Never again the OBB nightjet. 20 minutes before departure, the train from Zürich to Amsterdam was cancelled. This can happen of course, but there was no information from the train company, leaving everyone stranded. People traveling with dogs and small kids were left to figure it out for themselves. When calling the customer service from the train company (after three attempts where the first two just hung up) they told me that the train crew would not arrive at all since the train would not depart and people could use the train as a hotel, and the next day people needed to figure it out for themselves how to get to their destination.
Took the nightjet train from Amsterdam to Vienna for the sixth time today - no matter what we tried during the six trips, we were always disappointed and spent the night uncomfortably. First two times the nightjet got completely cancelled so we had to find alternative mode of travel - very little reimbursement received and no help from the staff re what other trains to take. The next four times, the train was always delayed reaching its final destination at least by an hour late due to extended stops along the route - this seems to be so common OBB should consider putting the prolonged travel time as the expected one, at least this way people would be able to plan accordingly. The second two travels we took we were in a crowded seating compartment - while there was no space to stretch your legs at least there was space for baggage. The last two trips we took, we booked a couchette compartment with six berths. While there were numerous empty compartments, ours was filled to the brim with people as if OBB was trying to punish all of us for not paying more to travel in a private compartment. In addition to the compartment being already full as is, there was absolutely no luggage space with the exception of a small space on top - where heavier or bigger suitcases have no chance of fitting. When we asked the attendant for help, he was of absolutely no use leaving us to figure it out for ourselves - we ended up having to leave the suitcase in the aisle inconveniencing everyone. We couldn’t understand how does the OBB expect people to travel without any baggage. Additionally, while the sleeping couchette compartments are supposed to be kept silent at night (so as to be able to sleep) the attendant did not seem to care that there were teenagers running around shouting and drinking the entire night - might as well not have an attendant at all then if hes not doing anything. Unless you are willing to pay as much money as you would for a flight ticket (and potentially more) for a private compartment, I would not recommend this travel option at all.

Very disappointed. Paid for first class tickets Radstadt to Vienna. Boarded train 11.35 for 2 hours to Leoben. NO food on the train. Boarded train at Leoben to Vienna. Immediately ordered food as starving hungry. 14.30 nothing received. It's not much to expect lunch when travelling first class between 11.35 and 15. 36. This would be very poor if travelling second class. But paid significantly more for worse service. Come on OBB. think about your customers. If you know there's no food on the first train, tell your staff to feed people from that train as a priority.

Our night train was cancelled with one-hour notice. We were left stranded in the freezing streets of Basel with our baby and without any assistance. The first customer service operator we were in contact with hung up the phone on my husband and the second one was incredibly rude and tried to avoid all responsibility. Being a night train, we had to spend the night in a hotel before continuing the journey the next day on the German railway. The only information we were given is that we could travel the next day on the German railway with our cancelled OBB ticket but we were not provided any meal or any accommodation and it was made clear to us that we would not be reimbursed or receive any sort of compensation. OBB is a fraud of a company that disrespects its customers and all applicable EU regulations that are in place to protect customers. If you book a ticket with them, just know that anything can happen and you are on your own if things go wrong.
