This company has been our worst nightmare! Purchased trip insurance through Royal Caribbean. Aon was their carrier. During the December Christmas cruise - 3rd day out - I was diagnosed by ships Dr that I had heart attack. Because of Aon's past very poor service, the hospital/Drs in Dominican Republic wanted payment for all services UP FRONT. Upon returning to United States and Drs here diagnosing no heart attack. My husband filed our expensed out of pocket (roughly $20,000). 5 months later we still have no reimbursement have filed and refiled our claim at their direction. NOW they want us to file with Medicare and Tricare for the out of country charges!!! This is insane!!! Medicare and Tricare will never pick up foreign medical expenses. They make that very clear.
My husband was in a really bad accident a few months ago and is still having to have surgeries because of the accident. Recently he had a very bad infection in the area of the surgeries, he is now has a PICC line and receives IV antibiotics daily. I called to cancel our cruise, they said I had to cancel 120 days before, according to my app it was 120 days. But when I called they said since we are flying in the day before it is 119 days and I will have to provide all this information just to get my insurance money back. I have enough stress with all the health issues, I don't really need this added to it.Trust me I would much rather be on the cruise then at home helping my husband recover.
I'm considering starting a Class Action suit against AON.Dec 12 I sent correspondence cancelling my trip. It is now May 17. I've spent over 40 hours supplying them with letters from three doctors as well as sending them every test result within the last year. Finally after four months I had a lengthy conversation with an agent. I took copious notes to understand exactly what they still wanted from me. I sent an email shortly after that with everything they requested. I received an email today asking for more information. My internist of 20 years has spent hours supplying them with all records and a letter stating I was healthy when I purchased the insurance and how my health has deterioriated over the year and why I'm not capable of going on a 26 day trip. She said in all her years of practice she's never experienced what feels to her like harrassmentlThis has been stressful and exhausting.I called AON but I was told I couldn't speak with a top agent and I would hear from them in another 15 days. It seems with all the negative reviews there must be a way to have an impact.
Our trip was interrupted by my covid diagnosis; we missed 10 days of a 14 day trip to Alaska. AON reimbursed us for our missed flights home...that is all! We are out over $8000 with a credit with Princess Travel which we will not use. DO NOT INSURE WITH AON.
I had expected to have a terrible experience after reading all of these negative reviews, but it has been less than one week, and I have had my claim approved, and the money is in my bank account. My mom broke her arm with less than 2 weeks before we left on our cruise, and she needed surgery. I had to fill out one medical form (my doctor did), and submit my receipts, but that was it. I am unsure if they are improving because of all the other reviews, but I did not have any issues.
This company is a joke!! They will deny a claim no matter the situation. My father got sick before our cruise, went to the doctor for a note and then 3 weeks later he passed away. They denied the claim because he had preexisting condition - he was in remission from cancer. What is the point of travel insurance if you can't even use it?
It took a little time but AON came through with my claim. My reason was that I had just been accepted for a clinical for a muscle disease that I have. I sent them a letter from my doctor and the Physicians statement. A required visit to my Dr. was scheduled for a day that would have been in the middle of my cruise. My compliments to AON for supporting clinical trials to find a cure for diseases that aren't curable at this time.
This company is horrible and I would never purchase travel insurance again if they are the insurers. My wife's father passed away 2 months before our cruise. I submitted the claim and 10 months later its denied. I've been sending additional paperwork and calling and they keep saying trying again in 30 days. Its total BS and they should be investigated.
