A Fantastic Introduction to my Health & Fitness Journey

I couldn’t have asked for a better coach to kick-start my fitness and well-being journey again. For context, I gained a lot of weight during my first year of University and during the pandemic like a lot of people did, and previous to this I was always petite in my figure. This weight gain significantly impacted my mental health (and physical), so I decided to invest in my health and fitness again. I found Empower on Instagram and was instantly impressed with the fast responses and felt like they welcomed me with open arms. Through working with Emma & the Empower team, I successfully lost 8KG in a sustainable way and have built healthy habits in my food and fitness routines that I will continue to use. Empower testimony

Empower testimony I have steadily gained weight over the past few years since getting married and having 2 kids. I was very much in a bad habit in terms of dieting, where I would eat very very little during the week and then binge at the weekend. I struggled to loose any weight and if I did it went straight back on. I joined empower back in January and it has been the best thing I’ve done for myself. I have lost almost 8kg and I am in the best shape of my life. Without Emma’s guidance I would never have thought I can eat some of my favourite foods, such as Mac and cheese, chicken curry, chicken wraps and oreo shakes whilst loosing weight. It has been amazing to see my progress each week and the weekly check in’s have really helped me stay focused. I run a preschool and have two kids so to have the meal plans all set out for me and the detailed workout plans have been fantastic. Emma has been brilliant and I would highly recommend Empower! I can’t thank them enough for the amazing support and guidance.

The missing piece to my fitness journey

I have been on my own fitness journey for nearly 5 years. I tried everything I could to “tone up” and reach my physique goals with little to no success. I would research for countless hours as to how to get fit and reach my goals. I thought I was doing everything perfectly, but nothing was working for me. I got into weightlifting and loved it, but I still wasn’t seeing any physical changes. I started with Emma not even three months ago and have seen more results than I have in 5 years. When other programs made me feel defective and hopeless, Emma’s program made results feel effortless. The meal plans were delicious and led me to realize that I could relax about the foods I was eating and there is not a single food one I have to avoid to get the desired results. I never felt hungry or deprived for the first time in years and the pounds were falling off. It’s still shocking to me to look in the mirror and love what I see. It feels so good to not have to worry about getting in a swim suit when my family wants to go to the pool. Stop the guess and check work and join empower to learn exactly what your body truly needs to obtain the results you want. I would recommend empower to any friend or family member looking to better their physique.

Recovering my pre-pandemic body

I came to Emma in January 2022 after putting on almost 20 pounds during the pandemic. I have always been super active but lockdown had its toll on me. I loved the meals from day one, easy to make, delicious and I never felt that I had cravings as I was having all the carbs I love. The workout routines were great as well and having to do our weekly checking with pictures and measurements was great as it kept me accountable. The days I didn’t follow the diet I didn’t feel guilty as the mentality around the program helps you change your mindset around food and your lifestyle. The app is fantastic and the communication with Emma was great. Would totally recommend this program to anyone that doesn’t know where to start their fitness journey. I now have the tools to continue the journey on my own and reach fitness goal, what I can say is that I finally feel like my old self again!

Waist of money and time.

My background: Very experienced in gym and had both online coach for 5 years and personal trainers. I have gained the weight I wanted quickly and wanted to work on bodyrecomp and a small trim down on my body.Emma first put a program up with a split that made very little rest for the muscle to rest and get ready for next session. I complained and then she made a split program that I requested. The basic exercises and build up on the program was for new beginners to the gym. It was a lot of banded exercises, that Is good for a warm or when you put it in In a program the reps range should be different.I also questioned the reps range in the whole program where I usually go for 3-4 sets, and Emma's philosophy is that 2 can be more than good enough. Maybe she is right, but it does not suit me at all. I missed a lot of basic exercises as biceps, triceps and core. For the core she said 2 "no need to use a lot of time of that".A stable core is important for a lot of reasons, that I will not go into here. I also asked if she could focus on my glutes more when building lower body (thighs specially). Her quick answer was - I don't want you to have any muscle imbalance.She refers often to Bret Contreras and strange she did not even look into that he teaches how to do this.And this is how I feel Emma was, just setting up some generic program that she thinks would fit all. I feel she was way to busy to customize something for her client.I have been taking pictures every week since I started and actually my glutes ended up looking worse. I wanted to quit after the first month, then I did one more. Now I am so glad I went back to my old PT and getting the results I was looking for quickly. Maybe good for a person to get started, for me it was a waist of time and money.

Avoid like the plague

Reinforced my eating disorder, despite the fact I had just come out of an eating disorder unit and was very vulnerable. Restrictive and dangerous habits were encouraged, and it’s only now I’ve found a better coach that I realised how dangerous Emma’s coaching is (if it is even Emma coaching). 4 Months and No Results

I worked with Empower over a 4 month period and am not thrilled with the results or the process. I gained 5 lbs with little change in measurements. A little background about me before Empower: Lost ~50 lbs on my own and maintained with good body composition (24in waist 34in hips). Very familiar w tracking calories to fit in the foods I like and weightlifting heavy - over 2x my body weight. The reason I joined Empower was to learn more about balance as far as going out to eat / drink at a restaurant that doesnt have the calorie counts listed & just to have a coach there for reverse dieting as its my first time really going through that process. All in all I did not achieve those goals. A Few Points - Exercise plans aren’t exactly customized as promised. I have a home gym set up with several different machines and a rack yet with all 3 plans given to me I had to go through and request different exercises and remind Emma of what equipment I have. This would be fine if it was a one off however for every single day of each plan at least one thing needed to be replaced. On top of that I requested different glute activation exercises as I had been doing the same one for 4 months or so and the new one I was given was literally the same 4 exercises in a different order. Although Emma is prompt in her responses I just feel answers were rushed as in she didnt really read what I was saying and plans were just thrown together based on the above. And my goals in working with Empower were not fulfilled.Its still unclear to me how to maintain balance while going out. Often I would ask the same question in different ways because the answer I received didnt really answer the question at all. For example she once told me to skip breakfast track lunch and then have an untracked dinner and this is after I mentioned the 2 meals I would be having out were breakfast and dinner - and I asked how I track the other meals if the dinner is untracked but did not get a clear answer. And as far as my results...I understand with reverse dieting not everyone has the genetics to maintain their weight or see results during that process however I let Emma know that I had events starting in early June. When we finally switched to a cut I still wasnt seeing the results I wanted so I decided to “pause” coaching with her to take the weight loss into my own hands. Since I’ve been working on my own (setting my own macros) Ive seen far better results losing 1 lb per week vs none with Empower. Ive since lost an inch off my waist and gained 0.25in on my glutes doing a different trainers exercise plan - and it takes less time to complete. Unfortunately I was billed for another month because you are supposed to notify a month in advance to cancel. I just had to act quickly and asked her to pause our coaching because with the events I have coming up I want to be in my best shape. And was just not getting there with Empower. Dreading having to work with Empower again because I know in that month results will stall and like I said Im not gaining any results or knowledge from it. I will say the one habit I did build because of Empower was walking 10K steps. So thats one positive that came out of it. But aside from that Im at the point where I might just write off the $175 for the month thats left.Edited to Add: We were supposed to continue coaching July 11 after the pause mentioned above but I HAVE decided to just write off the money I already paid because she is unwilling to extend the time for the pause and I am unwilling to begin working with her again ahead of the events I have as I know I will not be seeing results in that month. What can I say, I like results and I'm getting stronger with a smaller waist and bigger booty spending less time in the gym with a different trainer's exercise plan and my own diet plan.

I would not be feeling this confident without Empower…

I would not be feeling this confident if it weren’t for the help of Emma and her team. bought all kinds of fun new clothes for my upcoming trip and really just haven’t felt this confident in my body in months. Last november, i found out that i was hypothyroid after randomly gaining ~25 lbs in about 3 months (nothing about my diet or exercise routine had changed, it’s just that my thyroid stopped working 🤪) i came to Emma so broken and disheartened, thinking i would never get my old body back. and now here i am maybe 1 kg away from my goal weight. i’m focusing on getting strong and crushing pbs in the gym, rather than doing 2+ hours of cardio everyday

Emma is the best thing that’s ever happened to me!

little testimonial:Before working with Emma, I honestly would photoshop every photo. At a certain point, I would only allow friends/family to take group photos and photos of me on my phone so that I could make sure they were edited to my liking before anyone got their hands on them to post! I was so uncomfortable in my body, and went through periods of starving and then binging. I had no idea what calories really were, and I never exercised because I didn’t know what to do or how to move my body properly. I can confidently say that I have never felt better in my body. I feel happier, healthier, and I enjoy cooking, eating, and exercise so much. The biggest takeaway from working with Emma has been for me is learning that nothing is off limits! I can eat what I want to eat in moderation and still make memories. I can challenge my body to move in new ways and lift weight I never thought was possible! Goodbye are the days of fearing walking into a gym without wearing baggy clothes. Goodbye are the days of photoshopping the photos I post online. Goodbye food fears!! Emma is the sweetest and most genuine…

Emma is the sweetest and most genuine coach I could have ever asked for! She is always there when you need her and she truly cares about your overall HEALTH, not just your physique goals. She will be a friend for you if you need one and is always so supportive and uplifting. I found myself learning something new nearly everytime I talked with her and I’m leaving this experience so thankful and with a whole new mindset towards nutrition. I finally have confidence in my body and confidence that I now have the knowledge I need to continue moving forward on my own, and it’s all thanks to Emma and the Empower Team! She will always work with you and make adjustments or changes as you need and you can see just how passionate she is through everything that she does! I initially chose Emma as my coach because I saw so much experience and knowledge in her, and she did not disappoint! This is an experience I will forever be grateful for, and if I ever need to work with a coach again, Emma will definitely be my first choice!
