Microsoft Surface Pro Review: A Costly MistakeI’ve owned two Surface Pro devices over the past five years, and my experience has been nothing short of frustrating. Initially, I thought my first device underperformed because I didn’t invest in the top-tier model. So, two years later, I upgraded to the highest-spec Surface Pro available at the time, expecting a premium experience. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.Just after the warranty expired, the device started having serious issues. To make matters worse, I had purchased Microsoft’s official keyboard for an eye-watering $550, only for it to fail three years later—ironically after a system update. Troubleshooting with Microsoft was a nightmare: resetting the device was overly complicated, documentation was unclear, and software compatibility was a mess. Backing up data felt impossible. Now, without a working keyboard, I’m faced with spending another $600–$700 for a replacement. Considering these accessories break down every two to three years, the cost is outrageous. The Surface Pro line promises premium performance, but in reality, it delivers headaches, wasted time, and unnecessary expenses.Bottom line: If you value reliability and long-term value, steer clear of the Surface Pro. Its a overpriced product with poor durability
Extremely poor customer service. Truly so bad, I don't remember experiencing such bad service anywhere before. I got a business subscription and nothing works. For two months I just spend evenings on the phone with Microsoft, because there are always issues. I got so tired of it, asked them to send guidance through email or remote control my screen. The instructions they send are just wrong, and they can't fix problems. It is just a sea of calls so they can close the ticket but nothing gets resolved.
i have purchased 2 high end laptops and 1 custom built pc in 2 months that were all over $3000.00 each. I have returned them all. The hardware was bad and the software was worse. The drivers fail. bios's cant find required hardware, cmos is shot. bios batteries are dead. There are more versions of windows now than there are linux. My windows 98SE system is more stable than any OS made since Vista. Microsoft is trash.
I used to love Excel and Word. I mastered hybrid selection workflows—scattered copy, non-contiguous text, precision formatting. Now those methods are broken. Microsoft removed core functionality, forced Snipping Tool as a workaround, and buried real support behind a cluttered, confusing website. They presume to know what’s best for users while stripping away control. I waste time trying to fix what they broke—and I’m paying for it. This isn’t innovation. It’s sabotage.I’ve filed a formal complaint and will be posting this publicly on multiple platforms: ComplaintsBoard, ConsumerAffairs, BBB, Reddit, and Twitter. Microsoft deserves every ounce of backlash coming their way.
