300 machines in the club while 500 peoples training,Coaches that they are mentally unstable managers that are there for everything else but not to help the clients, dirty toilets and environment. Its all about the money … if the fitness capacity is till 500 y need to keep like this not to let more and more people inside because its a nightmare but they don’t care they want just money.
Yesterday, a personal trainer “nicely asked” me not to use the TRX cable because she needed it for her training. She informed me she only needed 5 minutes. I double checked, and she confirmed: 5 minutes. Enough time for my warm-up. I waited 10 minutes, but since the group was still chatting, I started my training with the TRX cable. The first time I used it, she apologised but showed signs of dissatisfaction. The second time, she complained, arguing that at least she had asked me nicely not to use it, and now I was using it without asking beforehand. She indeed asked me nicely not to use it. No problem. Gyms are usually crowded on Saturdays, and we need to cope with that. In fact, if she had informed me she was JUST STARTING the training with her clients and therefore needed the TRX cable for more than 30 minutes, there wouldn’t have been a problem. I could do my cardio first and save the training for later. As a Sportcity customer, the last thing I expect is to get told off by another customer. I can even think she took the freedom to complain when she realised I wasn’t Dutch, but I prefer to think we won’t need to add a racist layer to it. She probably just wanted to keep a good impression with her customers. This is just a heads-up to improve the communication with customers. It is a shame because this was my first bad experience after almost 3 years working out regularly at Sportcity Mariahoeve. The facilities are great, the machines are brand new, and they fix them quickly when needed. The staff have always been adorable and helpful, as well as other customers. I never had ANYTHING close to this experience, even when I asked someone to take turns with me or asked how many series they had left. But since I see personal trainers given higher priority than customers, I am glad to cancel my membership and find a gym that respects and welcomes customers.
My club (Overvecht) has been close for very long and because of my schedule I had to exercise at home, I got one email saying that because of the snow it’ll be closed for a few days and just yesterday it appeared open but then it said it was gone be close until Feb 1
I think the club installation and equipment is now, after the last revamp, very good, with very little room for improvement. Maybe only changing the old power racks for some newer and better. One more point for improvement could be that the gym staff woudl be more present on the working out areas, giving some tips specially when observing people who are doing exercises wrong with risk of getting injured. Finally, a pain point where I suggest to try to work, despite of being very difficult these days, is educating customers to not dive deep in their phones while using any of the work out equipments. Sometimes, people expend very long time browsing/testing/scrolling, while other are waiting. I think that a mail campaign, signage and promotion in the tv displays could at least start to raise awareness and some people become conciuous that there are others waiting to use the equipment. Thank you very much for letting us provide this feedback, hopefully you find it constructive and useful. Best regards, Jorge Lopez Silveiro
