Electric car with the wrong charger

We booked a small car through Booking.com for a day trip. Arrived at the counter at the airport, everything went very quickly and we were served well. However, we were given an electric car instead of a gasoline car, as actually booked. We agreed, because we were assured that the battery would be enough for the route planned by us. Not even at a quarter of the distance, the battery went down so quickly that we had to go to a charging station. Due to the fact that we were given the wrong charging cable, we visited over six stations and none of them were able to charge our car. Employees of a gas station and an electric car driver explained to us that they had never seen such a cable and that such connections do not exist in Spain. In the end, we could only get back to the airport with the help of a private power charger and spent 3/4 of the day worrying about the car. IN ADDITION, the customer service does not exist at all. We called every number we could think of and either they consistently didn't answer or the man could only speak French and pushed us away. Even if our experience can be an exception and we think that the employees did not act maliciously, we will not rent a car from this company again.

Shocking dishonest behaviour

Incorrect information supplied by Counter Staff at Santiago de Compostela airportVehicles rented out with considerable minor damage, only some of which is correctly itemised on their documentsNo-one available to discuss the state of the car before leaving.Poor maintenance of vehicles. (The car I had needed a service 2000km before and had incorrect tyre pressures and was dirty.)Charging me for items of damage on return of the vehicle which were most likely already there and a refusal to discuss the matter when I queried it.Making me sign for having caused the damage by deception.Taking money from a credit card using their own exchange rate, unfavourable to me.Refusal to engage with my case.

I rent a Tesla for 10 days

I rent a Tesla for 10 days. Contract with Easyjet, Rental car: HERTZ. Airport: MalagaAt the check in, I asked to add my wife as the second driver, because included in my payment, but they didn't agree, so I showed the hardcopy of the Easyjet agreement and the guy at the desk had to talk with his boss before aknowledge I was right. Not a great start.They gave the Tesla to me charged at 97% and they told me I had to return the car at the same level or higher otherwise they had to carge me some additional not clearly identified amount of money. But there wasn't a charging station near by, so it was almost impossible to return the car with the same level of charge. But somehow I did it, and they didn't charge me this extra fee.After few days that I returned the car, Hertz notified a 50 euro fine, that I paid authonomously through the site Gesthispania, paying additional 12,10 euro for the Gesthispania fine management service. After 3 days Hertz wrote me that they were going to charge my credit card other 40 euro for their fine management service (I wonder what service they did for these 40 euro).My contract was not with Hertz directly, but with Easyjet, and this 40 euro extra were not mentioned in my contract, I asked them not to charge me, but they did it anyhow.At the end I had to pay 102,50 euro for a 50 euro fine.So, even if I lost just few bucks (unless they find some excuse to charge me something else), my impression is that I am a sitting duck for them.

ALWAYS take pictures and get private excess insurance

Hired a car from Hertz at Gerona airport. Reception staff was friendly and bumped up our car but the car itself had significant damage at the back with the rear bumper cracked. This wasn't recorded anywhere and only when I sent an email telling them about it I was told they had already recorded it but no mention during check-in. There was also no staff at the car park when picking up or returning the car and even though the car was returned with a full tank I was charged £70 for refuelling. Luckily I took pictures of receipts and the petrol station. Hertz refunded the money but I'm not sure how this would have gone if there had been no proof from my side.

Hertz scamming customers AGAIN!!!

Hertz scamming customers AGAIN!!!! The WORST hire car experience of my life. Hertz clearly using dirty tactics to scam their customers at Santiago de Compostela airport. Read the other reviews - I had exactly the same experience. Picked up a damaged car; told to take photos; return totally undamaged but a mark almost invisible to the eye is noted and then charged 501EUR. Never ever use Hertz at SDC - SCAMMING PEOPLE IS UNLAWFUL.

I wish I read the reviews on Trust Pilot before hiring from Hertz Bilbao Airport. We hired a car with super cover, personal insurance and additional driver. They also charged us for an estimated fuel energy charges, maximum recharging price and the service charge of doing this. (This is based on the possible event that you return the car less than 20% charged). This amounted to 344. 00 Euros. We used the car safely for 2 days. The car was in excellent condition and fully charged, when we returned it before opening hours, dropping the keys in the letter box of Hertz AEROPUERTO DE BILBAO. Within a week, I was emailed an invoice for an additional special cleaning at the extra cost of 200 Euros. I was also sent a damage report with no images, just a photograph of form with writing on it which was too blurry to read. We returned the car clean, inside and out. These special cleaning charges brought the total to 519.94 Euros. I have not had the fuel charges and service costs returned. I have a feeling that if we did not have the super cover insurance, they would have accused of damaging the car as well. I WILL BE AVOIDING HERTZ IN FUTURE AND WARNING ALL FRIENDS AND FAMILY ABOUT THIS. I WILL ALSO POST ON SOCIAL MEDIA ABOUT THIS SCAMMING COMPANY. I am disgusted by the amount of poor reviews I've seen here on Trust Pilot, but at the same time, it just proves my point about Hertz ( I guess its all in the name) Hertz Hurts Your Pocket!!!!!!!

Charged €200 for sand in boot in Spain!

We were charged €200 for excessive cleaning as there was some sand in the boot. I might add that we were on a beach holiday in Spain. Will never use again and we hire every year for a week in February and then 2 weeks in August so plenty of revenue going to competition. Plus lost revenue from ALL my friends and relatives who are also now avoiding.

The car rental company has invoiced me…

The car rental company has invoiced me an amount of 242 EUR for the cleaning of the vehicle, which appears to be a coincidental sum equal to the initial deposit plus an additional 42 EUR. I sought clarification from the personnel at the Hertz rental counter, who informed me that the car was not returned in a clean condition and exhibited sand on the seats. Furthermore, they asserted that there was interior damage, but when I inquired about the nature of this damage, I was informed it pertained to "cleaning damage," a term I had never encountered before. While it is true that there was some sand on the seats, attributable to our use of the car after visiting the beach, and one seat was slightly damp due to our return from the seaside, the car, in general, required no more than a simple vacuuming.The charge of 242 EUR for this cleaning service, in my view, appears to be excessive and unjust. Throughout my interaction with Hertz, I consistently sensed a lack of transparency and felt pressured regarding insurance options, despite having already purchased insurance elsewhere. Their frequent reference to the potential loss of the deposit from the outset of the rental process contributed to my discomfort. Had it not been for the advanced stage of the rental, I would have seriously considered canceling my reservation with Hertz and seeking services from an alternative provider.This marks the first occasion in my experience where a car cleaning fee has reached such a high amount, which I would characterize as comprising both the initial deposit and an additional 42 EUR when dealing with Hertz.
