Don’t bother with this company. Made a booking online for a van rental two/three weeks prior to needing the van, which was for moving house. I turned up on the day of the booking, to be told that there were no vans available. I was told by their staff that their system overbooks, and that there were 10bookings that day with only 3 vehicles available!
Absolutely dreadful company. Recently rented a vehicle to my daughter in an unroadworthy condition, despite pointing out defects upon returning the vehicle, this was brushed aside and the vehicle went back out on rental to another unsuspecting renter.Thought we’d rented from a professional organisation, not ‘rent-a-wreck!
Terrible in every way. Took over £200 from us, we were never able to collect a car and Europcar have had no interest in speaking with me to resolve the issue. They ignore my emails and ‘transfer me to another colleague’ on the phone which always results in me being cut off. So I’ve had no refund and have been ignored for a good couple of months. Avoid this terrible company!!!!!!!!!
Worst rental company going !! Don't waste your time or money !! Received the vehicle with a key that was held together by sellotape and only worked when it wanted too. Valeted the car and filled the tank when returning only to be charged £40 for petrol as apparently it was empty yet I have photographic proof and it turns out it's the people who work there that have used the car when picking it up and have blamed me and said I hadn't filled it !! Will be going to my solicitor as he believes I have a very good case to sue the company for compensation .
Terr services. I was first told on a Thursday that the courtesy car was in the garage. I went to pick this up and it wasn't there. I rang Europecar and they told me it was delivered. I rang back a day or 2 later and I was told that yous don't know where the car is. After an investigation I was told that the car was delivered to the wrong garage. I replaced the fuel when I returned the car with was half full as the same amount of full when I received it and Europe car took £58 pounds out of my account for fuel. Without even contacting me. I retuned the car to my detailer ship to be collected as we agreed. I returned the car on the 21st may 2024 and it wasnt collected until the 3rd June 2024. The car sat at the dealership for over a week.Absolutely shocking service. Stay away from Europcar
Fraud!!!!Our situation was very similar to other reviews. We booked the vehicle through ADAC car rental and paid in advance. When picking up the vehicle, Europcar staff offered us a larger vehicle with a discount and only 100 GBP extra on the amount paid.It was only when we returned home that we noticed on our credit card statement that it was an upgrade contract and we had to pay extra for our Europcar rental car. So it turned out to be more than twice as expensive as planned. A very cool trick that you can use to fool many customers. KEEP YOUR DISTANCE!!!!!For every bad review, always the same answer with no result, even questionableAntwort von Europcar UKVor 2 TagenHello Tomasz,We appreciate your feedback and we are sorry to learn you were dissatisfied with our service.Give us the chance to solve the issue by providing more details using this link...........................................................................where our customer service team will be in touch. We hope to see you again. The Europcar Team
I recently used Europcar Gatwick Terminal South to pick up a car ordered from Australia on line. The desk customer rep seemed nice and friendly and we left with our car happy with the efficiency of it all. To my horror about Week plus after we had returned the car I found a debit to my account for an extra £239.27 for premium insurance protection and road side assist. Now yes I did sign the contract without checking the agreement because I trusted the desk representative when he said there were no extra payments to be made and I believed I had already paid in full on line. I suspect this is fraudulent practice and a deliberate up selling technique to gain commissions. BEWARE. I have had no help from Europcar to resolve this error.P.S their reply here to help is dishonest. Their official answer already is you signed the contract. No acknowledgment of fraudulent dishonest behavior by one of their franchisee.
Huge issues with my rental from this company. Poor communication from start to finish. After I handed the car back at an attended check in, I was right there for about 20 minutes because I had to wait for a lift and everything seemed fine. 2 weeks later they sent a bogus damage charge out of the blue. Cue a 3 month long back and forth with them where I was consistently ignored, both the content of my emails and europcar would deliberately wait 2 weeks at a time to respond, presumably in the hopes I’d just give up and pay. They reached a final decision while still having not responded to me pointing out breaches in their terms and conditions so I took it to the ombudsman who reached a decision in my favour in only 2 days - in my opinion, proving that they are *able* to respond and had been choosing not to respond to me. I also had an issue that other people have had where someone verbally confirmed something but this information then just vanished into the ether when I tried to bring them up on it - fortunately this was a phone call so was recorded by the company. I will personally not use this company again and would suggest to anyone who does that you take every possible measure to protect yourself and just assume that the company will take advantage anywhere you leave them a chance to. I’d like to be able to add something positive but honestly even from the start it wasn’t a positive experience. There were more small incidents that didn’t warrant a complaint from me, such as a (male) check in attendant who didn’t understand why I (female) wouldn’t give out my personal details on the phone when I was in public on a train; the fact that I’d booked for a Vauxhall corsa type car and they gave me an MG SUV type vehicle when I’ve never driven anything that big before and the same man told me I’d probably find it easier because it’s automatic… in my opinion, just not a customer led experience or company attitude unfortunately
we booked online thinking we were getting an internal combustion engined vehicle , we paid for it , nowhere on the booking site did it mention it was an electric vehicle , when arrived we discovered it was an electric car , we wanted to drive quite a few miles and didn't want to be tied down looking for charging stations, we asked to change and were told that a normal car is an upgrade, and because we were held to ransom WE WERE FORCED TO PAY AN EXTRA $1200 FOR THE UPGRADE TO A NORMAL VEHICLE.... it is daylight robbery and fraud , i would never recommend this shoddy company to anyone!!!!!
