The Viennapass is a very good idea. Even so, I think they need to improve their queue management. We encountered some problems. For example, we couldn't get into the riding school because the Spanish tour had been at 10:00 and the English tour was already full. We also had to wait 6 hours to enter the Sissi Museum. We arrived around 11am and they gave us our tickets for almost 5pm. And, if you want to visit Schönbrunn Palace, you should go to the Group Center very early to book a time slot. The Vienna Pass only grants access to some of the palace's rooms. For an additional €9, you can enter the entire palace. The gardens are free for everyone. On the one hand, all of this information should be clearly provided before purchasing the ViennaPass. On the other hand, online booking of visit times for each site could be implemented so that everyone can plan their own itinerary without wasting time or missing out on attractions.
At schonbrun we had to activate our vienna pass due to timeslot. Maybe i missed that, but then it came clear that I had to buy an upgrade to visit more than a very small peace of the palace. In my opinion that should be more clear when ordering the vienna pass. For all the other musea it was perfect.
The ViennaPass website doesn't indicate that a €9 supplement is required to visit the royal apartments, but even when we showed the ViennaPass at the Schönbrunn ticket office, they didn't mention anything. We couldn't pay the supplement later because we had already used the ViennaPass entrance fee and would have had to pay for the entrance fee plus the supplement. Typical Teutonic rigidity. The problem isn't whether the royal apartments were included or not, the problem isn't paying €9. The problem is that neither the ViennaPass nor the ticket office informed us, and this prevented us from paying the €9 and preventing us from seeing the royal apartments. What a disorganization!!!
I made a 3-day visit to Vienna and bough a 5-visit Flexi pass for 90 euros. I used it for the hop-on, hop-off buses and 4 entrances. In my opinion it didn't worth it and the same would be expanded for the unlimited Vienna Pass. The buses are extremely slow and for the rest of the entrances I paid all together approximately the same as the regular entrance. If one has 3 days in Vienna, go to a Stadt Opera play (not included in the ticket), spend a whole day in one of the magnificent museums and use the extremely practical metro-trams. The city needs to be enjoyed slowly and not to run around. The Vienna pass might worth it if you have something like one week to spend there.
