AirNZ are charging full fares for a budget (Wamos) charter airline experience. The seats do have more room than normal but that is the only good thing I would say. On a Perth to Auckland service, so overnight, not one single person could work out how to recline, so full flight slept upright all in the hardest seats Ive ever sat in. Catering is still AirNZ, so cant complain about that but I ordered GF and it was horrendous. Cabin crew, extremely rude, I was shouted at from many rows away “to get out of the way” while trying to put bags in over head compartment. AirNZ’s most profitable route, and this is what you do? Poor form!
Air New Zealand used Wamos Airlines on their New Zealand to Perth direct flight. I had read rather disturbing reviews about Wamos and was somewhat concerned about flying with them, after all i did book and pay to fly with Air New Zealand.I had a nothing to worry about - the flights to Perth and back to NZ were great. The service on both flights were fabulous, the staff were friendly and attentive. I had enough room for a very comfortable 6.5 hour flight - i was very impressed, thanks Wamos
Where to begin? Air New Zealand you’ve again let down your Perth-Auckland passengers by chartering this third rate, budget airline. I could understand if it was used on the shorter routes to Melbourne or Sydney or Brisbane but to force passengers on a 6 hour overnight flight to endure rock hard seats with no headrests indicates you do not value your clients. No wifi, a meagre selection of ancient movies and tv shows, revolting food and incomprehensible inflight announcements. I’ve been flying this route with Air New Zealand for 30+ years and having the Dreamliner really improved the flight but this Wamos charter is an all round horrible experience and one I won’t be repeating. I’d rather have the small inconvenience of doing Perth-Melbourne-Auckland hop than endure Wamos again. Goodbye Air New Zealand. It was great while it lasted.
Just flew business class with Wamos Air , paid over 3000 euros return Via BOA airlines Service was ok - food offered was pathetic for an 11.5 hour flight a salad was a cheese slice with a grape on top Felt guilty to ask for another orange juice They have a section in business class they cover with curtains if you sit there you get better food Overall Wamos was sh**
After seeing so many average reviews I was pleasantly surprised with all aspects of my Perth - Auckland flight.Plane was clean and equipped as any normal airline, crew were attentive and efficient, food was airline food similar to any other airline, a good choice of movies. Would not hesitate using this service, in fact flew back to Perth with them and just as good again.
Both flights Wamos Air said they didn't have gluten free food for me. We had to show them our booking to proof it was requested because they acted like it was our fault. The crew hardly spoke English so they had trouble understanding us but they were very snobby. On the first flight after a lot of discussing I was finally given a gluten free meal but I was guilt tripped that it was from a crew member. On the way back I was offered a bag of nacho crisps. Perth to Auckland flight is over 6 hours long.
AKL - PER (4 March 2023).Booked Air NZ but with the extension of the summer arrangement the flight was eventually operated by WAMOS. To provide some balance to the other reviews I found them to be quite a pleasant crew and the aircraft was good. These services still seem to be catered by Air NZ so those rubbishing the food offering aren't really fairly reviewing the operator. Some things to be aware of are that the entertainment system is not Air NZs. It had a lot of good content in English but unlike Air NZs IFE you lack the ability to order food and drink. The air conditioning as others have mentioned was my only real gripe. Boiling hot during boarding, cold after engine starts, boiling again airborne, frozen after the meal and had to wrap up in blankets. But overall they're doing a good job and are proving very reliable while Air NZ sorts is aircraft availability.
