filmed by myself. At this point said operative became threatening and tried to take my phone from me. Will not use Hertz/Thrifty again. Had good experiences with Europcar/Enterprise during previous visits, so assume issue is just with Hertz/Thrifty, who used to be reputable...
Unfortunately, my experience was a negative one. We returned the car to Santiago de Compostela on 27.02.2024 and I have never seen the managers inspect it like that in my life. They said I had scratched the disk and I have to pay them 132 euros. Of course, my insurance will cover that, but it was very much like fraud. I have used many car rental companies, but this one was the most bad choice. I cannot recommend this company and will never use it again.Booking number: 728589814
Its been almost two months and still haven't got my deposit back. We were accused of damage that "had been occured during our rental period". Video evidence of the time of pickup showed that the damage was already there. I still have no response on the 4 e-mails I have sent 7 weeks ago. I started 4 online chats in which I got false promises that people are gonna look into it. And the phone number is not even working.
Hertz Alicante is the worst company in Europe.The cars are in such a terrible condition and they are not safe to drive in.Hertz have no service so when the rental cars brakes down you are lost.Hertz don't give a F…RENT A CAR ANOTHER PLACE IF YOU DONT WANT TO SPEND YOUR HOLLIDAY TRYING TO GET A NEW CAR
Hertz Tenerife South Car Rental Deplorable service, also I booked the car through a broker DoYouSpain and I paid a 95 Euro deposit which Hertz did not recognize and they told me to discuss this issue with the broker company. However, the reference number from DoYou Spain was on the rental papers. Except for this, the car was filthy and smelly al the windows had residual from the cleaning so was extremely difficult to see the road, especially in the evening when an oncoming car's lights hit the windscreen. The windscreen wipers were damaged by the sun so in wet conditions they were useless. When I complained they told me that and I quote:"We would like to inform you that all Hertz cars are delivered to our customers once checked by our mechanical staff and have passed the corresponding technical, refuelling and cleaning reviews. After passing the test then the car is rented" ... yes that's unfortunately not thru.
I had a very disappointing experience with Hertz. Instead of 5 days, the guy on my booking put 4 days. I only realised this when I returned the car and was charged for an additional day including late return fees.I then contacted the customer service who did not help at all.Happy to change the review if we are able to reach a resolution.
