Legal scam ?!Hidden commission included in vehicle financingI obtained a loan from Close Brothers Motor Finance through V12 Sports and Classics, which I also do not recommend, to purchase my vehicle.When I checked my financing agreement, I saw that V12 Sports and Classics had charged a £1,254.72 commission without my consent. It seems like everything was done behind the scenes.I tried several times to obtain the loan through my bank, Barclays. The funds would be released within 24 hours. However, the V12 salesperson persuaded me and said they could agree on the same monthly payment as my bank so I could finance it with Close Brothers.The persuasion was to pick up the new car the same day and sign the documents, avoiding any bureaucracy. I was naive and believed the salesperson, but I didn't know I would be paying a £1,254.72 commission to V12, built into my financing, which equates to almost seven installments of my monthly payment without my consent.On December 19, 2024, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) announced that it would extend the deadline for auto lenders to respond to complaints about any commission payments related to auto financing. This extension will last until December 4, 2025.This means they are allowed to continue charging these commissions without the customer's knowledge, in a hidden manner. This is ridiculous. Close Brothers supports such a shady business, deceiving customers and hiding information from them. I complained about the commission or DCA paid, and they informed me that they would only respond after December 4, 2025.Zero star!!! Legal scam
I was mis sold as I was told I could change my payments. I took the lowest payment to start until I was able to pay more, only to be told I could only lower it not increase it. I was charged interest on a one off £1k payment when my agreement said I wouldn't be. It took over 2 years for me to finally get into my account on the website due to it constantly asking security questions I hadn't provided an answer for. It was unpleasant speaking to staff on the phone as they sounded like they didn't want to be there. The only nice one didn't do what we agreed on the call. Please sort your website out as it was fantastic when it worked but even when I came to pay my settlement it took 3 days to get in due to it asking the wrong security questions again.
Close Brothers were recommended by a family member and for my first time experience with finance I’ve had no issues, it was the quickest way to get me on the road straight away after passing my test. I’ve never had any issues with payments, calls etc.
I purchased an older vehicle 3 years ago so finance providers were limited due to the age of the vehicle . Close Brothers provided the finance at a reasonable rate. They provided the contractual statements and kept me informed throughout the contract period. Plain sailing throughout, many thanks.
