235 euro for an eye test and one pair of glasses. they said something about the lens needing trimming and that costed from 50-100 euro I took the 50 euro trimming. and for that price even if i got a second pair it would cost me 450 euro. the lady that was helping me and the optician were good but pretty much spend my Thursdays Pay check in one trip that day.
Citywest store tried to upsell me on the OCT scan twice after I'd already declined it. Also my new frames were going to cost me twice what they did last year. When I said I would shop around, I was presented with two further lower prices. Lost all faith at this point and felt I was being fleeced at every turn. Be aware that the OCT scan is optional and you can refuse.***You can go in and get your free PRSI test and leave with your prescription and get your glasses elsewhere or online (as I have now done) for a fraction of the cost.***I did complete the feedback survey with my negative experience and have had no reply or contact from Specsavers to date.
When I lost my hearing aid, I went back to the audiologist in Tullamore, only to discover that I hadn't been given the app which you can use to find it. Too late! I was told a replacement would cost €500. I got both hearing aids under a health dept scheme for free. I've sent two emails and didn't even get an acknowledgement. So much for their 'we will put it right'.
Weird & unhelpful experience in Specsavers in Dawson street. Bought a pair of glasses where the lens kept popping out. A small repair required & these things happen. I asked to drop them in & get them tightened. They insisted that to repair them I stay in the shop while they did this??????. When I explained I had other committments & would like to drop them in & come back. They said they do NOT allow this & that I had to stay in the shop while they xsent it to their workshop to tighten them. They would not or could not explain the rationale for this ..repeatedley stating it was " policy". What an unecessary, unproductive, waste of my time & crappy customer experience. 4 of us in the family with glasses we are not coming back faced with & I could not recomend this rigidity & poor customer experience to anyone
Went to collect new glasses from Stillorgan during my lunch hour. I was waiting so long, I was told the reason for the delay was everyone was on their lunch including the Opticians. Only when I complained about all the staff being on lunch together did they send someone out to me. Don’t go into Specsavers Stillorgan on your lunch, as no one will be there to serve you.
I bought two pairs of glasses in Specsavers in Dundalk. The sunglasses the sales woman recommended are Salice 838RW Blue mirror which I purchased. Unfortunately the lenses got scratched and now after several visits to the shop and dealing with different sales people they said they cannot supply the lenses. The lenses clip on. It's a disgrace that Specsavers sell a product and cannot supply spare lenses. The sales staff do not seem to know much about the glasses they are selling.
I initially got 2 pairs of reading glasses, the lens kept falling out from day one. I bought them back, the member of staff just tighten the screw, the lens fell out again..I asked what they could do to fix them, the staff member just shrugged her shoulders. Extremely unprofessional. 2 weeks later my husband ordered 2 more pairs ( against my wishes) using nasty plastic frames. When my husband went in to collect them, the staff member was very snappy and demanding to know if they had texted him. He told them no, he had phoned them. The staff quality, and the quality of the glasses/ lens has fallen hugely over the past few years. Specsavers inn Waterford... AVOID!
On a recent visit to Specsavers, Galway the staff in the Optical section could not have been more pleasant, forthcoming and helpful. They volunteered information and answered questions in a polite and friendly manner and were a pleasure to deal with. However, my experience in the Auditory dept was not as good. I was told that I have moderate hearing loss but no information was volunteered as to what exactly this meant, how it might progress, which ear was worst affected and what my future options might be - there was no discussion whatsoever. When I made a return visit to find out more, nobody came out to speak with me - a message was sent back that I would receive an email which duly arrived containing the same information along with a chart showing the relative performance of each ear. Not immediately realising this ( I missed the tiny writing at the bottom which detailed it ) I went back to the store to ask and was greeted by a desk person in the most offhand manner who appeared to barely restrain her irritation at my apparent stupidity. Overall, not a pleasant experience and one I won’t repeat.
It's become apparent that all Specsavers are not the same. I could not believe how rude and dismissive the staff were to concerns about their service. I will never return and would advise people to use another branch or a different provider. From reading other reviews, which I wish I had in advance, it seems I'm not alone in this opinion. I recommend a review of staffing and enhanced customer training, you should be trying to build a customer base, not trying to extract as much money as you can from each person.
