Review Time
Such a time wasting and vile company. Why do they exist? Every other ombudsman gives a certain amount of days for a response then action is taken. Not these guys, oh no. You'll barely get a reply, on the phone they will sound like they're still actually in bed and do not care. They kept giving 10 days, then another, and another, and another...this went on for 3 months before I just gave up. They were my last hope. My mother passed away abruptly from sepsis November 20th 2020. I sent in the death certificate, etc, required for succession of tenancy and everything else. The council did not contact me for 5+ months (during my grief and lack of housing knowledge I had assumed they were moving housing benefit, etc, over to my name). After those 5+months had passed, with no contact, they then informed i owed them 5k worth of arrears (bearing in mind I am also a vulnerable person) Ombudsman did NOTHING. The council did not care, happy for me to take 20 years to pay that off. Thankfully my renting officer somewhat did resolve the issue and reduced them down to, just under, £300 because of a grant she just so happened to find. You are an absolutely seriously vile service. You made my mental health situation worse by full out lying. Whoever funds this needs to stop. Whoever works at this place is either ridiculous or just desperate. Genuine shame on this company.
Absolute disgrace - Marlon was just a guy who would rather shrug you off so there's less work to do. When you have to complain about the people who are suppose to be helping you about a complaint it is a bad state of affairs. But whatever happens people know karma will bite these people one day. Nevertheless, don't less their nature make you depressed because they are no good..... they said I should complain in writing about Marlon - I said what for, so I can wait months for nothing all over again. Its all about their funding and that's it...….. The main thing is do no these people upset your moment because if you do then you have lost your control.... forget them....
terrible waste of time unhelpful crap service and crap staff.what is the point in this service when the staff don't help you case. imagine you are homeless because of the council holding a vendetta against you and from, the chief executive to the office staff holding grudges just because you want decent affordable housing but instead house you in dumps houses full of damp and mold but when you complain they do stuff to you.i contacted the housing ombudsman because i was told they were fair unbiased and investigate the council and local authorities. i wish i had read all the reviews before i wasted my time with this crap service. i don't know whats going on in society but if you need help this service is not going to do anything. i do not know what sort of people work in these jobs but they don't care or have a clue what private landlords or councils are doing to people in real life.
Insufficient workforce to deal with backlog of housing complaints, I've had to chase them numerous times for my overdue updates. I've also had to contact them again because of recurring matters with the same housing association landlords London and Quadrant who are probably fully aware of how incompetent the Housing Ombudsman are and take advantage of.By the time they actually get back to you there have been more matters that have had to be raised. So to say they are chasing their own tails... is an understatement!
(No stars really are deserved.)Undeniably an example of systemic corruption. I spoke to one Housing Ombudsman employee on the phone and she seemed barely literate - presumably a lot of the staff are picked for their quality of malleability, at odds with what the public need. If you can get a solicitor - fat chance for most of us - then do, don't waste a year waiting for these crooks to find in a council's favour as they surely will in at least 75% of cases. Google for corrupt ombudsman and you'll find how common their malpractice is. They will in time be replaced by a body that is what they pretend to be, but for now this is many millions of public money being extracted and effectively embezzled to be used against us. An impressive heist that you don't learn about until it's made its mark on your life. So, in my experience: corrupt council, corrupt police, corrupt IPCC, corrupt housing ombudsman and now corrupt local government ombudsman that has abandoned my case when the council escalated its misconduct further by reacting unlawfully against my having the audacity to challenge their inept and lying staff. What a fantastic country.
Terrible service. Allowed my HA to get away with lies, allowing other tenants to break their tenancy agreement, I got no help and support. They are the worst landlord Ive ever come across and this service allowed them to get away with it. They discredited all my evidence and just took what the HA said. Very one sided. Avoid using them and go to your MP/Councillor for help they will really fight for you when you’ve been badly done by your landlord. Even my two doctors letters stating I should be moved because of noise disturbances and the proof of my medication, they still said “they can find no evidence of my landlord being the cause of my mental health issues” REally?! My HA break their side of the tenancy agreement and just get away with it. And this service is allowing it. They should be ashamed and shut down!
Entrust none of your faith in this organisation. It should be overhauled.It simply does not hold HO's to account/expose maladministration despite being obliged to do so. It will discard your sound evidence but believe anything submitted by the landlord, including blatant lies. No wonder HO's don't take them seriously.
The purpose of the Housing Ombudsman is to thoroughly investigate complaints. Unfortunately the HO failed to this. After being put on a waiting list of 12 months after I submitted my complaint about my landlord, the investigating officer failed to investigate my complaint, let alone check the evidence I had sent.The lady that carried out the investigation sided with my landlord Housing for Women Housing Association despite my landlords blatant lies and cover ups. They make you wait so long to have your case investigated, make you send all the evidence to prove the truth, negligence and corruption from the landlord, only to have your time wasted.I asked for my case to be reviewed which it was. And even then, my evidence was dismissed. But this time, the HO did find my landlord guilty of maladministration and ordered my landlord to repair my defective flooring. Even after this was ordered by the HO, my landlord did everything possible not to carry out the repairs. It took months to get it done. Despite this order, my landlord failed to rectify my flooring and instead took out a cheap repair job knowing it would not rectify the problems. My landlord then lied again to the ombudsman claiming that my floors were repaired when it wasn’t. My flooring is now ten times worse than what it was before the botched up repair job. This was not the fault of the contractors but my landlord who refused to accept the contractors findings and recommendations.To this day, my landlord has continued to harass, bully, intimidate, discriminate and victimise me. Disrepairs continued to be ignored, fire safety continues to be ignored as does health and safety. The HO has allowed our landlord to get away with putting lives at risk for over seven years, has allowed our landlord to get away with corruption and most of all has allowed our landlord to get away being a landlord when they are clearly unfit to be a landlord, just like the HO who are also not fit for purpose.
Do not waste your time with the HOS.It is staffed by people who have spent 20 years working in the Housing Departments of the local authorities they are investigating.The will always side with the local authority or housing association. You will always be required to prove everything you say, while the LA's statements are all taken to be true without evidence.Months after you have shown what you are saying is true, and that the other side have lied, the HOS will simply accept an apology from the other side and close your case as a successful resolution.So if your MP says "have you tried the Housing Ombudsman Service?", tell him or her "thanks but no thanks, - I want you to write directly to the CEO of the council or housing association" and don't take no for an answer - it is the only way to get rid of these obstacles to justice for taxpayers - force your MP to waste his time - there are only 600 or so MPs, these Ombudsmen have thousands of employees who are all trained in stupidity and inaction.
First contacted the housing ombudsman in december 2018. Not really been any help in my issues with Clarion housing. Just keep telling me I have to escalate my complaint, which I do and still nothing happens. Not really sure what their purpose is as I have not found them much help
