Review Time
My mother purchased hearing aids from Specsavers. They are guaranteed until 2026. For some time they have been losing charge and need to be charged during the day which is totally unsatisfactory. She has visited SpecSavers numerous times with the issue and has been told they need to be sent away and the servicing time will be 3 weeks. I am bemused at this level of service or lack of service and cannot understand how SpecSavers can see this as acceptable customer service on a product that has a guarantee until 2026. This week one of the hearing aids would not charge at all and she had no choice but to have them sent for repair with the standard response of ‘this will take up to 3 weeks’. When she asked about an interim solution she got another standard response along the lines of ‘for health and safety reasons we cannot provide a temporary replacement’. My complaint is two fold. Why are her hearing aids losing charge 3 years out from their guaranteed life span ? And secondly why is a customer who is dependent on her hearing aids been left for up to 3 weeks without them ? Lastly I couldn’t find the facility in your website to call anyone to discuss or to contact on line.
Six months ago, I paid over 300 euros for my glasses. Despite following care instructions (I’ve been wearing glasses for over 50 years), they still ended up with scratches. I visited the store where I purchased them and also sent a complaint email to customer service. Their response stated that no warranty is offered after 100 days and suggested that the scratches were due to my handling of the glasses. There was no mention of a potential defect in the product. The anti-scratch treatment seems ineffective, if it was even applied to my glasses!!! I'm following up with a complaint email to the consumer protection agency.I also sent a DM (Facebook) to Specsavers 5 days ago.So far they only replied they have everything they need. Still no reply after almost 3 weeks Specsavers replies to every review on the same way:"Can you DM us on Facebook, X or Instagram so we can check this out for you, please?"What is the point apart from increasing your traffic in Facebook?
Visited 2 different branches in Limerick recently. Both seemed chaotic. Staff under pressure. Rushed in and out of opticians when you finally get to see them. Had an urgent issue & still waiting 40 minutes. Staff are pleasant enough but no sense of urgency. Are appointments over booked? Why can’t there be joined up thinking between stores to have patient records shared between them. I am no longer a customer of Specsavers after recently getting new glasses. I’ve had enough.
I got an eye test and hearing test. Both were done to a high standard. I ordered 2 pairs of glasses. I went to collect them a few days later. One pair were not to my prescription. A week later and I have not received the right pair which are for everyday use

If I could provide a negative star rating I would however I am forced to give a single star. This store is totally unorganised and seems to be run by school children who have to giggle in between sentences. We were called on the phone and asked to collect a childs glasses at 2.30PM however having had bad experience before when collecting from Spec Savers in Carlow we gave them an extra 2 hours and arrived just after 4.30PM. Shock they could not find the glasses then said we were collecting them a week early to then tell us oh wait they are upstairs followed by a ten minute wait to then be told all opticians are busy and we would have to wait until one was available before they could release the glasses and after another 20 minutes and having asked to speak to a manager who never appeared I was forced to walk out of the store without the glasses. I have never experience such a terrible service. There are far better local Opticians in Carlow than this disgrace of a company who have no respect for their customers. I can only advise anyone considering to use the services of Spec Savers in Carlow to consider the bad service and lack of respect and to then give their business to a local opticians such as SARAH YOUNGS just around the corner who have respect for their customers and who provide a 5 Star Service. This is a 100% Genuine review of the experience I had with Spec Savers and I have chosen to place this review on the basis of the lack of respect shown to customers and to the fact this is not the first time we have found Spec Savers lacking when it comes to organisation. Avoid and go to a local Opticians who will respect you.
As a senior (73) I send high praises to Specsavers Cavan. Luke assisted with my new glasses after the optician presented a thorough examination, both so professional and patient. Prices and options were clearly explained. I especially appreciated the safe record keeping as it had been over four years since I needed to be seen for updates and Luke could easily refer to my prior information.Next I visited for a thorough hearing test (no charge) when Kieran explained, in easy to understand (and hear), results to myself and my husband. Again, he was patient, friendly and I left feeling confident with my choices to come in the future.No pressure. No high drive to make a sale. All services at Specsavers Cavan are extremely good, provided quickly, efficiently, and in a friendly manner. We highly recommend them.Jen Stemes, Ballyconnell
Booked an appointment through the PRSI link.And was told I'll be sent an appointment date/time if I was approved. Just to get there then be told I'm off by a few months and come back then.Could of emailed,msged me in anyway over the two week period. But no after driving 8 miles in either direction first thing in the morning on my day off.
