Got my eyes tested today in an independent opticians and prescription was same as Specsavers the previous year. When the glasses that Specsavers were checked it was discovered that the right lense was not matching the prescription by a large amount. So happy now that I have moved opticians. Avoid Specsavers, ignore the big advertisements
UPDATE Thursday 24.041 Glassess collected on 19.04, 2nd pair of glasses ready today - Thursday 24.04 Almost a Month since my visit. Specsaver - no need for me to DM you, you simply cannot look after your customers. If you are overwhelmed with the workload, hire more staff and definitely improve communication as no apologies were sent from your store to apologies for 2 weeks delay!Glasses were due on the 12th of April, to date no sign of them and no update from Specsavers. Communication appalling. Rang them Thursday to see would they have my glasses on Saturday the 12th as wanted to book my daughter for an eye test. I was told they don't know and there is plenty of free appointments if needed. Saturday the 12th, rang them at lunch. I was told that if glasses arrived they will text me. Of course no text, no glasses. Monday 14th still no glasses and no updates from them, not even mention apologies. There is plenty of local opticians that would be greatfull for your service as these people obviously aren't. Avoid, and support your local business. With these guys you will pay 100s€ for your glasses and you will be left waiting for weeks.
My wife broke the frame of her glasses. She went to specsavers portlaoise to see if they had the same frame in stock and transfer the glass from the old frame into the new frame. The first person told her that they had them in stock but it would be a week before they could get them. A second person then told her that they had no records of her and that they did not give her the glasses that she had with her. Then a third person came to see what the problem was. He went and checked the records and verified that they had supplied the glasses and was able to sort out the problem and transfer the lenses into a new frame.
i attended for my appointment the optician was very nice and extremely thorough, the staff are very nice my only issue is with the product, when i went to collect my glasses, the lense of the sunglasses were broken so i couldnt take them with me as they had to be re ordered,i took home 2 pairs one for reading and one for distance, that evening i checked my distance glasses and there was a chip in the lense so i had to go back again the next day, the man i dealt with was very nice and re ordered them again.I spent over €300 euros on glasses and im still waiting a week later for my order to be completed, so now im using my old glasses which have a different lense strength and the new reading glasses which are totally different, so my eyes are constantly trying to re adjust when i change them over which carnt be good for your eyes.
One ⭐ only because I can't leave no stars!!!!Somehow they have 4.5 ⭐ on Google!I used Specsavers Ballina Mayo Ireland booking the family in for eye checks and bought their glasses with all their upsales for three. My wife had cataracts developing and two years later went back for her eye check update. The appointment was booked by Specsavers at a day and time of their choosing (Thursday 12:15 pm) The Ballina store emailed - texted and phoned to confirm her time/date/attendance.She arrived 15 minutes before time and checked in with their front desk/reception and took a seat as instructed to wait Infront of the optometrist's office.40 minutes after her appointment time and still uncalled she went back to reception to be told she had been overlooked "oh! We forgot you.""Just take a seat for a minute and I'll see if we can fit you in.."Astonished she politely turned her kind offer down and left!Absolutely appalling our day completely wasted. She was visible to staff at all times. What in god's name did they think she was doing sitting there in their shop - in their waiting area for almost an hour as they walked past her? This franchise/ "partnership" is owned by two women who really need to be audited by Specsavers because to triple confirm an appointment causing a day to be wasted plus driving, parking etc..is amateur hour and appalling customer service.######To Specsavers reply######Happy to post my X post and my responses to Specsavers "DM us" request here if you'd like?I'm also happy to publish my wife's email chain with the "Retail Director" of the store in question. The first thing you will note is that in keeping with your trust pilot reply, and X messages - and emails nowhere in any of them is there anything resembling an apology. What an appalling customer experience this has been. My wife's experience can't be alone.
I am writing just out of annoyance and frustration with the very tedious process. Not targeted to any staff members as they were very lovely and I know they are just bound by protocols.I’ve been using contact lenses for easily more than 15 years. Attended for an annual checkup, minor tweaks to the prescription. Paid 40euros for the checkup which seemed fair. Trial lenses were ordered in, had to go in for a fitting session, and a checkup after I’ve got them in. Another 40euros out. Okay. Everything was going well, so popped down to order more lenses. No. Have to come back for ANOTHER checkup, that’s another 40 euros. And on top of that, whatever charge that’s going to be with the lenses. So I’m out 120 euros with no lenses.
I was misinformed from the start of my visit, I was told my child woukd not qualify for a free eyetest with the HSE, then my child was provided an eyetest with additional screening of retina without telling me the retina screening was optional. Then I was encouraged to buy her glasses with microgen lens costing over 300 euro, despite a very low recommended prescription number. I didnt feel comfortable buying thr glasses so I left and then contacted the HSE, got a free eye test for my child, who passes with no requirement for glasses! I have lost all trust in this company, they are interested in sales and sales only, not good advice and zero transparency.
