We decided to use an area of grass in our back garden for a raised bed planter. Having checked various suppliers of similar products and after a friend's recommendation we looked at WoodBlocX website and quickly decided to choose a design from them. With the help of Calum in the design team we opted for a bespoke design. We were kept up to date with the progress of the order and delivery was prompt. The assembly pack was clear and easy to follow. As the instructions point out the area you're building on MUST be level. This was worth the time and effort as it made the build more straightforward and even a bit of fun with family and young grandson helping. WoodBlocX are a great Company to work with, the product is top quality and should stand the test of time. The finished build looks fantastic and we highly recommend WoodBLocX for any garden project. We're now looking forward to filling and planting it. Thanks to WoodBlocX and all the team.
Hard work, some disappointments on the way but pleased with the end result. My original design was rejected by the Design Dept but they were helpful in achieving a reasonable compromise (web site slightly misleading where it says "any shape any size"). Delivery was on time and product well packaged. Very surprised by how wet and green the wood was when first delivered. Left it in the sun a couple of days to dry out before commencing the build (I now understand that wet and green at delivery is normal). Wood heavy duty and should be robust but very disappointed by how roughly hewn some of the blocks were and even more disappointed by the very roughly drilled dowel holes (pictures attached). I expected far more precision in that respect. Some of the blocks had nice tight grain others had a very woolly and loose grain that gave rise to untidy edges (and a lot of splinters!). The build is on level hard ground so no problems maintaining a sound and even surface. Despite the level foundation I found the build much harder work than anticipated. Some of the dowels fitted easily and squarely into the recessed holes. Many others took a lot more force and did not sit as squarely into the recesses. This created some difficulty when adding the next layer. The dowel removal tool became an essential piece of kit as I had to try and adjust the levels to line up the next layer correctly. Got there in the end but it took a lot of time. The end result is pleasing and the wood has quickly mellowed to a nice colour. One of the capping pieces has already developed a split so I will keep an eye on that. I assume that if it gets worse then I will be able to get a replacement.
