I’m very disappointed with this group

I’m very disappointed with this group I got a lawyers letter through this morning which I have been asked to pay for damage to the car I hired from the 29/05/2025 to the 02/06/2025.i never got anything back from them regarding this and as far I knew everything was ok. I since tried to call the lawyers and was on the phone for 1.5 hours to get someone. I gave up on that and called the head office of Europcar to discuss the matter. The woman name was lynne who insisted that they had sent a email for recovery of damage. I then checked my junk mail and found 2 emails from Europcar. One was the invoice from them on the 04/06/2025 saying the car was ok and the deposit would be returned Which it was by Europcar. Then on the the 23/06/2025 I have another email regarding the damage to the car ( which was a flat tyre and I picture of the tyre with the nail in it.3 weeks after the so called nail was in the tyre they contact me to inform me that I must of done it and they were going to charge me for the time it was off the road a new tyre and admin fees of 251.64. Something I did not know about til now. I know I checked the car out and it did not have a puncture as I checked all aspects at of it with a friend who assisted me in the process. At no point was the car damaged or anything wrong with it. How can this company say the car was ok and issue an invoice on the 4th June 2025 and then 3 weeks later decide that the car had a puncture and decide to send me a bill. They must of done this when driving the car round the car park or someone else who hired it and the only person they could blame was the last person who drove it. This is wrong on all levels and I will contest it as it looks like they are blaming anyone they can. Absolute disgrace from Europcar and as a company I used to use regularly I won’t be using again and I will tell anyone who is using this company do not use them as they are not true to there words of being a good company who cares about the drivers.

Avoid!!!!

Cannot stress enough, avoid, avoid, avoid. We used Europcar for a courtesy car recently and have had the worst experience - the customer service line is abysmal, when they can't answer your query they put the phone down or pass you back to the main menu. Our local branch won't answer the phone at all (to us or our insurance company) and we're having to chase repeatedly to get their car picked up from us. After being told there's no complaints department, we're close to giving up. There are plenty of other car rental companies, please avoid this one.

Check the fuel tank is full!!

Rented a van, with only 650 miles on the clock, I drove it 30 miles and it averaged 38mpg. When I refilled the tank with diesel I was expecting to only put a gallon of fuel in. But, to my surprise I had to put 3 gallons in to replace (top up) what I had used as I was informed that the van had a full tank of fuel when I picked it up. So, obviously the fuel tank wasn’t full when I picked the van up but I was told the tank was full and it should be returned with a full tank. I spoke with the branch manager at Chelmsford where I rented the van from and requested a refund for the 2 additional gallons of fuel that I had put in their van.The million dollar question is… are they carrying out sharp practice to fleece their customers or is it some skullduggery from an employee, either way it’s not right.Be warned make a note of the mileage and the average mpg used whilst in your rental.I have twice been on their website to complain, filled in all the questions, written a lengthy complaint and when I pushed the upload button it defaults to “there is an issue with our webpage” handy so I am left writing this review to vent my frustration…I have tried to contact customer services again as requested in their reply below and it still says there is a technical issue and it sends you back to the start again. It’s now 4 times that I have tried this method….Like the company it isn’t working properly 😡

Hired a car large famiky to be…

Hired a car large famiky to be delivered Paid, pre check driving licence. All done easy!?Called from Europcar to say can't deliver and only have a Fiat 500.Agent apologised and canceled the booking advising no payment would be taken. 3 days later payment taken and customer service agent contacted was awful. Did not care and said will have refund in 10 working days. Refused to take complaint or escalate call. Never again

I recently enjoyed working with Leslie, the store manager, and Ryan, a customer service representative, at the Europe Car Nottingham branch. I cannot praise them enough! They went above and beyond to assist me in organising a last-minute hire of six vans under our corporate account.From the moment I arrived, Leslie was incredibly welcoming and professional, ensuring that all my needs were met efficiently. Ryan also played a crucial role in the process; his attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction made the entire experience seamless. They both worked together flawlessly, demonstrating excellent teamwork and communication.Despite the short notice, they managed to arrange everything quickly, which helped us immensely. Their friendly demeanour and willingness to help made a stressful situation much more manageable. I highly recommend the Nottingham branch to anyone needing a vehicle hire. Leslie and Ryan are actual assets to the team! Thank you both for your outstanding service!

Booked van hire at MK to move some…

Booked van hire at MK to move some kitchen units. Tiffany at front counter made the whole experience very pleasant. Had a hiccup to start with as needed national insurance number to have dvla check done but this was soon sorted as Tiffany talked us through the process. ( This needs to be in the documentation to bring with drivers license) which was not mentioned on the website ( apparently it IS in the small print) needs to be bigger. Van was ready , nice and clean Hire charge comparable to other companies. Would definitely use again. Big shout out to Tiffany for her lovely friendly personality 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Ps would have been 5 star if not for the National insurance number issue

Appalling company

Appalling company, avoid at all costs. I received an email yesterday saying that my hire car would be dropped off at 6pm, nothing arrived. Nobody picks up when you try to call the Chelmsford office and nobody replies to emails.I have just wasted most of the day on the phone being told lots of different things, still no car and there is nobody around at the Chelmsford office to answer calls, you just get put through to a call centre, where nobody is able to tell you what is happening. I have lost a days work and still unable to find out if and when my car is being dropped off….

Absolute thievery

Absolute thievery. I paid for the vehicle on line on the proviso that I would pay a holding fee of £500 on collection to be released on return of the vehicle. The woman at the desk would not let us pay the holding fee via credit card, claiming that it wasn't working (It was working perfectly and is still working perfectly now) She then would not allow us to pay via phone using the credit card on the banking app. She claimed it was a problem with our card/bank It wasn't. She refused to let us try paying on a different terminal and put us in the position where we were forced to pay a non-refundable fee of £208 on debit card or cancel the hire losing the deposit in the process. We had two young children with us and a long journey to undertake so we had to pay. Unless this is resolved I will not ever use Europcar again and will encourage anyone and everyone that will listen that Europcar encourages immoral methods of obtaining payment. A total disgrace
