I signed up for a month's free trial, and decided not to proceed. Following the instructions on the email I received, I phoned the 020 number and notified a gentleman of my decision. On 15 August £14.95 was removed from my account. I phoned the 020 number again, to be told it was nothing to do with them and to phone a 0203 number which does not appear on the email. No human interaction possible. I emailed the address shown on the initial email (subscriptions/auctiontechnologygroup) and have had no response. A masterclass in user-unfriendly corporate communications.
Why does The Saleroom support such underhand auction sites as the newly trading ‘Five Ways Assets’ which operate a very different operating model compared with more transparent traditional auction houses? No matter what your purchase an automatic £354 charge for ‘administration’ on top of your initial hammer price plus auction house and sale room charges. In my case in a relatively low value purchase ends up with a 200% additional cost I didn’t expect…..and it could be worse so watch out. All adds up to a very unsatisfactory experience. Sure I admit I should have read the T and C’s more carefully…… but I can’t believe such rip off tactics hidden in the very small print is ethical and feels morally wrong. It brings honorable auction houses into disrepute and shouldn’t be supported by the sale room in my opinion. Buyer Beware! To get out of my error and obligations I forfeited the payment I made for my first invoice from the company ( £240) which didn’t hint at their 2nd invoice containing these ludicrously unfair and punitive charges. They knew if it was all contained in the first invoice many more wouldn’t pay up.
I recently purchased a few lots at a local auction using the internet and by default thesaleroom. After the sale, my debit card was charged twice for the same purchase. Contacting thesaleroom - particularly James and later Hasina - it was discovered after an investigation that the fault lay with my bank and not thesaleroom. Both James and Hasina were remarkably helpful with the matter, given the volume of sales transactions that they must deal with on a daily basis. Excellent service!
HERE`S THE THING.......As a serious dealer when I see something that catches my eye....I note the auctioneer......I THEN GO AND SEE IF THE SAME AUCTIONEER IS ON EASYLIVE......WHY ?.....BECAUSE THE SALEROOM IS SO BAD ITS ALMOST UNUSABLE.......TERRIBLE SITE AND TOTALLY USER UNFRIENDLY....AND ITS MORE EXPENSIVE.....I DETEST IT. IT NEEDS A TOTAL AND COMPLETE OVERHAUL.I see you have replied....pretty pointless when everything is pointed out above....just too lazy to get your site up to date.....heres a tip.....pick an auctioneer....then see how quick it is to compare navigating a search on bothe sites.......I CAN GUARANTEE EASYLIVE WILL WIN HANDS DOWN
