Wish I could give this company 0 stars. Purchased insurance for a concert with ticketmaster who use Allianz Insurance. I was unable to attend the concert due to a serious medical emergency and have been trying to get a refund. The two companies have been sending contradicting messages regarding lots of excessive documentation that they 'require'. They are purposefully lengthening the process of requesting a refund and making communication more difficult so that people will give up on their claims and let the greedy companies keep their money. Both companies should be ashamed of themselves.
Warning - Allianz are advertising single trip travel insurance for under 18's travelling alone on their website. Got a quote and checked the term and conditions which didn't contradict this, but when called they said they had to be travelling with someone over 18. You can still take this out online so please be aware.
Going out of their way to reject my claim! Our flights were cancelled on the way home from Tanzania, with the airline offering a 10 day wait as the only alternative. Called Allianz and asked about getting home ASAP so the guy said to book the flights home and submit a claim once we landed.Claim went in - rejected on the basis that it was an "airline" issue.Wake up Allianz! If the airline had helped us out, we wouldn't have needed insurance to fall back on.Not covered for delayed departure or missed departure - even said that if we had chosen the extra 10 days abroad, the insurance wouldn't cover that either.Almost all other policies have travel disruption included (or for an additional fee), but the most expensive package we could buy from Allianz doesn't.What a joke!
I have never experienced such terrible customer service in over 35 years working in the financial services industry. We have travel insurance through my bank account therefore thought it would be fit for purpose, silly me. This year we had to claim for the first time ever. We had to pay up front and claim back! What if we didn’t have the money?! This was not an insignificant claim. We have just finally been refunded after 15 weeks, the last 6 of which I was completely & constantly trying ignored. As per other reviews on here the stalling tactics, repetitive asking for info they already have, poor processes, left hand not knowing what right hand is doing etc etc. The complaints procedure does not even have timescales published. You get offered the Ombudsman services all the time, but you can’t go to them with no decision. Pathetic. I feel very sorry for their poor phone centre staff, they are clearly trained to empathise but they have no control over the customer journey and there is no escalation process. I can only guess the turn over is high and the company should be embarrassed putting them in these situations. As others have said, avoid like the plague unless you want added stress at a time that you are already stressed. Allianz, if you have read all of this please don’t bother replying with the “we’ll contact you to discuss” line as you won’t and I’m not interested in anything apart from you dealing with my complaint, which is still outstanding. My payment was advised by a text! No apology. After all the nonsense. Sadly I can’t rate you as 0 stars.
We have worldwide travel insurance with Allianz as part of our Platinum NatWest bank account. We had to make a difficult decision to cancel a holiday to the Maldives on the advice of a doctor due to a very unexpected pregnancy and the Maldives having a risk of Zika virus. NatWest terms and conditions stated that we would be covered for cancellation if I had fallen pregnant unexpectedly and a doctor advised us not to travel, which was the case so we were fairly hopeful and confident the claim would be hassle free. We submitted our claim via the online hub and were asked to provide the booking confirmation, cancellation invoice, medical report confirming pregnancy and a medical certificate from the doctor justifying the reason for cancellation. Within 3 months of opening the claim, we had the full amount of money we had lost (minus the excess) in our bank account so an excellent experience and outcome. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is because communication was very slow and sporadic (one or two emails within that time requesting further information or giving us an update. Emails that I initiated were not responded to), but apart from that, we are very happy and relieved. Thank you Allianz/Natwest.
Avoid this company like the plaque. I started the travel insurance claims process in August 2022 and it still has not been settled. They keep asking me to provide the same documentation that has been provided umpteen times previously and it is clear this policy is a complete waste of money.
Tried to make a claim as wasn’t able to attend a concert because my mum is terminally ill and only has a matter of days left to live. They said I need to provide medical reports to support my claim. I’m not bloody lying!! As if I’ve got time to try and sort stuff like that out. I’ve got enough to deal with just now!! This company make it as difficult as they can for you to make a claim. Absolute joke under my circumstances. Avoid!!
