Patreon supports scam artists. I paid 500$ to get access to a tutorial with project files as described in the artists tier description. Turns out the tier does not have either of the things listed. Reported to Patreon, patreon simply replied saying they only facilitate payments, therefore they can't do anything about it. They said I should contact the artist. The artist does not reply to messages. Patreon refused to help with the matter. Absolute trash.
Patreon charges unconscionably high fees, on top of which they also "double dip" in charging the creators receiving the fees, but also to the recipient if you pay out money to other creators. There is no customer service because they only care about anything involving your account if you're doing huge volume.
Joined on the 29th of the month and saw that I would be charged again on the first of the next month. I quickly cancelled but the money has been taken. I've found that Patreon have ended my subscription immediately on cancelling instead of waiting until the end of the month so I don't even get the days that I've paid for. Rubbish. Update.. the content creator has kindly given me a refund.
I’ve been supporting content creators for years on Patreon, and this is the first time I’ve had an issue. I attempted to call Patreon, and all of the numbers are either “not in service” or play an automated message that states that the number does not accept incoming calls. What’s the point of having a phone number that does not accept incoming calls??!!I follow an investment creator, Mr. Grace, on Patreon. I rarely access his platform (it’s mainly routed to Discord), and I’ve been paying $5 a month just to show support. I was fine with that.The issue is, the tier was changed from $5 to $20 over a year ago without my knowledge. This is an auto-debit, so I only realized this about a week ago.I don’t know if it’s even legal to quadruple the price on an auto-debit without my consent, and Patreon has been overcharging me since April 2023.I don’t blame Mr. Grace. If a tier changes in price, Patreon needs to deactivate that tier and send emails giving people the OPTION to sign up for the new tier price. They shouldn’t be able to change the price and continue to auto-debit the account. Don’t bait and switch me with the prices. I would like a full refund of the extra $15/mth I’ve been charged since April 2023. It’s now July 2024.I’ve been overcharged a grand total of ($15/mth x 16 mths) = $240, and I am requesting full refund of the $240 + any applicable taxes charged. Please send the full refund to the card that you have on file for me. Thank you in advance,
They won't give you a refund even when it follows the policy for a refund. They hide behind the creators to issue the refund when Patreon are the ones charging the fees. Complete scam. Also they will still charge you even when the membership has been canceled. BUYER BEWARE!
The worst experience ever. They use third party software , so one needs to use Facebook or google to create an account . Their system auto picked wrong /old emails and passwords . Password reset is sent to the wrong email .Basically I paid and couldn’t log on again . I messaged support and they intentionally gave me the run around for two weeks . They rotated 3 people in to respond . The second one finally agreed with me and promised me the refund . 4 days later . The third person indicated there would be no refund and the end of the discussion . Lots more to the story.. fraud is my description
As of the rest of the people here I was scammed from a creator on patreon. The patreon team just wasted my time with their bs emails back and forth with no regards that I paid the facilitate only the payments they have no control. They wanted to say we take our cut of the scam and everything is fine. You know what patreon, if there is hell there is a special place just for you guys. Burn
I tried a service there, but unfortunately they didn't deliver. I asked for a refund, and it took them 3(!) weeks to send me a generic message that they cannot process it, while clearly the promise of the service was not met. Not one ounce of sympathy or empathy, or "we will look into it". Just "according to our Refund Policy we cannot refund", while clearly the service that was promoted (for a lot of money), did not deliver. Shame on you. I have been a creator, and a patron, but will stop all business with them. Please never do business with them.
I became a member of two Patreon accounts (Time Team and The Prehistory Guys) but after a few weeks I got a message that to continue watching the videos I had to become a member (again!) even though the webpage was showing my status as Member. To resolve this I had to verify my email address, but Patreon would never send me an email so it couldn't be verified. I then also got locked out of my other account.It seems from the other reviews that this is Patreon's policy. It is inconceivable that their IT people can't figure out how to send email confirmations, so it's time Patreon was prosecuted for fraud.
