From March 2020 until Dec 2021 I was away from my gas supply address shielding for Covid. While I was away, in October 2020, according to their most recent contact,Cadent, who were replacing gas street mains, using Balfour Beatty as a contractor, cut off my gas. The only notice I could find on my return was an undated "Sorry we missed you" card. My gas connection has still not been restored, mainly because I shall have to pay full costs of reconnection and the consequent costs of restoring my gas boiler and main gas fire, whic is the result of Cadent's action, and failure to make reasonable effort to contact me. I am not prepared to shell out a likely minimum of £5,500 imposed upon me by Cadent's lack of responsible customer care. They have been in contact with me since Dec 2021 and are fully aware of the circumstances. I am 85 - they have - allegedly -a policy NOT to disconnect pensioners between october and March, if at all, but then, allegedly, this was in the hands of their subcontractors. They and other gas suppliers are supposed, when they cut folk off for non payment, to send them a minimum of 6 written notices. They sent me nothing. They did not even inform my supplier, who might well have contacted me within the statutory month, and enabled me to avoid this. They claim this is because Data Protection Regulations forbid conveying my details to them. But even Ofgem say that once disconnection has taken place, the DataProtection requirement NO LONGER APPLIES. I am not prepared to accept any immediate response from any Cadent Trust Pilot response artist unwilling to acccept this statement of the facts of the case, and to explain why Cadent has not offered discussions on full and immediate compensation.

Rip off company with a monopoly on moving gas meters for £800

Who in the government allowed for this rip off company to have a monopoly on moving gas meters for £800 upfront? In the whole of our renovation project, across all the architects, engineers, electricians, plumbers and builders, this is the most we've had to pay for the least amount of work being done.I begrudgingly instructed Cadent to move our gas meter 1 metre in May for an upfront cost of £780. Immediately we had a problem with the engineer's appointment on 16th May where he cancelled sick and 18th May where he also cancelled sick on the day, forcing me to take 2 days of unpaid annual leave unnecessarily.When the engineer did come, he said Cadent were too busy to schedule the work our scaffolding went up for the rest of the renovation project, neither could they do the work during when the scaffolding was up, and so it would have to wait until after the scaffolding came down at the end of the project. However the engineer sought to assure us saying that as soon as we knew the scaffolding was coming down, to call Cadent, and it could normally be booked in in a matter of days.So last week when I knew the scaffolding was coming down, I phoned Cadent and they were unable to speak to me and had to 'get someone from planning to call back'. It took several days for them to call me back, and then I missed the call and they left me a message to say 19th August for the work, a month away. And so now, to add insult to injury, Cadent is the one supplier that is holding up my whole renovation project. Why can't they have online booking systems and use stuff like texts like other companies of their scale and stature? Why can you never be put through past the initial people answering the phone and taking messages? Why do I have to wait days for someone to call me back? How can an engineer say one thing and the policy is completely different? If a company is going to be monopolistically exorbitant in its charges I would at least expect it to be properly resourced and trained! Looking at these other reviews on Trustpilot it also fills me with dread that when they eventually get around to doing the work, will they even do a decent job of it?

Cadent waste of space

Cadent are so useless I've been waiting nearly 5 months for an insurance decision due to work they carried outside my property which damaged my bmw car and still not heared anything of them after numerous calls and emails been sent . Think its time to get the solicitors involved !!!

Cadent completed works at my address…

Cadent completed works at my address moved an old box less than a metre to a new area. They lifted my tiles as this had to be done to complete the works and came back to put new tiles in its place and the grout made my grey tiles go a horrible black colour so they came back again and replaced them and again they did the same thing even though I told them the grout was making the tiles go a horrible black colour. They also jet washed down my driveway and washed my step leaving my door filthy with dirt and my entire hallway and kitchen flooded so I spent hours cleaning! All they offered me was £150 although I spent hours cleaning and I had no choice but to accept the money as some had to be used to purchase a cleaning product for the tiles but the product did not work and my tiles are still black around the edges and a bit further on. Disgraceful service. Not happy at all.

Geoff/Jeff Jones 50008460 on job 1006455149has been incredibly helpful. He visited my mother’s house to fit a lockable isolation valve to the hob (this is a free service) and telephoned me several times to check that what he was thinking of doing would work for us. The job wasn’t easy due to a spaghetti junction of pipes and junctions from the meter (to various appliances). After examining and consultation we decided the best option was to isolate just the hob and leave the fire as it is (Mum thinks it’s broken anyway). The fire is safe should Mum try, and fail, to light it. Many thanks Geoff/Jeff for keeping me informed all the way along. 10/10

Cadent employee disconnected my gas…

Cadent employee disconnected my gas cooker saying I had a gas leak which was untrue......smashed the tiles at the back of my cooker and walked away. I made a complaint and another cadent employee came to fix the tiles (bear in mind it was all my own tiles and grout) I have received no apology from the cadent guy who caused all this first. He never even wrote a report on the visit he made to my home......NO paper work at all......so discussed with cadent as they have left me with no gas......this happened in July 2022.......awful and abrupt was the cadent employee that visited my home.I cannot live at my home because of this man whom made me feel very uncomfortable and he was very rude and intimidating toward myself
