I used turbo free filer for the first time. I have to say it was very simple. Customer service is no help... true enough. And also they don't update the status of your return like the wheres my refund link. Other then that it was ok. Will use them again. My refund is on the way. The irs accepted my return on the 14th. I filed on the 13th and funds will be available on March 3rd.
I've used this software for my personal and business for 10 years. The first time I ever call them because I'm audited and I get 4 different people and the last one puts me on hold for 25 minutes and then disconnects me. Total call time was over an hour. I'll never use another Intuit product again!
The software does a good job at filing your taxes. Don't believe their advertisements that it's free however. Unless all you need to do is file a simple 1040EZ, they charge for every little additional form you need to file. And once they're done charging for dubious upgrades, they want to charge you another $40 for the privilege of allowing them to deduct your fees from your federal return. I've been using TurboTax for years, and I'll be looking for another less expensive option next year from a company that hasn't lobbied the Federal Government to not offer a free, easy to use option for American Taxpayers.
I have filed with turbotax for nine years. This year the menu is more awkward. You cannot compare last year's data alongside this year for easy identification of mistakes or changes for all subcategories. Also, you are not able to take a look at an actual review of your filing until after you have paid.
We purchased a Turbotax and it was nothing but one problem after another. My husband worked for days on a return that should have been simple and basic. An error message kept coming up and no way could he fix it. It said on the program you could pay $54.99 for help. There is also an 800# to call. He did and spent 2 1/2 hours with a tech and then got cut off. They never returned the call. No help there. This year's program is not as easy to use anymore as previous years. It's gotten really messed up. Who wants to spent that much time and frustration on a simple return????I suggested my husband go buy a U-file program.
Customer support is no help. I called as I could not reset my password as my cell# was changed. I tried the longer way of getting in and it said it did not recognize me as primary name on file??? Hello I have been doing my taxes online for 3 years now. Anyhow I called and spoke with agent who said she put in request to update my number to get the code. My number has not been updated. The worse is she said oh please rate this call once you get your ticket number. I did and then a few hours later I got an email saying my ticket issue was resolved which it is not. I tried calling a few days ago and this annoying robot voice asks you questions when you want to talk to someone live. Once I got to a live person it rang, silence and then line went dead.
I just got Turbotax Business software for Business. Just getting the program to work on my 3 month old computer was an ordeal of more than 1.5 hours and eventually involved spending 35 minutes on hold and speaking to customer service. The program worked fine once installed until I tried to download the state program which I could not do and now I'm waiting on hold again to see if they can get their software to work. Seriously, it's not worth the aggravation.
THIS YEAR'S VERSION HAS A GLITCH. Up until this year, I really enjoyed TurboTax, and found it easy to use. This year my federal and state tax returns were rejected for an "AGI" or "PIN" issue. It is not the AGI. I checked. It must be a glitch or something. I don't know for sure because there is no way to talk to a human. Their Bot is infuriating. I am in Ethiopia for work, apparently they can't call me here. I can't call them. I can't contact a person through the chat, just the useless Bot. I can't find any sort of email to get assistance. Save yourself a headache. Just pay H&R block. That's what I'm going to do next year.
I've used Turbo tax for several years and never had an issue. This year my state return was rejected and I got an email from turbo tax saying it was because they needed to update their software. Finally, 2 weeks after filing they got the right software and I could re-file. RIDICULOUS that an online software isn't updated automatically. And my return didn't change so whatever it was for didn't impact me. I won't be using again.
