UPDATE: The company owner reached out to me to explain the process on their end a little more and justification for their pricing. He is keen to ensure my experience was positive after reading my review. We were both in agreement that when using third party websites to use phonebox’s service, a miscommunication can transpire with regards to phone conditions. Before sending your phone here, visit the PhoneBox website to manage the expectations of the money that will be offered based on the condition of your phone. I appreciate Shez reaching out and believe a positive customer experience truly matters to him. I went with phone box because of their good reviews, I’m having a hard time understanding why. I received a revised quote for less than half the original price I was offered due to minor scratches on the screen, minor scratched on the body and an apparent issue with the telephoto camera. When the £140 was rejected I got a sales call which was essentially trying to see the lowest I’d go. It went from £300 originally, then £140 (rejected) then on the phone it went up to £175, then £200 “after a chat with the manager” to £210, then finally £220 (the amount I stupidly mentioned at the beginning of the call). I’m not entirely sure why a company recycling old phones needs a sales department, other than trying to get lower than quoted amount from customers. I reluctantly agreed to £220, £80 less than quoted. The phone was sent under ‘good’ condition, not mint. Don’t send your phone here unless you’re willing to play the game, I might have managed to get more had I not mentioned £220 at the beginning, but I naively didn’t expect for it to be a sales call. Never accept the first offer (unless it’s the quoted amount) and stand strong on the amount you actually want; worst case scenario, pay £10 to get your phone back and sell it privately, you’ll more than likely get more that way. 2 stars instead of 1 because the money was sent quickly.
A simple, fast process and no hidden costs. I was a little worried to start with as I had never heard of PhoneBox but there were no issues. Processed within 2 days and I received the offered payment almost instantly after receiving confirmation it had been completed.Would use again and recommend.
Was very dubious about this as have never traded in before and heard some stories about trade in sites. However I am more than happy with Phonebox, did order with quote, sent phone and 48hrs later I had the full price quoted in my bank account. Would recommend and will definitely use again
The upside was that the money was paid within a couple of hours of a price being agreed and the initial packaging was received very quickly with good clear instructions.Just don’t sucked in by the initial valuation of the phone (mine was in good condition) , before they’ve seen it, as they then tried to offer me less than 50% once they’d processed. I managed to knock them upwards but I would have gotten more on Facebook Marketplace, as imperfect as it is, and will go back to that next time.
I sent my iPhone 13 Pro to Phonebox, and after they received it, the initial offer was revised due to some issues they found, including a problem with the telephoto camera, as well as scratches on the screen and housing. I had some concerns about these claims, as I had taken good care of the phone and even took detailed pictures before sending it.After discussing the matter with a representative, we reached a new agreement. Later, the owner personally contacted me to explain the situation in more detail, which showed me that they truly care about their customers.I’m updating my review to 5 stars because their customer service went above and beyond to address my concerns, and I appreciate their efforts to resolve the issue professionally.
