Review Time
We arrived in Reykjavik to a car hire company that no longer existed. We did manage to find a company that had taken over from it (not on site at the airport) but they advised that our booking had been cancelled and they had no cars. We were receiving emails from Carla confirming our rental until just before our arrival and they even emailed us asking if we'd picked up the car (which we hadn't). A response to them did not go anywhere. We have subsequently been in contact with the since our return home requesting a refund of our deposit which they have declined. Disappointing and frustrating.
I took the full coverage, something scratched the car, the car rental company declared the damaged and charged me 500pound.lo and behold RentCarla are refusing to refund me, because there is no police report.of course there isn't, this was small damaged that was unnoticed by us until we returned the car.we have a full damage report from the rental company, and all the documents rentCarla requested, but no police report, no money.and they stopped communicating as well.
Extremely disappointed – definitely not recommendedWe ended up paying almost double the price that was agreed upon online. During the booking we were told that the young driver fee would not apply, yet it was added at pick-up without any prior communication.On top of that, the €113 we paid in advance was completely ignored. We had to pay the full amount again on the spot. Later we received an email saying that this payment was only a “deposit for booking through Carla”, which was never clearly mentioned and honestly just ridiculous.The customer service was also terrible. The staff on site couldn’t even contact Carla. After calling and emailing Carla directly, we were first told that everything would be sorted out, only to later receive a message saying that nothing could be done after all.In short: very poor service, unclear charges, and misleading communication. Definitely not recommended.
Renting a car always causes some headaches, but this company is unique. When you make the reservation, one price appears, and then when you pay at the rental counter, another price appears. They simply act in bad faith. Furthermore, there is no phone support. Their phone number is available electronically, but I was never able to reach anyone. I gave them one star because it's impossible to give them zero or negative reviews!
Stay Away. Price on the Carla website is one, then what you pay at the counter is another. You are forced to pay because you made plans around renting the car.When you contact them, they blame you for not reading the T&Cs, despite you select everything the correct way at the time of booking.
Very bad experience with Carla.I booked and paid, but at pick-up they refused to give me the car because I didn’t have a credit card – something that was not clearly stated before payment.Since then, I have been going back and forth with their customer service for weeks and still cannot get a proper refund. They only offer a useless “Carla Cash” voucher instead of returning my money.⚠️ Misleading, unfair, and a waste of time. I strongly do not recommend this company.
Is there a 0???? Horrible Horrible business. No where on the app or the car selection page does it state that there is any kind of deposit. I proceeded with my rental, paid the upfront fees which was nearly 1/2 i believe. Only to get halfway to my destination to learn that there is a $250 deposit via cc. But yet you took money from my debit card and now are asking to hold $500 for me to pay the remainder with my debit card. I attempted to call the car rental business only to be told by the lady there that they had no way to contact Carla. No email or phone number to give me. WHAT? You use this 3rd party to rent your cars out for you and have NO way of contacting them? Then I go back to the app for the 10th time to try to cancel and they keep trying to add more insurance coverage each time that I go on there to cancel. I finally got on the app, and everything was in a foreign lanquage and I couldnt go any further. Then the app asked if I have picked up my rental. What? I clicked that I was not able to and now they are saying the reservation cannot be cancelled and that i cant get a refund. Watch! I screenshot it all and I record it all. Im getting my $80 dollars back. This company is a fraud and STAY FAR FAR FAR Away from them
I had a great experience with Rentcarla. I made a reservation for a car rental. They were prompt with the pick up and drop off dates and times I requested. And had I needed to cancel my reservation before my scheduled time there would have been no charge to me. That's really helpful and gives me piece of mind when I'm planning my trips because you never know when plans may change.
DO NOT HIRE FROM HERE!!!! me and my friend arrived in nice airport to hire our car. we were an hour late to pick our car up (euro car nice airport) because of delays in our flight and when we got there they claimed they had already given the car away and they also claimed they had never received the deposit I had paid to Carla. they also claimed because we were under 25 we had to pay this extra tax. we couldn't afford this so we were left stranded without a car. its been 10 days now and I still haven't recieved my refund from Carla. DO NOT GO THROUGH THIS COMPANY.
