Just like a well-built car door you can sense the quality of a Rock Door when you hear and feel the satisfying 'thunk' when you close it. The frosting effect on the glazed glass is also very impressive - realistic and detailed. It's feel very solid which is reassuring as I primarily chose Rock Door over other composite doors for its security.
We had our door fitted from @monarchhomeimprovements - in the North East - from first encounter to finish - they have exceeded our expectations The rockdoor quality is excellent finish and fittings - you can most definitely feel the quality compared to our old door, it looks lovely on the house ! We choose the Newark as the house was built in the 1930 and had a similar style ! Looks very classy - would highly recommend- only downside is that no other supplier in the North east got back to us! So rockdoor you could have many more sales! But we were lucky to get to work with Monarch and couldn’t recommend enough.
our new door is fantastic. We live in an exposed rural location and get extreme weather conditions. After 20 years of varnishing and replacing cracked and decaying wooden doors it's a revelation.We have had torrential rain, high winds and extreme heat since fitting, the door deals with anything and looks superb. The looks, quality and finish are more than we hoped for.
My ongoing review of Rockdoor with regards to condensation which is only on the thermal bridging, no where else, no condensation on the ceiling or wall near the door only on the thermal bridging. If you do have a home with humidity within then do not purchase a Rockdoor !!!. Save yourself the heartache of not buying a Rockdoor for Rockdoor will not want to know and will blame on humidity when every home does have this through people breathing, animals breathing people walking indoors on wet days in winter etc.It was said that we had been drying wet clothes in our home which is an untruth for we do have a dryer which is in our garage and the garage is seperate from our home plus we are aware of the problems in drying wet clothes in the home in the first instance. They will say this to get out of having to replace the door. Did not have this problem with our other UPVC door which we did have in situ previous to having the Rockdoor installed.My husband who is a UPVC Window, Door & Conservstory Specialist with many years experience in this field of work who did install our door and also installed other Rockdoors is totally appalled at this excuse made by Rockdoor which they confirm passed all tests etc etc and there is no fault with their doors. They may pass all the stringent laboratory tests however manufacturing does have faults not everything is 100% and they are not tested in homes which they should be . If you do purchase a Rockdoor you will have to purchase a de humidifier to combat the humidity on the door around the thermal bridging. This was confirmed to myself today by Jason Kay of Rockdoor that the only way to combat the humidity in the home is to purchase a de humidifier...De humidifier are expensive to run in the first instance and with ongoing energy prices it would be cheaper and more economical to purchase a UPVC Door and not a " Composite Rockdoor " Please look elsewhere and certainly not Rockdoor, avoid at all costs this set of devious scoundrels who are not sincere
I had a Black Rock Front door fitted April 2023 but by July 2023 after a hot day (28 degrees approximately) the black surface on the front of the door heated up and the composite black finish to the door warped about 1 cm. It looks like the door has a huge bulge on the front now. The door still opens and closes. As I paid around £2000 for the door and went with a well known brand I expected it to last longer than a few months. Unfortunately it seems after trying to get this resolved they are not interested if fixing the issue. I quickly identified that this is a common fault and Rock doors resolution is to ignore you and hope you go away now they have your money.I suggest you search rock door faults on google before purchasing.Rock door have access to my details through this review but as they are actively trying to ignore me I suspect I will never get this resolved and will need to purchase a door from a competitor.
Less than 5 years after purchase, the outside chrome door handle and chrome letter box are severely pitted and need replacing. One of the sealed double-glazed window units in the door has serious condensation between the two panes of glass, the sealed unit is not sealed anymore. On the outside of the door, the bottom edge of both window frames have warped so much that the gap that has developed between the window frames and the glass clearly can allow rain and moisture into the internal structure of the door. Every winter, serious condensation builds up on the inside door handle and inside letterbox, also on the inside of each window unit, and also around the inside bottom and inside lower sides of the door, I have to wipe the door dry every morning. There's nothing rock about a rockdoor. £1600 wasted. It never ceases to amaze me when some people write a review saying something like: "I've just had a Rockdoor fitted and it looks amazing and I'm very happy with it" - and I'm thinking "Of course it looks amazing, you've only had it 5 minutes, wait until you've had it 5 years, you'll then have to spend another £2000 to buy another one". Rockdoor wanted my personal details so that they could contact me to discuss the issues I've had with my Rockdoor. More than 5 weeks after writing this review, Rockdoor have not contacted me to resolve my issues. It's not exactly a surprise. Cowboys.
