Well where do I start.Paid £1,900 for a Premium Landrover Sport, car was not there, eventually arrived with an Inch of mud and muck on the car, in the car and the windows were so dirty on the inside I could not see out them.Went back to the customer desk to complain, the on duty sap, told me to hand back the keys and they would refund my money, obviously this left us stranded 100 miles from our destination and he cared less.Complained to hertz, this morning they turned up with an even worse car, more dirty and it smelled beyond belief.I guess the words Premier and gold standard Customer has a very different meaning to what we would expect. So now you know Hertz Ireland does not give a Sod about Customers, zero Customer support and the limits of the Intellectual capacity of the Managers in Hertz Ireland can not digest they have to clean cars inside and out before handing to the Customers. The Bad news is this is the 3rd Time they did this. Now you know to not expect much from Hertz other then lies and a Bill.
We hired a car through Ryanair. We arrived at the desk at Cork Airport about 7.30am on 31st March, The agent asked us if we wanted insurance. I declined and told him we had allready bought insurance through Ryanair. I even showed him the email confirming the insurance. He explained that if there was an accident we would be billed and we would have to claim off our policy which we understood. Now my partner has a £100 charge on his credit card which he is being told is for the insurance we didnt take out !!!@!! My partner signed for the rental agreement but the clerk appears to have left the insurance on it on and Is saying you signed for it. I would like to add that we were given no policy documentation so how can this be justified?TOTALLY DISHONEST AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE, we are taking this up with the bank and taking further advice. As advised by Hertz we did contact customer services and got no where......its with the bank now
Just returned a Van i rented for 4 hours to pick up and drop off furniture. Now I done the walk around inspection and found nothing, but when I returned the van the man found something “underneath the number” which is NOT visible during a walk around inspection and then said I damaged it. Folks this seems totally unreasonable and one I’ll contest and go to small claims courts to prove my innocence. I look forward from hearing from hertz to rectify the matter before it goes to court
Hertz.ie and Thrifty.ie - same company. The service and cars are soooooo old and dated and not up to standards of a car rental company. My car I hired smelt so bad of smoke when I picked it up from the airport, and was not cleaned at all inside or out. The gear stick had issues and very difficult to use. When I told the guy at the desk and at drop off they just shrugged and said "oh well" and you get overcharged on absolutely everything! NEVER WILL I EVER USE Thrifty.ie or Hertz.ie AGAIN.
I travel frequently and know well the pain and stress a car rental company can cause. I've been using Hertz exclusively in N. Ireland over the last 10 years and have never had a problem. Vaughan and the team at Hertz N.I, have been fantastic and I would not consider using another car rental company. They went above and beyond sorting out rental problems when I got covid in 2022.
Keep away from this company hired car for 2 days drop it back everything was good came back too irland too realise they tuck €1875 out of my card still no reply from anyone had too get my Solicitor and still no money back beware everyone
Believe the Trustpilot rating and the Google reviews re the insurance scam, we all can't be wrong, despite their responses, protestations and blaming third party insurance providers. The facts are simple, 1) their insurance is circa 10 times that of any third party/independent insurers and 2) the fact that they require €5,000 charge on your credit card if you have 3rd party insurance, forces people into taking theirs, since very few people will have that amount on their credit card. Their insurance is around €30 per day (Inc. VAT), so if you rent a car for two weeks, expect a charge of over €415 on your bill!Go elsewhere, plenty of car rental places that don't fleece you. Update: Look at all the responses for all the negative reviews, they don't address the issues, just try to blame someone else. Why is your insurance circa X 10 times that of third party vendors offering EXACTLY the same cover and secondly, why the €5k charge, which once again is multiples of that charged by other car rental companies. Avoid!
Car was really good, but be VERY VERY careful with the insurance. I called Hertz in advance to enquire whether or not I would still have to pay a 2000 euro deposit if I had a maximum insurance. They assured me that as long as I could prove I had an insurance, I would not have to pay that deposit. That was important for me, as my credit card limit is 800 euros. I booked the car on an external website and bought the supercover insurance there, however, when picking up the car Hertz suddenly did not accept that insurance because it was not directly bought through them. Had to pay a 100 euros for an EXTRA insurance otherwise I could not take the car. Very misleading and unfair as I had specifically called them about this. Contacted costumer service but as one would expect they did not apologise.
