I have been having issues with cloudy lenses and went back to specsavers Dawson street several months ago. The girl was friendly but I felt a bit fobbed off with no solution. However, I went back again yesterday and explained to the young man named Matthew what had happened and that my problem still persisted. He had me take a seat and had my glasses looked at and found out I needed to clean them a certain way as my method was not working. He gave me cloths and explained the no fog could make a difference. He was kind and went out of his way to not fob me off. He said to come back if any more problems and he would be happy to help. Happy to say the no fog works. He made me feel like my isssue was important and so was I as a customer. I hope your company appreciate staff like him as he made me feel like I mattered.
I ordered three pairs of glasses (reading, intermediate for PC use, and driving) in December 2024. I collected them when due in January. The intermediate glasses were focussed at laptop distance rather than PC as requested.I phoned Specsavers and the girl insisted that I needed to return them to the store (no suggestion of an appointment being necessary).I brought them back to the store and an assistant began the testing rigmarole and I explained that they already had my test measurements and that the problem lay with the glasses. They insisted that I needed to see the optician and requested that I wait half an hour as she was out to lunch. I declined.I made an appointment and an optician measured the focal length that I desired and ordered a new set of lenses.I asked should I phone beforehand and was assured that I would get a call in the event that they were delayed,I showed up to collect the glasses the day after they were due and they were not present. There was no phone call.On my SIXTH visit I met with the manager who apologised profusely and concurred with my opinion that none of the toing-and-froing was necessary and he gave a complete refund by way of compensation.Lo-and-behold, it transpired that there was a slight flaw in both lenses that caught the sunlight from the window as I worked at my PC.I called the manager who was nothing short of terse with me as he insisted that they needed to have the glasses returned so as to inform the manufacturer as to the nature of the flaw.I have no intention of returning to Specsavers for a 7th and 8th visit. They treat me as though my time and energy are at their disposal.I have reported this through their online 'feedback' facility and received no response. For sheer incompetence they are hard to beat!psThey don't respond to messages on their dedicated 'feedback' system. Easier, apparently, to get in touch via their social media sugar.I have a suggestion for Specs: how's about you get in touch with me?How's about you send me a pair of properly functioning specs via post or courier? You have my measurements.I do not want to listen to more garbage - just send me the glasses!re Specs reply: the store in question is Tallaght. Fix it or don't, enough of the rubbish.
I must say everything was perfect in Specsavers The Crescent. The optician was so friendly and nice. The ladies that helped getting glasses and when picking up my glasses lovely. The reason I have only given one star was the telephone system trying to get a message re my order to the shop. I rang every day sometimes twice a day asking for The Crescent branch to get back to me. I even emailed to no avail. Your phone system is a waste of time
Money makers , solutions yes but with more money to be spend be AWARE if you buy designer brand frames, they do not have spares parts in case of damage ect… bought in October 2024 designer glasses , had an accident my glasses were bent, went to the shop in Gorey and a member of the staff straight them up but still not right, I asked to reemplace the parts in both sides as I’ve been in that situation before, turns out they don’t keep/have spares to repair them ( of course , that way you have to buy new frame , ok at 50% ) as the warranty only stands for 3 months and I’m over for a week I must to be the unluckiest person in the world that spend nearly 500€ in glasses and have to pay 100€ more because my warranty is expired a week ago . The staff always nice and polite but not really giving solutions or even bringing this to the manager attention to see if there is something they can do,they go by the book .Spect savers is ok to buy their frames 2 for 1 that u pay little money and if it brakes it won’t hurt to buy another one ,but if u want good stuff better shop around privately might be worth a while and they probably have spares parts in case of damage .Really disappointed, first time in 10 years leaving in Ireland I decide to do my test and glasses here and have such a bad experience ( will be the last too) from now onwards I’ll do them in my homeland be cheaper with better service. If you are foreign and go to your country regularly or even once a year get them done there with your local stores where u probably be more content with results and service.FAO THE BOARD having spares for especific frames such as springs cost nothing and is something easy to repair. Definitely not shopping with them anymore.
Staff are very friendly and do their job by upselling, which is the nature of the business, so gave it 2 stars for the staff. I have been buying their glasses for a few years, but this would be my last time. The price was astronomical for the value that I got. The frames are very flimsy plastic (I got the usual 2 for 1 (100EUR and 190EUR cost of frames only). They keep falling down my nose and I have gone in and adjusted them 3 times now (I need to see far and close so glasses can't be on the edge of the nose for it). When cleaning it just feels like it's going to fall apart....For the prices they charge, you would assume they would at least have a quality product.
Have been with Eyre square branch for years with no issues. Tuam branch has me going back and forward from October to January. Between wrong prescriptions and now having warped glasses “that sit well on my face” as stated by a member of staff but yet the glasses touch my eyelashes on my left eye while being miles away from my right . Concerning customer service and wish I took my business and money somewhere else many months ago.
What a waste of time! Went in at blanch store to get my eye sight checked up and requested the staff to give me in writting whatever my eye sight is coming up, as i am going through alot of other treatment at the moment so my GP wanted to have a eye sight checked properly.Mentione everything to staff at the start what i actually want from them and main reason why i am there.Met 3-4 different staff members during this time and at the end the last one staff memeber said she cannot give anything in writting ..There was alot of staff in the store but seems staff need more training about the services they can offer.I wish staff should have mention this to me at the start so i would not waste my 1 hour there and find an alternative place who actually have more trainned staff.Complete waste of time.
Had a really bad experience here starting in January 2025. A lens in my current pair of glasses got scratched so I went to Specsavers Dawson Street to get them reglazed as well as get a second pair reglazed to have as a backup. The man who did this for me was clearly unaware of the operations of the store as he told me I could pick them up in 10 days which would be a Sunday. On that Sunday, I called to see if they were in and I was told the lenses “should be in” but their lab doesn’t work on Sundays so they wouldn’t be able to install them. I then had to wait until I was in town which wasn’t for another 5 days. I received an email before that saying that the lens for my scratched pair had a flaw so they had to be redone but the others were fine. I went in to collect and immediately came back as the prescription in one lens was completely wrong.I then had to wait another week and a half, where I had sent another email and it wasn’t responded to until I followed up on social media. I was offered a refund at this stage. So I went in to pick them up and they were still wrong (the height was wrong). So they had to be sent back again, I will say the woman I dealt with at this incident was very nice and said she’d be the one dealing with it from there on out and also offered a free pair of sunglasses (I assumed I get them when I picked up my sunglasses).Cue another week and a half, where one pair came back but the other still had issues. I was sick so I had to wait to come in. I came in and the woman who helped me before was there but she got a different person to assist with me trying them on. This was the final straw. While the glasses were fine, I ended up leaving them and saying I didn’t want them anymore due the treatment I received from this woman. I did not get her name but she was very rude and condescending when I told her that the glasses were crooked (as I saw out of them) because one ear is lower and one eye is higher on the left side of my face. I tried to explain but she kept telling me to “look in the mirror” because they were straight on. When I told her that when I am wearing them I’m not looking in a mirror all day but out of the glasses she said, “So you want me to make them crooked?” I told her my current pair of glasses are not crooked (which you can see when you look at them on my face). At that point I was so upset I told her I don’t want the glasses and that this has been a waste of time. No apology, just “okay”. I sent an email on this explaining how upset I was after everything but no response to that either. No apology or anything. I don’t want the glasses anymore and this has cemented their complete loss of business. Go to a local optometrist instead.
Where to start? My eyes have been very fatigued and have had difficulty with lights and reading screens so I said I would get a new eye test in their Wilton store to see if they had gotten worse. The first guy who did the eye scans chewed gum throughout, then the optician seemed almost annoyed with me (I'm sorry if I tried to use the wrong hand to cover my eye). I also have concerns about the fact that while I was waiting for my test I could hear a member of staff taking someone's bank details over the phone for contact lenses.I was told I need a stronger prescription, but was also told that I needed all of these extras that weren't properly explained - I just wanted standard frames and something for screen protection/blue light, but somehow they were making this into €280, and without the screen protection (as far as I could tell). Even when I said I didn't need these, they were always added in, and having someone hover over me felt like a lot of pressure (and the sales assistant when I said frames were too small was trying to convince me that they weren't so I would buy them). They seemed annoyed when I wanted a copy of my prescription to look elsewhere, and after ordering glasses from somewhere I usually go to with the new prescription, I had almost 3 days of migraines and nausea because the prescription is clearly wrong.I'm sure the response will be that it's the glasses I got elsewhere, so I'm currently waiting on a second opinion to confirm their new prescription was to get me to buy expensive new frames. Personally very negligent staff, with poor attitude. As an update - never resolved, the store manager blamed me, even though they had even misdiagnosed me as shortsighted when I'm not at all! Avoid their Wilton store at all costs. Their customer service team also just passed me onto the store, so also zero help.
