NEVER RENT A CAR FROM HERTZ IN IRELAND!! I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR OVER 40 YEARS BOTH AUTOMATIC AND MANUAL VEHICLES. I RENTED A CAR FROM HERTZ IN IRELAND THAT ENDED UP HAVING CAR ISSUES 4 DAYS INTO OUR 10 DAY RENTAL. THEY CHARGED ME FOR A TOW BACK TO THE AIRPORT, THEY CHARGED ME 60 EURO A DAY UPGRADE FEE BECAUSE THE ONLY CAR THEY HAD LEFT WAS AN AUTOMATIC, THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE CLUTCH THAT HAD MALFUNCTIONED. THEY ENDED UP CHARGING ME AN ADDITIONAL 1,906.39 EUROS ON TOP OF MY ORIGINAL 1221.28 EURO RENTAL. TOTAL SCAM!!! I ASK QUESTIONS IN EMAILS THAT ARE NEVER ANSWERED. I CALL AND LEAVE MESSAGES WITH NO RETURN PHONE CALLS...COMPLETELY FRUSTRATED!!!
Upon returning car to Dublin Airport there was a TINY scratch on the front bumper spotted by the returning agent. The car was only driven to South Dublin and parked for weekend. As result I declined the excess insurance cover. Scratch likely due to small stone from road surface. Been informed the repair will be over €700! A ridiculous sum. I've been a Hertz customer for over 30 years and a Gold Member during that time, but no more if this is how they treat their customers.
1Upon returning rental at Hertz Dublin airport car return. Was told there is a SMALL SCRATCH on front lower bumper on driver's side. Told the overzealous employee that I have no idea where it came from. No sense talking to them as you will get nowhere. I took pictures before he did and nothing shows on the photo of front bumper. The estimate of the SMALL SCRATCH is over €900+.You have to bend down to see what he is talking about, possibly came from the NUMEROUS road works as we traveled from Dublin around coastal westbound to Belfast and back to Dublin over 14 days./
Was asked to pay £1200.00 deposit or £29 plus tax (VAT basically) to avoid this payment. Having been stung by other car hire companies in the past for ‘damage’ I agreed to pay this to avoid them keeping my deposit.I signed the contract on IPad and initials on one section which to my unknown was for the insurance at £39 plus VAT and also a tyre and windscreen protection at £20 plus VAT. Bear in mind I had only paid £60.58 for the car why would I pay £70.80 for 1 days insurance on a vehicle that cost me less to rent for the day.Avoid Hertz or Firefly as they are known at Belfast Airport, they are complete scammers and feed you lies when collecting your car to gain extra costs for insurances. They take a preauthorise so you have no idea how much they are charging you otherwise we would have contested the costs at the time.Spent the little bit more and go with europacar or others avoid
Charging you for an extra day, I cannot proof anything because at checkout there was a fault in their system so they could not provide me with proof of return. They simply do not respond to e-mails.Terrible, never again.
We rented a car and unfortunately, while driving, the tire got damaged. This happened at 10 pm and it is currently 1:30 am. We were planning to repair it ourselves in the morning since our insurance covers tire and wheel damages, but Hertz rental car company does not accept it.
Hertz at Dublin Airport is victimizing its customers, taking advantage of time limiting circumstance to rip people off for trivial scratches. $1400 for a scratch? Seriously! Did you take the car out of service because of the damage? Did you repair the damage? Did you lower your rates for renting a damaged vehicle? Did you lose revenue because of the damage? In my opinion you are pathetic. According to your reasoning I could take a car key and in about five minutes I could do enough damage to exceed the value of the vehicle. If you want good reviews, treat people honestly. Since my experience with Hertz I have rented from other car rental companies and have discussed their policies and they say that normal wear and tear is just that part of doing business. Stop believing your own rhetoric and treat people fairly. But, no worries, I have faith in the free market and the market will decide.
Mistakes can happen but his one got fixed very quickly.Returning the car to Dublin airport, I was informed that I had covered 2100 km and incurred a charge for excess mileage. This was more than double what I had actually driven.I had no proof that the initial mileage was incorrect and realized that there was no point in taking a long discussion with the otherwise polite and friendly Hertz representative checking returns. So, I sent an email to customer services but had little hope of achieving anything. It was a pleasant surprise to receive a prompt reply. A review of my rental had found that mileage had been incorrectly recorded and that I would receive a refund.Note to self: take a photo of the odometer next time!
