Review Time
I've had a couple of good courses on Udemy, which is why, when I required support, I was hugely disappointed. The support system is such that even after you've thoroughly read their help (which they direct you to) and tried to defeat their help bot (which still directs you the help you've already read and was no help), they will still send you an email SENDING YOU TO THEIR HELP. Still have no idea if the issue I have can be fixed, or they can refund. There was no automatic refund, despite me apparently being able to have one for 30 days.I'm not sure of their business model: keep accepting the customer's money, until they need support, then accept the loss?
Platform is good on the surface. They need to implement a way to vet some of their teachers. They have a few scammers/hype trainers, positivity gurus that waste your time. Many of their teachers have present elementary courses as "master classes." The problem is that they are neither master classes nor easy to understand for learning fundamentals. I tried learning Blazor and unfortunately, 1hr on youtube > 20 hrs on the udemy blazor masterclass. I would not recommend Udemy due to this.
I had a paid subscription for 3 months. My goal was to learn about and set up Google Analytics 4 and learn how to target internationally with SEO. I picked courses with good reviews. For the first goal I tried 3 courses. None of them were up-to-date! I could not follow along and set up GA4. For the 2nd goal there were no courses availble at all.The courses would have been good quality if they had been up to date. The Udemy setup and site were fine too.I left my review twice on the site and never received any reply or an offer to try again with other suggestions. Specific reviews about the courses that I submitted, just vanished and were not published. That explains a lot.It was a total waste of money for me while in my opinion, it *could* have been a valueable experience.
I don't know from where do I start. The LMS known as Udemy dot com offers the worst user experience mankind have seen in this digital era. The video player gets stuck with a black screen and videos stop loading even at a high speed internet. There's a long list of errors, glitches and what not. I hope they don't underpay their web developers so they work properly and care about providing good user experience. And courses? Well, if I talk about courses that'll open a whole pandora box. In short, the courses are just knowledge bases that you can get from Youtube for free. They don't teach you practical or guide on how to actually get a job after completing a course. Please stay away from Udemy!
I never expected to be writing this, but Udemy has proven itself to be an unreliable and deceptive platform that arbitrarily locks paying users out of their accounts.I purchased multiple courses on Udemy, believing that I would have lifetime access as advertised. However, without any prior notice, they suddenly suspended my account, barring me from accessing the courses I paid for. I have provided them with every single piece of information they requested—receipts, account details, proof of purchase—yet they continue to stall, refuse to reinstate my account, and provide misleading responses. The Alarming Truth About Udemy’s Practices🔴 They suspend accounts without warning, blocking users from their purchased courses indefinitely.🔴 They drag out the resolution process while preventing access to content YOU PAID FOR.🔴 They mislead customers by asking about irrelevant transactions instead of addressing the real issue.🔴 Their order confirmations omit crucial payment details (e.g., last four digits of the card), making it impossible to verify purchases independently.🔴 They act as if they own your courses, shutting you out at will, despite your financial investment. The Reality of Using UdemyIf you think you “own” your Udemy courses, think again. At any moment, they can decide to revoke your access and leave you with no recourse. No matter how much money you’ve spent, you are at their mercy.I have cooperated fully, yet Udemy has done nothing but delay, misdirect, and ignore the issue. If they can do this to me, they can do it to anyone. This is not just poor customer service—it’s deliberate deception and a direct violation of consumer rights.Consider This Before Using Udemy Again✅ Your account is not safe—you can be locked out at any time, without explanation.✅ Udemy will take your money but won’t protect your access.✅ Their support is evasive and manipulative—don’t expect a resolution when you need it.✅ You have no real control over your purchases—what you paid for can vanish overnight. This is a serious warning to all users: If Udemy can arbitrarily take my courses away, they can do the same to you. Before spending another cent on their platform, ask yourself: Do you really trust a company that can erase your access at will?If you have had a similar experience, speak up. Let’s hold Udemy accountable before more users fall into this trap.#UdemyScam #OnlineLearning #ConsumerRights #AccountSuspended #AvoidUdemy
I've used Udemy for marketing related courses. Good variety. Overall the courses provide decent quality but given the low price I think it is a good choice. However, if you are looking for something advanced that covers real life examples you better try other alternatives.
Udemy displays very dishonest practices across numerous parts of their business: from course content and reviews, to fake discounts and billing/subscription.They refuse refunds even if you just signed up for an annual plan within a minute ago. It's incredibly hard to get in touch with a person. They use a chat bot that keeps routing you to FAQs or nonexistent landing pages - anything but actually answer your question or offer real help. Most of the course content I saw was easily available for free elsewhere.I wouldn't recommend Udemy whatsoever.
I have recently become self-employed so bought the Personal Plan as it seemed like a cost-effective way to get access to a wide-range of courses on different subjects. This was a mistake - the Personal Plan experience is atrocious. 1. They claim the courses included in the plan are curated but this is not true as some of the top courses on the platform are not included.2. Once you get the plan you no longer see courses that aren't part of the plan - presumably this is to disguise how many courses aren't part of it.3. Unlike the Business Plan you don't Enrol on courses in the Personal Plan - you have to add them to a List which isn't even searchable making returning to courses you've started cumbersome.4. The "Recently Viewed" list frequently does not work so you can't even reliably use that to return to the last viewed course.5. I have courses where the UI says "Start Course" that I am at least 30% through.Worst of all, Customer Support is virtually non-existent.The quality of the courses ranges from very good to abysmal but I have personally never had an issue getting a refund on the bad ones. Overall, some of the courses are good and if you pay the weekly sale price they can be picked up for £12.99-£14.99 they are good value. If you buy a bad course you can get a refund. The Personal Plan however is appalling and should be avoided.
