SuperCover "NO EXCESS, NO WORRIES"

SuperCover advertised as "NO EXCESS, NO WORRIES". Paid a significant sum for it. Turned up to pick up car. Was told SuperCover does not mean no excess for this vehicle. Was explained to me that there was a £500 excess. Turns out this was £500 per incident. Have since emailed customer service regarding this. Have not received a reply in 8 days. Was booked on the Hertz.ie website. Nice way to pass the buck and avoid dealing with the issue though!

Literally a Sh1te experience!!!!

Hertz refused to take my card for the deposit so I was forced to take out the additional insurance at €30 a day. When I went to inspect the car I found excrement in the foot well of the car! I eventually found someone to complain to, no response, no apology just a wipe of a cloth and told that's good enough for you. Front desk was the typically unhelpful ignornant employee that you would associate with such a poorly ran service. Rang customer service but no one ever answers, emailed customer support but still waiting on a reply. Absolutely disgraceful service 100% avoid!!!

Beware. HERTZ will charge you even if not your fault.

Beware, they do not maintain or service their vehicles. I rented a manual transmission where the clutch failed within 2 hours of getting the car and they are charging me for a new clutch which is absurd because they brought me a second manual replacement car and I drove it over 1000KM with NO issues. They are changing me for the abuse and misuse of someone else, the prior rental. The tires on the first car were balled and the info system was in Italian. they never checked the car before renting it to me. I have written them asking them to explain the logic of charging me as I would have certainly destroyed the second vehicle if I did not know how to drive! This has been a horrible experience. Stay away from Hertz at all costs.

I wish I could give zero stars

I wish I could give zero stars. I booked through Dollar and when I got to Dunkin was sent to Hertz. I was talked into a smaller car that broke down almost instantly (27 highway km or less). It took over 6 hours to get a replacement which I then drove 3,000 km over the next 13 days without issue. I flew home to the US and two weeks later checked my credit card for a huge charge from Hertz - they provided proof the clutch went out on the first car and I’m responsible for the full repair. It’s just not possible to burn out a perfectly good clutch that quickly - I was rented a damaged car. Every email I send is just replied back to with their mechanic’s report of the burnt clutch.Edited to add: Thank you for the reply that still does not explain how I burned out a clutch in 27highway km and then was somehow able to drive 3,000 km without issue on the replacement car.

STAFF ARE COMMISSION CONMEN AND…

STAFF ARE COMMISSION CONMEN AND HUSTLERS. AVOID! AVOID!I've been hiring cars from Dublin airport for the last 30 years. The early noughties were the wild west years where every company would try to con you for insurance or damages. In recent years it seemed this was over however the Hertz/ Thrifty branch have a strong taste for nostalgia. The front desk staff here are hustlers and conmen, plain and simple. They are on commission for the insurance Hertz/ Thrifty sells on cars and will do everything to not accept your credit card so they can get their commission. Below I outline how they tried to con me and what you can do if you find yourself in a similar situation.Special mention goes to "Stefan", in case that's not his real name he's the short, squat little man with the very loud dublin accent and a demeanour that threatens to break into outright aggression. If he's there you'll definitely hear him before you see him. Also look out for "Lelisha" who seems to be in on the con as well. If you look through the other reviews you will see numerous other customers have had the same problem at this branch, all of a sudden credit cards which were used to insure the car (and are likely used all of the time) somehow don't work at the office. Well lo and behold the same thing happened to me. But that's OK! Because instead you can purchase Hertz's extortionate car insurance that is upwards of £30 a day there and then (despite insurance already being covered on your credit card that they are pretending doesn't function). This can easily lead to your total car hire fee doubling if not tripling! So how does this work?We had already paid for our car hire and went to the hub to collect the keys. When it came to putting our credit card into the credit card reader to confirm the insurance it kept getting declined, even after having our credit card provider stay on the line and confirming that there were no problems at all with the card. Our provider said that the Hertz office were trying to put it through on chip and signature and they should be able to do so on chip and pin or just signature, "Stefan" claimed this was impossible. He insisted it could only be put through on chip and signature which was being declined. In reality he was doing this on purpose to push you towards paying for Hertz's own insurance. After spending two hours trying to outline how the card was working and the provider being on the phone to verify this, we finally relented and said we would take the insurance so we could start our holiday.However...... when it came to be time to pay for Hertz's insurance we also had to use our credit card as it was the only card we had. CAN YOU BELEIVE IT, our credit card all of a sudden wasn't declined by their card reader and they asked us to put a pin in. Upon pointing this out they panicked and got their manager and in the space of a minute, probably in order to save face, the manager was able to put the credit card through on signature. If this happens to you:1.) Refuse to deal with "Stefan", he knows all the tricks so demand to be served by someone else and ask for the manager.2.) Call your credit card company to confirm that your card is working just fine3.) If you relent and take their insurance, Either use the same or another credit card on the chip and pin and when it comes time to enter your pin, point this out to them that your credit card is suddenly working.4.) If you do have to accept their insurance, you should be able to make a claim for it with your credit card company as the fault is clearly with their card readers. Check with your provider for what evidence is needed.Edit: You give this same reply to everyone. I've provided the staff first names and the branch, what more do you need?

Hertz-Dublin City Center- Samantha went…

Hertz-Dublin City Center- Samantha went above and beyond for us. She was so warm and friendly and she helped us set up our GPS phone link after looking into our gps questions. She took extra time to brief us and answer questions about our hybrid vehicle. She remembered us 9 days later when we returned our car. She chatted with us about our trip and she called a taxi for us. She obviously loves her job and she loves helping others.

I went into Hertz in Blarney Business…

I went into Hertz in Blarney Business Park over two months ago and put a deposit on a Kia Picanto. I was told it was 100% ready to drive out of the show room. I got my own mechanic to look over the car and he found a problem with the gear box. The sales man told me he would fix the problem within a week and here we are two months later waiting…..on the car. The car would have been my sons first car so you can imagine the disappointment when each day the car is still not ready. Terrible customer service from Hertz I would not recommend any one to buy a car from them.

Won’t be renting from Hertz anytime soon

On June 30, 2023 Waited 45min for bus from Terminal to Hertz, then 45min at the rental counter only to find that the van we reserved wasn’t available. Major issues with their system. Bright spot: very friendly staff through the sh$&show. Ended up with manual transmission instead of automatic as reserved. Won’t be renting from Hertz anytime soon, sorry.

Emergency assistance didn't show up

We picked up our hire car at Cork Airport on Saturday 10th June in the evening. We had booked a 5 door car but received a 3 door one (this wasn't Hertz's fault, we'd booked through Thrifty, which I believe is connected. The emergency assistance, however, is Hertz's service). We then drove about an hour to our destination in West Cork. Before we got there, the tyre essentially fell off the car and we couldn't go any further. This was at about 22:40 in the evening. I called the emergency helpline, and the guy on the other end said he'd contact someone, but then said 'oh but I do finish in 3 minutes' and proceeded to go home. We were 2 women, 1 with mobility issues, stranded on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. I called repeatedly and we waited over an hour. No one showed up until the next morning, after I'd called again. We paid for 3 days for the car, but we unable to use it to get to our destination on Saturday and for the whole of Sunday morning. We were then charged €150 for the callout plus approximately €150 for the tyre. I've never rented a car in Ireland before and this was the worst experience with a rental I've ever had.

Be Warned, terrible service.

I rented a car online in May 2023 for a USA trip in early June 2023. When booking I was requested to bring a Drivers Licence and Passport. Which I did, however on arrival I was informed i needed an international licence. Even though my full drivers licence was in English. I called Hertz customer care who told me this was incorrect and I did not require a international licence. I went back to desk but they were adamant I required an international licence and showed me an internal email that all staff received stating International Drivers Licence was required.. I reviewed my booking and there is NO mention of international drivers licence requirement. I had to be refunded, however 2 months later I have not been refunded, I'm down over €700 and no end in site. I ended up renting off Enterprise (Rosen Centre), all I required was a drivers licence and passport and credit card. They were extremely helpful and I got free upgrade.I'm afraid I received no refund to card used to pay for car. If you could email me directly or call me as you have my details please. I've spoken to customers service on number of occasions. It's not refunded. I used a Revolut card, and was told that this was an issue and would delay refund. The original payment made on 28th of May has never been refunded.I have since been refunded thank you hertz. Experience still very very negative on a whole.
