Complicated, yet simple

Huge thanks to Tyler for helping me refinance my vehicle. His professionalism, attention to detail, and clear communication made a complicated process feel simple. He truly went above and beyond, and I’m very thankful for his support. Highly recommend working with him.

Flawless experience!

Andy was wonderful! He was so helpful, polite and stayed in contact through the whole process. They were able to get my car payment $150 less than what I was paying and in this economy $150 is a big chunk to be able to use towards something else. I highly recommend using Rategenius!

This company gave a decision without a completed application in less than 24 hours

This company gave a negative decision without a completed application and was not specific as To their rationale. As part of their review process they did a hard check on my credit which affected it negatively. They could have done a soft check and obtained the same information. I find it interesting that they would make a decision without a completed application and I would advise against the use of this service.

BEWARE of shady Auto-Refinance scams from RateGenius

I recently applied for a Rategenius auto refinance, and based on my score, I was placed into a category where I could get a 48-month loan @ 5.0%, which is a couple of points less than what I have now, as well as 10 less payments. I figured it made sense, so I went ahead with the process. After a fairly simple application, I was contacted by RateGenius for a couple of questions and was advised I would be given a callback. Keep in mind that my initial credit was soft-pulled as well as hard-pulled by a third party at this point, and an initial offer of the 48mo@5% was the primary and only factor in my decision to refinance. After a callback from a friendly RateGenius sales person, I was told that "she was ecstatic to inform me I was approved for a 72-month loan @ 7.9%". My jaw dropped. I was floored and asked the lady what type of reasonable "genius" would accept such a shady offer. I asked to speak with her supervisor but have not heard back from the company. Now, I am stuck with a hard inquiry on my credit, which could stay there for years, with absolutely no positive outcome. BEWARE!

Complete Scam! Don't use rategenious, autopay, or any other name they have

I am writing to complain about refinancing an auto loan through your rategenius, autopay, or any other name they go by. I got an offer through credit karma with a lower APR and monthly payment so I went to check it out. I took a break in filling out the additional information they wanted to check for the refinance, but had a hard inquiry run on my credit before I even gave all the information on the site. Besides that I got an email saying I would need to pay over 12k for an offer in general. I do understand that credit karma may have been offering a different price and ratings but for it to be that drastically different is just an absolute scam on your part as well as credit karma for posting such absolute BS. I wish I could give you zero stars or use a more negative rating because this was a complete waste of time. Hopefully this will help someone else not waste their time even considering these companies. Should've listened to all the one star reviews I read instead of giving it a chance.

RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN

They were recommended my credit karma We started the process on 6/13/24 and was approved fairly quickly. They asked for several documents which I provided in a timely fashion, and a few days later then my loan specialist asked for the same documents over again and I told him that I already snap them and he said oh OK I see. Then they had a sign a loan agreement and FedEx the title information so they can get this loan finalized and my loan specialist again. A few days later I asked for some more paperwork that again I’ve already sent and he said oh I see OK he promised to give me a call back the next day to give me an update. Never got a phone call, I had to text Tim several times the following day and finally got a phone call back on that phone call. He asked for some more documentation at last minute that’s when I asked to speak to a supervisor I received your phone call from the supervisor the next day we got through that hurdle, and got the paperwork that they were requesting, I was told that my loan specialist should have asked for that upfront today on July 2. I was told that we still need more paperwork. I told my loan specialist who is a different one this time to help finish this up. I already sent it to the old loan specialist and they said that they could not find it , I was uncomfortable, sending the same documents again due to the sensitive information that was on them. I spoke with the supervisor again this afternoon and told him to cancel my contract, and that I would never do business with you guys again it just seemed with this company that their loan specialist do not know what they’re doing and they’re constantly asking for paperwork. They’ve already got I would not do business with this company even if they were the only company that does this.

Low rate quoted but not Given

I received an invite from Credit Karma to reduce my auto loan rate for a new car I just purchased and selected Rate Genius to apply. The rate shown was 5.45% for 60 months but of course in the fine print it says "** Estimated". My credit score is in the 800's, My total annual income is over $135k and my debt ratio is excellent by Credit Karma standards but yet I didn't qualify for the rate shown. I received another invite from Credit Karma only this time it was through Auto Pay at the same rate, I applied through their site and my application was accepted but for some unknow reason it was cancelled. After doing some research I discovered both the companies, as well as a third Tresl, offer the same services all tied to Rate Genius. I have yet to hear back from them to explain why my application was cancelled but I assume it was because I didn't take to higher rate offered to me.

These people did the SAME thing to me…

These people did the same thing to me as they have done to others on here! Credit Karma said i had "Excellent" approval odds for a very good deal yet when i accepted good loan offer, they had me fill out info, submit documents and was told i had been approved. Then they cancelled my loan for some mysterious reason, called me back and apologized, then told me there was no way i could get said loan and instead offered me a whole other loan, which was NOT good. They did a HARD inquiry and in the end did NOT give me what they had initially promised, smh. NEVER AGAIN!

Changing rates AFTER documents signed

Trying to set up car insurance, I’m told I have to do everything via phone, have been asked to send private documents via text message, even when I can talk to my agent, Andrew Lawlor, I’m constantly asked for more and more documents that he never told me I needed. It’s been a 3 week process now and documents are signed, but now Andrew Lawlor is telling me that my rates are going to CHANGE?! No. The documents with the rates are SIGNED! He should never have had me sign the documents if he needed more paperwork submitted. Extremely unprofessional, he is a horrible agent. This is so unprofessional and causing so much distress. Would NOT recommend.

Waste of Time

I submitted an application to refinance my 2023 Bronco Raptor in response to a mailing I received from RateGenius on a Tuesday and when I checked the application status on Wednesday morning, it showed as canceled. I did not receive a notice of adverse action nor any update that my application status had been changed (and yes I checked SPAM). When I contacted them to find out what happened, I was given this explanation "Unfortunately, we were unable to find you an approval for the application due to the value of the vehicle being less than what’s still due on the loan. The payoff balance on the vehicle is too high for our lenders and they might require a large down payment to cover any negative equity. I apologize for any inconvenience, and we hope to serve you in the future." Naturally, I checked myself and the valuations for my vehicle on KBB and Consumer Reports were between $3,700 and $22,000 above my principle balance for the average and most optimistic valuations respectively. In addition, my principle balance is $6,000 lower than the original amount financed. When I asked what valuation was used on my vehicle, I was told that they could not provide this information in an email. My advice is to avoid doing business with this company as they lack transparency, credibility to deliver as advertised and the professionalism to communicate outcomes to potential customers.Jan 5, 2024 Update: I received a message from from RateGenius yesterday morning indicating that my application has been submitted for approval even though it was canceled on Jan 3, 2024 and still reflects that status as of today. Simply ridiculous.
