Since the new management took over the hotel is going down hill fast. 2 times they charged us extra for no reason and when we complaint about it to the customer service, they played down, but the fact it is illegal to charge my credit card without letting me know. You better find another hotel that cares about their customers. Be careful and verify your credit card.
Created a reservation for a hotel for Oct 22. Submitted the order and received a confirmation for Oct 5 (the current day). Called both booking-agent (Expedia) and the Hotel (Best Western) IMMEDIATELY to correct the issue, neither were willing to do anything, and both refused to fix the obvious error on the date, or refund. This hotel is adjacent to the university my daughter is taking classes at. In order to scam us out of 1 day's rent, they are foregoing all the weeks/months we would have stayed in the future. Congratulations.
Did some college visits this weekend so we stayed at two Best Westerns - Oswego, NY and Chesapeake Bay North, MD - the experiences were very different but yielded the same score. The BW in Owego was totally outdated, dingy and just all around low end BUT the staff was awesome and friendly, the sheets were super clean and nice, and the coffee was pretty decent. The BW Chesapeake Bay was definitely upgraded and more modern but there were annoying things about this hotel. In the room, the pillows were like little hard squares, the bedspread was rough, and the lamp by the bed must not have been plugged in, which was a problem for a light source as well as a charger next to the bed; nearest outlet was across the room. The shower was a little moldy (not sure granite is a good choice for shower walls, but…), the curtain didn’t hold the water in, the towels were not the freshest, and if you are going to spackle a wall, maybe paint it afterwards. Breakfast at both hotels were very basic; the BW Chesapeake Bay had clementines and English muffins, but was basically in the lobby. The coffee at CB was literally water- undrinkable - and the milk ran out of the machine by 7am, which means it wasn’t freshly filled that day. The staff at the front desk didn’t seem to want to be bothered with any of it, and instructed us to use the half empty room temperature milk for cereal for the coffee. All in all, I would NOT stay at BW Owego again unless they upgraded a lot (but again, great staff and good coffee!), and I would stay at Chesapeake Bay if I HAD to but it would NOT be my first choice…and I would go out to get coffee, for sure. Not overly impressed with the Best Western Brand overall and although some of them offer large updated rooms, it seems like you never know what you’re going to get with this two star, inconsistent chain of hotels.
We stayed at bw in west palm beach Florida because we had to evacuate because hurricane Ian. We had to take our fur baby. Everytime I've had to evacuate they have always been nice to waive pet fee but not this hotel. They charged me $50 and taxes on top of that. First time ever had to pay during an emergency situation. U can do better best western. Won't use them again !! Talked to manager William Murray and he didn't seem to care he just wanted to make his money. Charging a refundable deposit is understandable but BW you can do better. My home got flooded and the extra $50 would of come in handy. Oooo and we didn't have a coffee maker in our room. Couldn't take a shower one night cause no hot water.
The hotel, Best Western Murphy North Carolina, had bed bugs and when reported to staff the guy at night was rude and dismissive basically calling me liar. Like I was making it up. Almost like he couldn't be bothered. Never stay there again.
