They are thieves!I booked a car with them. I paid for an extra service they offer to skip the line if there are too many people at the counter. It turns out that this “pass” does not exist. When I went to pick up the car, Avis had no idea who they were and said they are not affiliated with them. Avis made me redo the whole process to add car insurance and all the options I had already ordered through Carla.When I contacted Carla’s customer service, they told me that they didn’t force me to take the skip-the-line service and that I added extra options with Avis, which is why I ended up paying the full amount with them. AND ON TOP OF THAT!! I have 11 separate charges from CARLARENT on my account!!They are thieves – do NOT book with them!!
My son was misled — impossible booking, useless voucher, and zero accountabilityMy son booked a car through Carla / RentCarla when he was 20 years old. He entered his correct date of birth during the booking process, and the system accepted the reservation and full payment with no warning about age restrictions.When he arrived at the rental desk, Hertz informed him that he couldn’t rent the car because their policy requires drivers to be at least 21. This was clearly Carla’s mistake — their system should have blocked the booking.Instead of refunding the money, Carla only offered a voucher worth less than the original amount, and that voucher (Carla Cash) doesn’t work at all. Even after carefully following every single instruction they provided — “pay now,” “flexible cancellation,” choosing Thrifty or Dollar — it’s impossible to complete a booking with it.We have exchanged numerous emails, wasted time and effort trying to resolve the issue, but their “support” just sends automated, unhelpful replies.In short: Carla made the original error, refused a refund, issued a useless voucher, and now ignores us.Unprofessional and unacceptable behavior from a company that clearly does not care about its customers.
Completely dishonest, a scam.We rented the vehicle for X amount and purchased insurance that supposedly covered damage to the car with no deductible.When we arrived at Goldcar, we realized this insurance didn't even exist, nor was its value listed on the voucher.We also learned that we would have to pay another amount at the counter, which was never mentioned during the reservation process.We also had to purchase another insurance policy, one now valid through Goldcar.I also point out that nowhere on the Carla Rent a Car website are the terms and conditions or the complaints book available. These are required by law.In short, it's a shell company.
It was very bad company. I booked the car with them first of all they charged me insurance without any notification second when I canceled on the same day they didn’t refund the money back to my credit card. They refunded to something called Carla cash, which can use it only for 18 months so please this is warning to every person who want to reserve with them be careful they will not return your money and don’t believe them when they said free cancellation
Their rental site is awfully deceiveIng. Within 48 hours I canceled the transaction and I was supposed to get a full refund. They kept part of my money and gave me Carla credit. That will do me no good as I refuse to do business with these people. Beware, beware beware!!!
The service center promised assistance, but it turned out to be a tactic to delay and avoid responsibility. I ended up losing both money and valuable vacation time. I strongly recommend renting directly from the car rental company instead of using third-party services.
Their insurance doesn't cover a lot (pretty useless), and they sneakily added in a subscription for the Carla Cars Plus, had to fight to get the money refunded (roughly 150 Euros / $ / CHF - had to implicate the credit card company).Only positive point : you do actually find more or less good deals
When I arrived to pick up the car the there was no car available and I did not receive any notification. Spoke with customer service and never returned with a solution or proposal, I called again and they pretended they did not know about the situation.
