**Gig Workers (& New Renters) Beware!**I rented from here for the first time through Carla's gig workers program. My rental was at 12 PM, and the website said I could check in after that. I arrived at 12:15 PM, but the doors were locked, and no one was at the desk—despite them closing at 12 PM. I waited and called Carla, but there was no response from Hertz.When I returned on Monday, I encountered two disrespectful men—one wearing sunglasses, the other avoiding eye contact. They claimed the door was locked, which didn't make sense given my confirmed reservation. I later learned they don’t rent to gig workers, contradicting what was listed online.They told me last week they couldn’t refund my prepaid reservation, and now they’ve informed Carla that they won’t process the refund. Avoid this Hertz and Carla Rental Car altogether—it's worse than using Priceline!
My experience with Carla was horrible. I bought the car rental coverage in case of an accident. Once I got to my destination, there were no real instructions of how to get my rental or where to go. It was one of the most stressful moments I’ve had traveling. I then g figured out how to get my rental by going to the app and going through all the helping tools they provided. That soon took me 15 minutes to figure out alone. I then got to the car rental place and Zezgo had undercover feed. I talked to people who rented a car and managed to tell me to just use my car insurance instead of the coverage that I bought through Carla. I spent two 3 hours at the Zezgo rental place trying to tell them that I had my own insurance and would like to use it instead of getting charged an extra 350 dollars on top of my car rental fees and coverage. I decided to get my money back for the coverage I got for my rental, Carla company refused to give me my money back , stopped answering my emails, and overall it was a horrible experience. I don’t recommend this company or zezgo to anyone. Pay a trusted company for their services. Don’t go the cheap way. Lesson learned.
Very bad experience with Carla Car Rental. I booked a car and paid in full in advance, only to be told at pick-up that the car was unavailable despite a confirmed booking and non-refundable payment. I tried contacting them through multiple channels (email, app, social media) and received no response. Unprofessional service — never again.
Picked up car from Ljubljana Airport on 5th August from carwiz rentals for 10 days and to be dropped off at Slit Airport Croatia, they informed me that there will be 400 euro for drop off in another country. This was not stated on my quote and if known I most likely would have booked somewhere else. This is very deceitful
I made a reservation for CHF 68.- (Swiss Francs) with Carla. This included third party liability insurance. Europcar told me that the basic insurance coverage was not displaying on their system and they had no option to add it. Therefore, they said that they would only release the vehicle to me if I could get Carla to confirm that they would cover the basic insurance payout in the event of an incident. After speaking to Carla on the phone, it was clear that Carla was not covering the insurance and that something had gone wrong on the system. I was told by the Europcar manager that it was not their problem, but a problem that needed to be resolved between myself and Carla. As a customer, I found this very unsatisfactory. As I was by now in a hurry, having been waiting for over 1 hour, I asked what alternative options there were. I was told that Europcar would release the hire vehicle to me if I paid for extra insurance. After speaking to Carla again, we agreed that I should accept this and then send Carla the details upon my return so that they could pick up the issue with Europcar and find a resolution to refund me the excess that I paid. The total amount that I had to pay was CHF 164.17 (CHF 152.52 from Europcar + CHF 11.65 from Carla). So, I ended up paying CHF 96.17 more than was in my rental agreement. Carla then refused to make any refund or take up the matter with Europcar as promised. I will not be using this service again.
Extremely Unprofessional and Fraudulent Experience with CarlaI want to formally warn other travelers about my extremely negative experience with Carla.I booked a car through their service for my trip to Greece. Prior to my departure, Carla repeatedly assured me that my reservation was valid and that I would not face any problems. However, my flight was delayed by 4–5 hours. When I arrived to collect the vehicle, I was informed that my car had already been given away because I was “late” and that the supplier only waits for two hours. At no point during the booking process was this condition mentioned.From that moment, I attempted to contact Carla’s customer support through every possible channel: phone, app, and email. I received no response whatsoever.The local supplier explained that they could not provide me with another car, as they only cooperate with companies, not private customers. They also stated that they would not charge Carla for this failed rental and advised me to request a refund directly from Carla. As a result, I was left stranded and had to rent another car elsewhere at a much higher cost.When I returned home and requested a refund from Carla, my claim was denied, even though I had received no service, no support, and no product. Instead, I was offered only a $290 voucher for future use, despite the fact that I had already lost $517.18 on this booking.This is completely unacceptable. A trustworthy company should never withhold a customer’s money without delivering the promised service.⚠️ I strongly advise against using Carla. They demonstrate fraudulent practices and complete disregard for their customers. Travelers risk losing their money entirely.
This "company" is fraudulent DO NOT USE!!!!!!!! I went to pick up my rental from enterprise and they had no idea who they were!! The guy said they're not affiliated with them. They had me go through the whole process of adding car insurance, and all the amenities that I had already ordered through Carla.... so when I called them once I left enterprise, and I told the lady that they didn't know who they were, the lady from Carla hung up on me!!!!
I booked a rental car for my trip to Tenerife through Team Carla. The booking clearly stated that the rental fee of €51.45 was to be paid at the counter. However, the same amount was also charged to my credit card by Team Carla, resulting in a double payment.I contacted their support but have not received a satisfactory explanation or refund. This experience was frustrating and disappointing, especially during a vacation.I do not recommend using this service unless they improve their transparency and customer support.
If i could put 0 stars i would. DO NOT RENT ANYTHING WITH WITH THEM!! They are huge scammers. I had a car booking in late July and I am still fighting with them to get my deposit back. They blocked my phone number and no one is answering me any more. Do not make the same mistake as me. The cheaper prices might be enticing if you're traveling on a budget but I would recommend paying a bit more and not end up in the same situation as I am. Make sure to do you research on who you're booking with. This was the worst experience renting a car I ever had.
