Review Time
My complaint is not nearly as long reaching as most of these - at least so far. But I won't be surprised that it takes as long. We're now at 6 weeks since the claim was filed and I'm getting the same runaround that others say they got. I booked the insurance at the same time as I booked a cruise on WindStar as the insurance company they use. I thought it was a good reference - wrong! I've filed a dispute with AmEx and will register with the BBB. Not much else we can do.
We booked a $10,000 Disney World vacation and as we were heading to the airport to leave for our trip, the airline cancelled the flight without any reason given. We could not find another flight to make our trip work so we were forced to cancel. This vacation was booked in November of 2022. It is March 2023 and Aon still has not paid the claim and everytime we call they just say they are backed up and to give them 30 more days. This is unacceptable. Shame on Disney for giving this company business.
Customer beware - I'm hoping to save someone else this pain. This organization is still selling insurance policies they have no ability or desire to service in the advertised timeframe. The truth is - unless you are looking for travel insurance knowing you won't need to make a claim or you have so much money that you don't need your money back for MONTHs - buy elsewhere. Customer service representatives have acknowledged to me on multiple occasions that they do not have the staffing to meet their advertised claim response time, but yet even months later they still advertise this review timeframe to new/potential customers. Furthermore, on 12/2 when I question the source of a cited policy requesting additional information (seems like a stall tactic), the customer service agent was shocked that I would question the credibility of information she provided about their internal policy only verbally after 4 months of waiting (over 4 times the estimated time available on their publicly available website). In comparison the information they were disputing from another source was provided with a link to the publicly available official policy the same day as the inquiry was made.
Wish I would have read the negative reviews of this terrible insurance. A complete ripoff! I uploaded a claim back in July, and then they sent me the same form recently to submit again! I will be notifying Trafalgar of my bad experience, they should no longer offer this insurance.
This is an added review to one that I had posted. AON denied our claim because they do not recognize the COVID test kit we were given by the travel company. Took 4 phone calls and a message to get the refusal letter. Appears they do not mail the letter. Have forwarded everything to the travel company guest relations for their assistance. Also reported them to the Better Business Bureau of New York where this company is located. NEVER USE AON AGAIN.
Same experience as most of these other reviews, you wait for months and all they provide is excuses, after waiting an hour finally got to speak with a supervisor who advised me that the class examiner was waiting for info from our travel provider who Brendan who refunded their portion in three weeks. The trip was canceled for medical reasons and I have provided them with all of the medical documents that they requested, this company shouldn’t be in business seems all they do is scam people. They just hope people will get frustrated and give up on their claims!
They are a freaking joke. Still waiting to transfer my refund for another cruise and still nothing. All they keep saying is I have to wait another 30days. This is Ridiculous. This is my own money and I have to fight to use it the way I want. What type of insurance is this these people need to get fired
Do NOT purchase travel insurance through Expedia. The company they use is AON and it is a scam. We booked flights for a trip and my daughter came down with COVID. I spoke with Expedia and the AON the travel insurance company. I filled out all the paperwork online and sent a copy of her home COVID test. No one informed me that without paper work from her pediatrician with “her name, DOB, amd social security number on it that they would not refund us for our flights. I sent in additional paper work from her cheer coach stating she had to skip one of the largest competitions of the year as well as our hotel reservation cancellation. Almost one year later they said that they needed a doctors note with all the information listed above. From February until November surely someone knew that additional information was needed with as many calls and emails that were exchanged. This company is a scam and has ZERO intentions of paying out for claims. Steer clear of Expedias insurance and AON travel insurance on any other websites.
You paid for protection and they don't even help you, the lady on the phone was nice and understanding , yet couldn't do anything to help me change my flight due to a medical emergency. What's the point of paying for protection?
