This company likes to add on charges for damage that wasn't done. When asked to produce photos are repair invoices they smugly refuse. They rely on a clause in the contract that says you have to get the car checked in. On this occasion, the airport car park was being overrun with building contractors and no Hertz staff could be found. We were walking to the terminal (Palma) when we saw a Hertz employee, who rudely told us to go back and wait. By this time we couldn't as we were now running late and so we couldn't. The employee as good as said, if you don't go back don't be surprised if you get surcharged. I think she surcharged us as punishment for not waiting. When we complained we were ignored for 3 months and then when we started making this public, we got a terse answer saying it was our responsibility to wait for their non-existent staff. Since going through this I have heard of many others with the same problem. If Hertz are reading this, you may have made a sneaky £150. But you have lost so much more in actual cash and goodwill. Shame on you
Hertz Mallorca airport. They said my insurance bought from an agent is not worth anything and I need to buy Hertz own insurance which of course is a scam and cost twice the amount of the rental car. Unfriendly and rude. Ordered a suv due to the upright position, but got a lowdown ford focus instead. They could not get me anything else and no discount due to my inconvenience. Only thing positive was the drop of the car, it was easy and the girl was friendly and normal.Rubbish company on Mallorca airport. Stay away.
The service is OK when you use the car but my friends who I was travelling with had a false charge for damage added to their account. They refused to engage with my friend for several months and then refused to refund the charge. Both I and my friends are very frequent visitors to Palma De Mallorca and the service from Hertz is quite shocking
My wife and I, both pensioners, rented a car at Barcelona airport for one week, drove to Valencia and back and left car back at 5am. Got an additional bill for 200 euros for special cleaning!! No photos, no further details, just the bill. I’ve been renting cars all my life and never left one back dirty, just the normal state after a weeks hire. I have questioned the bill so let’s wait and see what they come back with, although reading the other reviews here they don’t have a lot of satisfied customers. As a gold card holder I would not expect such terrible treatment. I will get back here once I hear back from them.
Be warned ! Firefly & Hertz (one & the same) will try and charge you after your hire for damage if you have not paid extra for their insurance. Having hired a car for a few days, the operative behind the desk was not happy that I refused to take their insurance. Keys were eventually handed over to me without anyone inspecting it. In the vehicle return, an agent inspected and passed all but almost a week later I am being invoiced for damage that I never caused.
Biggest scam i rented a car from madrid and took a video and pictures and returned the car in same exact condition yet i was charged hefty fees for damage and not provided any explanation about these fees and no one answers customer service line! STAY AWAY FROM THESE THIEVES AT ALL COST!!!!!
