Parking ticket Scam

I rented a car at Malaga Airport. One month later I received a parking ticket from Finescover for 37,26 euros.I was 2 weeks in Granada and the ticket was from a town 300kms from Granada. Then Hetrz took 40 euros off my credit card because I got a ticket driving one of their hire car. This is a SCAM.How did Finescover get my name address etc.I even got an e-mail from Hertz stating that they had no knowledge of this fine/parking ticket. But they still kept my money.Nothing like this has ever happened in hiring cars at Malaga for the last 20 odd years.

They add the damage after the transfer…

They add the damage after the transfer even though you have photos and video of the car being collected from the airport.

Avoid - company do not act in good faith

Hired an electric car from Hertz at Malaga Airport in November 2023, returned the vehicle and was not present for their post rental inspection. On landing back in the UK noticed that Hertz had tried to charge a range of amounts from 400 to 600 euros six times whilst we were in the air. Hertz claimed I'd not returned one of two charging cables original supplied and are now demanding £525. I had not charged the car in our rental period, so impossible that I'd lost one.I raised a case with the European Car Rental Conciliation Service (ECRCS), but Hertz continue to not act in good faith.Avoid at all costs, as others have said.

Avoid Hertz (Tenerife South) like the plague!

Avoid this company like the plague!! Took advantage of us having our young medically complex tube fed child with us, we got out of the airport later than expected due to delays with her wheelchair. We had our keys and went straight to the car to start loading baby and bags, for the first time ever, (after renting cars abroad at least 15 times in the last 10 years) we didn’t take photos and videos of the car (it was also dark and poorly lit) The lady spoke little English and failed to go through the standard checks with the car. As previously mentioned this is something we’ve never experienced before, usually with all the PROFESSIONAL companies we’ve dealt with, THEY have initiated the car checks not us. When returning our car. They told us the car was damaged and quickly whisked the car away to ‘the car wash’ to wash the probable dirt they were calling ‘damage’ away before we had a chance to inspect the ‘supposed’ damage. They are deceiving manipulative liars who abuse the trust of tourists and take advantage of families travelling with disabled passengers. We will not let this slide. They were clearly caught out as they started sweating and were flustered as soon as we called our their disgusting behaviour. The embarrassing lady who wrongfully failed the check the car with us in the first place was acting in a manner I would only expect from disobedient children. I HOPE NOBODY EVER RENTS A CAR FROM THEM AGAIN. Avoid Hertz, Tenerife south airport!! (Not surprise there was no queue for them either compared with other providers)

DO NOT BOOK WITH HERTZ!

Wish I had seen these reviews before we booked our car rental with HERTZ SPAIN. They are thieves! We were given all sorts of excuses why we couldn't leave without taking FULL comprehensive insurance on our car (even though we had full comprehensive insurance via our travel insurance policy!). We gave up in the end, took it, thinking we would dispute it later but it turns out it is IMPOSSIBLE to get in touch with anyone at HERTZ after you leave the office. We tried 5+ different email addresses, all phone numbers publicly listed were disconnected. We finally thought we had got somewhere when we returned the car (nice woman who assured us she would make note of our concerns when processing our deposit etc and send us an email with relevant parties details) but she never did and today they charged the full 700Euros - 500 for insurance + 200 bond/desposit. This is on top of the 345 Euros for 20 days rental. THEY ARE SCAMMERS!! I am now investigating via my bank. Not even an invoice to outline what the 200 Euro bond was held back for, as we filled up the car before returning and not one scratch!

Third Class Company in Barcelona

It starts from the rude staff at the counter. Hertz is supposed to be a premium car rental, but here it is a third class company. I rented with them many times, there is no single time i can say i was happy about their service or car or price. Just because of my Gold Card, i have no choice but to sometime rent from them. Once i rented a car, it was a car from Goldcar, I suspect they give old cars from other rental company when they run out of cars. The car type shows 4 suitcases and 7 people, but to fit the 4 suitcases, you have to fold down the last row, making it a 5 seater and 4 suitcases. and even then the 4 suitcases wont fit in. God forbid if there is any fine, they charge a fee to your credit card, i think 40 Euros extra on top of the fine. You already got screwed with a fine and they screw you further. Make sure you note down all minor scratches, when you return the car they will blame them on you, even if it is minor and not caused by you. I have rented cars from them atleast 10 times, and each time it is an unpleasant experience.

Rented damaged car, then charged 600 Euro for damage!

I picked up the car in Alicante on Oct. 28 and it had several scratches and dents on it. I hadn't rented a car with so many defects before. I declined the collision damage waiver (CDW), because I am a safe driver. On Nov. 4th, I dropped the car off at the Malaga train station. You leave it in a parking garage with no Hertz attendants and then drop the key off at the station office. I didn't have any problems with the car, so was surprised when I got an email charging me for 600 Euros of damage! The damage they reported was minor: a dent that is hard to see, a white mark on the left mirror casing, and a tiny white mark on a panel that already had a big white mark. The condition of the car when I picked up the car shows that they don't repair the scratches and dents. So, charging over 200 Euro for loss of use added insult to injury. I think this is a way for Hertz to get their money from customers who decline their exorbitant CDW insurance.

Bad Customer Care before, during and after rental arrangements

My experience with HERTZ Spain has been disastrous! I will never use it again. You never know your rental bill since HERTZ is permanently charging extra payments. Last time, in November 2023, Hertz reported me a traffic fine. I diligently paid and asked HERTZ for confirmation of my payment. HERTZ charged EURO 40 for investigating the case! This is a dubious business model, isn't it?

Don't rent a car at Hertz Malaga…

Don't rent a car at Hertz Malaga Airport! I did not agree to additional insurance with the lady at the airport, as a result they accused me of a little damage, took my deposit and an extra couple of tens of euros. They were sure I had flown out of Málaga, so when I went back the next day to explain the situation, they were very surprised and admitted that there was no damage and that they would give the money back! They provided an email for me to write a complaint! The correspondence lasted nearly a month and ... they denied their words - they wrote that I had damaged the car! Liars and swindlers! I'm thinking about legal steps, but I don't know if it's worth wasting my time with these scammers. No more Hertz!

Beware of Hertz Spain Malaga Airport

Dear Trustpilot readers,I regret to share a disheartening experience with Hertz Spain Malaga airport. Despite returning the vehicle earlier than the agreed time, I faced an unjust deduction, initially attributed to a late return. After presenting evidence, the narrative shifted to imply tardiness in picking up the car, a claim contradicted by the circumstances.Engaging in a month-long dispute with Hertz, I received no response, highlighting a lack of professionalism. This ordeal has tarnished my perception of Hertz, and I caution others against choosing this company for car rentals.
