Do not use Udemy

Do not use Udemy. I am an instructor, they fail to pay me each money by claiming there is an error with my bank. It is impossible to contact Udemy. Their support page only has a chatbot which does not work. When i emailed Udemy support it sent a link to the support page and the chat bot yet again.

Refund denied: a 19.5-hour WordPress letdown

Yesterday I bought a Wordpress/Elementor course with 30 day money back guarantee. Today, after following about 20% of the course, I've been denied a refund because "you have already viewed a large part of the course". Be careful out there. You may not get your money back. It's a terrible course with the instructor being overly verbose and repetitive. And kicking the can down the road with “don’t worry, we’ll get to it later”. Very frustating.

Instructors Deserve Better I felt I…

Instructors Deserve Better I felt I was treated Unfairly by UdemyI’m writing this review as an instructor who tried to follow Udemy’s guidelines, asked fair questions, and ended up being shut down for it.I was given 14 days to either sign an affidavit or edit my course, but before that time had even passed, my course was banned. I then received a message suggesting I “unpublish” the course, even though it had already been disabled. The logic is baffling. What’s worse is the total lack of transparency. I simply asked: what part of my content is considered infringing? I received no response. No details. No explanation.Just a ban. How can an instructor fix something when we aren't even told what’s supposedly wrong? It felt like I was being punished and shut down just for wanting to understand and improve. As instructors, we are told we are responsible for our content, fair enough but how can we take responsibility without basic communication from Udemy? This has left me feeling silenced, disrespected, and shut down. I invested time and heart into my courses, and instead of support, I was hit with automated decisions and no answers. I poured time, energy, and passion into my work. For Udemy to not only disable one course, but ban everything I had published, without explanation,is incredibly disheartening. If you are a course creator thinking of working with Udemy ,beware. There is little recourse, and once they make a decision, you are out. No proper dialogue, no transparency, no chance to correct anything.Instructors deserve better.

Don't use as a lecturer

Don't use as a lecturerSevere problem with piracy. I found a few weeks ago that a lot of my courses had been pirated from Udemy. They do nothing to try to fix this. Just bot replies from support saying there is nothing they can do to prevent the pirates

Hit or miss, but worth digging through

I've taken a bunch of coding courses on Udemy. Some of them were surprisingly good, others felt like someone read a blog post and hit record. The platform is cool for casual learning, especially when courses are on sale (which is basically all the time). But there is 0 consistency across instructors and sometimes you won't know a course is trash until you are a few hours in.Still for $10-15, I've picked up a few solid skills I've used in projects.Just wished they had better quality control.

Udemy is a rip-off

I am a long-standing SME and Instructor in IBM MQ.I wanted to update my certification, and so bought their trial exams as prep.I didn't even get to the end of the first to know the Udemy author must be a fifth-grader at best. Many of the questions were garbled, nonsensical, vacuous or repetitive, and answers to the rest plain wrong a high proportion of the time.A refund was promised, and I claimed it. Nothing happened. Luckily I had not spent a lot of money. My advice: stear clear of these people. Use a reputable training outfit.

It was wonderful, UNTIL…

It was wonderful, UNTIL…When there’s an issue that their automated system doesn’t handle, this company is IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of.I have spent in the neighborhood of $4000 on courses, yes, no joke. I have almost 150 courses. All of a sudden, their system is blocking me from making a purchase. Their automated system apparently doesn’t know what the heck I’m talking about even though I took 36 screenshots and tried to send them to the instructor whose course I tried to purchase and to Udemy Support. Their automated system sent me in circles answering the same questions over and over again and I requested to create a support ticket and I thought it did, but I never received anything in my email as a verifications. I tried handling it or explaining it with your automated system with repeatedly until I finally gave up and said F YOU.For some unknown reason, this company has made it near impossible to get a hold of anyone directly. I’m not sure why. But this is piss poor customer service. Especially considering the amount of money that I’ve spent on their site purchasing their courses.
