Overall, working with Xlibris has been fun. The staff are great and very helpful with the production of the work, except the editing is strictly up to the author. A tough rule.Shipping charges to my native Canada by Purolator are very high. The offered solution is to purchase several copies and hold them for distribute from here.Still, the American market is huge, although I missed my chances at some of the "workshops" from the ALC They may have talked about promotion in the USA. Some tips or assistance in this matter of drawing attention to the book in the States, even now, would be helpful. Meanwhile, I can only offer praise for the production team.
Although my Covid-19 Cartoon infection guide is very close visually to what I had in mind, the process for a first time author was long on exuberance from the sales staff, and was short on facts. It seems to truly circulate my work, I would need to add a few thousand dollars to the original price. As a former salesperson myself, I wish the entire requirements had been set out at the beginning. I doubt that I would have agreed. Because I was not able to pony-up somewhere from $1500-5000 additionally, questioned your methods, and had to refuse and wrote a critical review (which was never responded to) I can't give a better score. No one I spoke to had even seen the work I submitted which for a book of pictures is surprising. Because of the time sensitive nature of this book I'm going ahead, myself, promoting it to the News people and celebrities who I worked with. So wish me luck. Melanie Demitri
I opened the book and before I came to page one I found two printing errors. These printing errors are in the page of thanking individuals for their help. The name Lily should be placed on the line above , not just hanging there by it's self. The last line in acknowlegments should be brought up into the last paragraph. Not just hanging there. This will reflect badly on the printer of this book.
So I stupidly purchased the audiobook. They used someone who doesn't know basic english. But because I didn't do a pronunciation guide, it's my fault. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. ALWAYS EXCUSES FOR NOT DELIVERING ON THEIR PROMISES!!!!!Who says two Corinthians except Trump???? Who doesn't know Najee, one of the greatest jazz musicians???Didn't she have a dictionary???Corrections Needed: 2 Corinthians is Second Corinthians Najee is Nah' gee 1 Corinthians is First Corinthians goatee is go tee not goo teeREALLY???
I'm a first time author & I chose Xlibris simply based on what I read online about them. I won't say that it's been an EASY process, but I will definitely say that someone from the Xlibris team was there to help me EVERY STEP OF THE WAY! I've learned so much through this process & I'm truly grateful for how available & quick to respond Xlibris has been anytime I had a question. I would recommend Xlibris to anyone looking for a publisher & if I ever write another book, I will use them again. THANK YOU, Xlibris, for all your help!!
Xlibrus was the 2nd publishing company I used , for my 2nd book. From the beginning I felt they were upfront & clear about the packages they have, what I would get for my $. The representatives I worked with were very nice! The process seemed faster than the other company, & easier to navigate. The publishing process also was faster& I was amazed at how fast my books were available on line!!! I feel I got More benefits for less money than the other company. The book is beautiful & made of sturdy, brightly-colored covers! Also receiving hard back books was awesome!!! I am very happy & will use them again!
I have been truly impressed with Xlibris and tell all budding authors about their amazing support. However, the only thing that both disappoints and frustrates me is the USA taxation. I don’t live in USA, I have no plans of ever visiting USA, I am an Australian citizen, have paid Australian taxation my whole life so why should the US government deduct tax from me? Until I retired, my accountant was able to get me a refund but now I no longer pay tax, I still get US tax deducted. For this reason, I warn everyone I talk to about Xlibris, about the greedy US tax department.I decided not to buy any more copies of my book when I retired because essentially I’d lost my main networking, however I have been invited to do a number of speaking engagements in the next few months and many attendees buy a signed copy of my book at the conclusion of my presentation. I ordered more copies and they were delivered that same week! That takes some beating. Thanks Xlibris.
